I just finished this tour (27th July - 2nd August) and it was fantastic. Our guide was Göksu, our driver was Murat and both were very friendly. I'd say this tour hinges on the quality of the guide and he was first class. Great to chat to, very knowledgable, great English and he

We loved the tour, felt safe, got to see the ruins of Troy, Perganon, Ephesus, Hierapolis, then head out to Konya and Cappadocia, making back to Istanbul via Ankara. We had 11-13 people in our party (all had slightly different itineraries - some started earlier, others got off

The reason why I am reviewing this tour with two stars is due to the poor guiding skills of Metin P, because we need to leave aside the locations and focus on what the tour has to offer. For example, you wouldn't give 4 stars to a NY tour just because they took you to the

Response from MehmetDarga, Director of Sales at 7-Day Turkey Classics Tour from Istanbul: Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Cappadocia and Ankara
Responded 23 Jan 2020
Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for your patience, we really care about our travelers feedback and make sure we match the standards we promised. Overall understanding from your feedback was the negative feeling towards the attitude of tour guide, Metin Pehlivan. Metin has been a professional tour guide for more than 12 years and he has been working with our company since 2015 and never received any complaint about him. As a product manager, I have gone through the feedback from the other travelers before getting in touch with Metin directly and review the online feedbacks from his last 2 trips in October. Almost 80% of travelers were rated him as excellent. I would like to make some clarifications about 2 points you highlighted; the choice of the restaurants and drop-off to your property at the end of the trip. Lunches aren’t included as we like to give our customers a chance to wander around, meet the locals and discover some Turkish cuisine. The guide may recommend a restaurant where he knows the food is good quality, reasonably priced and the toilets are clean and western style. According to Metins’ notes, a Serbian couple took their free time and made their own arrangements for lunch. Others preferred to go for his recommendations. He also provided the list of the restaurants he suggested, they are all recommended in guide books but it is good to get your feedback as it might need to be changed at some places. We don’t make deals with restaurants and don’t allow our guides to either, instead we try to give free time or give recommendations. The fact here is, that in Turkey, a guide and driver will ‘always’ get a free meal. That is how it is throughout Turkey. Turkey Classic tour includes pick-up and drop-off from Istanbul hotels in the old city (Sultanahmet) and Taksim area but both places had road closures & restrictions. We use our own fleet rather than hiring from another supplier, and drivers have been with us for many years. The driver is responsible for the vehicle as well as the pick-up and drop off points. They also need to consider the size of the vehicle, some places can be reached with taxis but not with a tour vehicle. We may not be able to drive to doorstep of the some hotels, so we make our way to closest point where we can get you. It was not possible to drop you because your hotel and other travelers hotel (Nathan and Ash) was not reachable with this type of vehicle at the time. Again thank you so much for your time to share your feedback with us, we will certainly check the restaurants we suggest and make replacements wherever it is necessary. Also find a better solution to drop off within old part of the city.
