About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- swoodruf0 contributionsReally informative cruise on the BosporusOur travel company, Overseas Adventure Travel, scheduled a private cruise on the Bosphorus on our second day. The boat was lovely, and we had perfect weather. The cruise helped us get our bearings of Istanbul, as there are so many waterways that it is hard to know exactly where you are. We saw many landmarks from the river that we saw in person. Our guide took the microphone and explained everything as we cruised. There were refreshments available if you wanted it on the boat, and everyone agreed that it was a great time.Written 14 November 2024
- ldesjardins0 contributionsA Must See Tour! This was such a great experience!! The tour guide got us the best spot on the boat and was very passionate about Turkish culture and history. It was very interesting to learn about and absolutely stunning views. Best way to see a lot of the city in a short amount of time.Written 13 November 2024
- daveleetransit0 contributionsExcellent Guide in IstanbulWe engaged Berivan Yildz for two days on our first-ever visit to Istanbul. She was very strongly recommended by friends who had worked with her recently. She is fluent in English and German, and extremely knowledgeable about Istanbul history and daily life in Turkey. She was flexible to accommodate our 7-year old granddaughter who was along for this trip. If you want to make your visit to Istanbul memorable, we strongly recommend Ms. Yildz (whatsap: 905322600897)!Written 2 November 2024
- Carol H0 contributionsGreat tour with MetinMetin was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the residences and cultural sites we saw from the boat. Very enthusiastic and entertaining. The boat trip would not have been as interesting without him.Written 18 May 2024
- chloeo7940 contributionsGreat tripAfter a bit of confusion at the start and not being able to find our guide (through no fault of his). We met Kerem who took us to the boat for our tour. He was very friendly and informative and his knowledge of Istanbuls history was great and really interesting.Written 22 April 2024

- MGMatson0 contributionsGood start to our stay in IstanbulThere are many choices of Bosphorus river cruises. Appreciated finding this option on Trip Advisor. Basically, there is a private guide who can take up to 10 people on one of the many cruises that go up and down the Bosphorus. Our guide was a pleasant young man, Kerem, whose English was excellent (part-time English teacher). He pointed out many items of interest and city sections along the Europe and Asia sides of the river. He could answer every question we had, which were many. It was a great start to our 3 days in Istanbul.Written 5 October 2023
- Flyer5911310 contributionsOne of our best experiences in IstanbulThis was one of our best experiences in Istanbul. It was not altogether clear to us ahead of time that this comprised a guide taking us as a group onto a normal ferry, but I think this format drives good value. Our group was small - around 8 people - and the guide found a quiet spot so we were not really aware of everyone else on the ferry. Everything was smooth at the meeting point, which was easy to find. What makes these tours special is the enthusiasm of the guides, and Metin was no exception. This trip - apart from being iconic - is a good way to get a sense of the scale of the city and see some things that otherwise you would not if you are just there for a few days and focusing on the Old City.Written 4 October 2023
- SamuliV20 contributionsVery good experience.Metin is a super guide who has a wealth of knowledge on Türkiye and Istanbul history. He really walked the extra mile to ensure our positive experience. We highly recommend their service.Written 25 September 2023
- Kimberleyae0 contributionsHigh quality and energy tourMetin was an amazing tour guide! Really targeted his approach to our group and what they wanted to see and experience. With his local knowledge, he was really honest in his recommendations and had both high quality and affordable options. His energy was infectious and we had a really exciting time. Would definitely recommend for anyone travelling to Istanbul.Written 29 July 2023
- Redfern2190 contributionsKnowledgeable guideOur guide, Metin, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. It was a little hard to see the sights and to hear him at times because of the number of other passengers on the boat. We learned a lot about the history of Istanbul in a short time.Written 7 July 2023

This tour and Metin exceeded all of my expectations! He is as fun as he is knowledgeable. His English is fantastic. We visited all of the must see sites and they were more beautiful and interesting than I ever imagined. For lunch he took us to a small restaurant just off of the busy streets that had been run by two brothers for decades. It was totally delicious and authentic.
Metin gave us recommendations for shopping, how much we should pay for certain things, tips for navigating the city, the best dinner spots, how much to tip, places we should go that we may not have otherwise, etc.
We were a group of four friends, whose ages ranged from 39-72. We all had an amazing time and consider Metin a lifelong friend. The only regret was that we didn’t book him for the entire week. I can’t say enough about him or the beautiful city of Istanbul.

Beautifully paced tour For any age group to explore the city’s history, culture,Markets, food and museum’s. Tour guide Metin speaks English so gave us a commentary of the places we visited and also pointed out restaurants to visit along the back streets and many hidden laneways. Throughly recommend this walking tour as it gives you a better ideas of places to go during your stay in Istanbul, but, also extra information on places outside the city to visit.

Metin is everything most people would want in a tour guide. He is well educated (especially in Turkish history), witty, kind, conscientious, loyal and a great story teller. I was in a group of 17 people, and he managed to entertain, guide, and protect all of us in locations throughout Turkey that were fascinating but sometimes complicated. At the end of the two week tour, many of us felt that he was the most fun person we had ever been on vacation with and a lifelong friend. He sincerely likes people and is skilled at engaging them and making them laugh.
Regarding day trips in Istanbul, Metin lives there and is well acquainted with all that is necessary for maximum experience. He is very capable at guiding through the main attractions, but I believe he is extraordinary in directing his clients to the tastiest food places with the very best atmospheres and to extraordinary off the beaten track places (some examples: a traditional Meyhane Restaurant with great food, belly dancers and band, or a travel-back-in -time historic walking neighborhood).

I visited Istanbul during summer some years ago, it was one of the most beautiful destinations I've been to. You can feel the peace in the atmosphere there. one essential factor was the tour guide Metin, full of pieces of information about each and every place we visited from historical masterpieces to the old neighborhood full of charming churches, restaurants and sooqs (bazaars).
I highly recommend him you'll be blown up by how much he knows and it will be a very rich journey. ;)

The 3-day tour was perfect, we visited the both sides of the city, we had lunch all days in typical and nice restaurant. Metin the guide was so great and speaks English very well. And more, the company was strongly professional, it kept the tour only for me even it wasn’t a private tour. I do recommend this company and Metin the guide.

A truly wonderful experience with a very informative and passionate host.
Metin arrived promptly, as arranged through a text message the previous evening, and was the perfect tour guide.
We ate and drank our way around the city, old and new, European and Asian sides. Beginning with an authentic Turkish buffet breakfast, and then enjoying bagels, baklava, Turkish tea and coffee. Pide and pizza for lunch, finishing the day with kofta (meatballs) for dinner.
Crisscrossing the city by foot, tram, boat, bus and taxi, Metin meticulously showed us hidden gems, glorious parks and viewing points, places locals frequent, all the while explaining the history and relevance of each area.
An authentic Turkish hammam was a wonderful experience despite the fact none of the staff spoke a word of English!! As the saying goes, “when in Rome”, or should that be Istanbul??
All in all, I cannot thank Metin enough for his hospitality. He gave us the most perfect day and plenty of tips to help us falling into typical tourist traps, and also took the time to send us an agenda for the following day to explore the more popular historic sites.
Metin. You are in my list of contacts now - expect a message when we are next in Turkey 😊
Little tip. Metin advised us not to miss visiting the cistern Basilica. So glad we took his advice. It is jaw dropping. Amazing!!

My friend and I were only in Istanbul for a long weekend. We feared that we wouldn’t have enough time to see the key sites and would end up queuing for much of the time.
Metin - our extremely positive and friendly tour guide - planned an itinerary for the time we had and made sure we saw what we came for. Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, Dolmabahce Palace. It was It was a very fun weekend!

Amazing. I wouldn't go back to Istanbul without calling Metin Yulmaz. We had an incredible time. Metin is a pro and loves what he does. You could tell the way that 100 people throughout the day greeted him that he cares about this city and the people here. Felt right at home and safe the entire time. Happy to call him a friend and someone I will see again in the future.

You cannot visit Istanbul without seeing it through Metin’s eyes. First of all, you feel like you’re with your brother/cousin/friend. His passion and love for Istanbul is infectious and you leave the tour falling a bit in love with Istanbul yourself. My parents and I were talking about the tour days after it ended because it was that good! We walked through bits of Istanbul you’d never see with a conventional tour. From strolling through so many hidden treasures, meeting so many nice people, and treated to the most delicious food at the most beautiful places, it’s a magical experience! After reading the reviews, none of them (including mine) do him justice. He is arguably the BEST tour guide in Istanbul. Don’t leave Istanbul without a tour with him, you will absolutely regret it. Also book as early as you can, he is in demand so don’t miss out. We didn’t think Needed another visit for awhile , but after meeting Metin we realize there is still so much more to do in Istanbul. Also we were tight on time and Metin helped arranged for our cases to be at the last location. This ensured that we didn’t have to cut our tour short or stress about our flight. Beyond kind!!! A single day tour is the minimum, so try and book in for additional days—-we wish we had!
