About
There's so much to see in Jerusalem that it's hard to fit it all into a single trip, but exploring with a private guide lets you cover more ground in your limited time. That means taking in Jerusalem’s Old City highlights in a morning—including the Mount of Olives, Western Wall (Wailing Wall), and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre—leaving the afternoon free for swimming in the Dead Sea.

What to expect
This full-day tour begins with a prearranged Jerusalem hotel pickup in a private, air-conditioned coach. The itinerary on this tour can be customized to any interests, for example, spending more time at one location over another. That’s one of the primary advantages of this private tour. The first stop is at the Mount of Olives for a scenic overview of the entire city of Jerusalem. This mountain ridge is east of the Old City and named for the olive groves that once covered its slopes. From atop the mount, there is also a view of the Dome of the Rock, a shrine located on the Temple Mount and one of the oldest works of Islamic architecture. It is arguably Jerusalem's most recognizable landmark. Throughout the day, listen as your guide shares interesting information about Jerusalem’s 4,000-year-old history and explains its sacred place in the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim religions. The tour then passes through the Garden of Gethsemane, at the foot of the Mount of Olives. This garden is known as the place where Jesus prayed, and also where his disciples slept, the night before his crucifixion. Then it’s off to the Walls of Jerusalem that surround the Old City. The walls were built in the 1530s, when Jerusalem was part of the Ottoman Empire, to protect its borders from intruders. Further along through the Armenian Quarter, visit the famous Western Wall, the holiest of Jewish sites, then to the Christian Quarter along the Via Dolorosa, the street that Jesus walked along on the way to his crucifixion. Here, look for the 14 stations of the cross while retracing Jesus’ steps to the Hill of Calvary, now the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Upon arrival at the Dead Sea, change into a swimsuit and head to the water. At 1,312 feet (400 meters) below sea level, this is the lowest place on earth. After applying a covering of mineral-rich black mud, wash it off in a sulfur pool before a therapeutic swim or float in the legendary Dead Sea. The tour concludes here for a return trip to your original departure point.

Good tour of Jerusalem and Dead Sea
Jun 2019 • Solo
I took this tour from Tel Aviv. Overall it was a good tour of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, however, I thought it was quite expensive ($131) for what it was. Our tour guide, Hava, was nice and made the tour entertaining. Two things I didn't like. One, and maybe this is common with all tour companies, is taking us to a particular souvenir shop and making it seem like we are getting a great deal or something by shopping there. It's obvious that there is some sort of kickback that the tour guide or tour company gets from the shop, so it would be better if they were upfront about it instead of trying to hide it. Second issue was the ride back to Tel Aviv. Instead of dropping everyone off at their individual hotels it would have been better to go to a central location in Tel Aviv and drop everyone off there. Otherwise it takes a lot of unnecessary time navigating through traffic, etc...

Thanks for the favorable review of your tour guided by Hava. She had much guiding expereince and knowledge to maange her group of travelers. The region you visited is world famous for the mineral rich products. Many travelers do wish to purchase items. The drop off system is challenged daily!! Most travelers want/insist on a direct dropff right outside their pickup hotel entrance!!(We are frequently criticzed for not doing this.) Central drop offs would certailny be an excellent snd convenient option, but still we are unable to do this with large volumes. In smaller groups it does happen on its own at the guides and drivers discretion and traveler cooperation.

Jerusalem & Dead Sea Tour with Yoav Malach
We booked the tour (1 day) and were assigned to Yoav Malach. If you have the chance to work with him, the trip is already set to be excellent.
Yoav knows the local surroundings and has a charming & funny way to convey the knowledge. The only small critique was the proposal of the restaurant for lunch, the food there wasn’t really that good.
We felt very safe during the tour, esp in the crowded areas. We were briefed several times about the history of different parts of the city and the tour felt very flexible. In summary, apart from the food, very enjoyable and fun experience for us to get a lot of tourist sightseeing done in only one day. Awesome job, Yoav.

Thanks very much for this 5 star review of your day guided by Yoav. We are appreciative of your account of the tour management that you got to see many locations with him.. We are regretful the restuarant menu was not to your taste or liking. It caters for large groups in this vicnity and helps us to be on shedule, but we do keep a check on customer satisfaction.

The price is not right
Just called and tried to book this tour, it cost $131 and not $75. They do have several tours but none of them start at this price point

Dear 31sachal, Which exactly tour did you mean? We have several tours which start at this price point - if the pick up is from Jerusalem and not from Tel Aviv, and if it is a big group: Jerusalem Old & New - 73 USD; Jerusalem in the footsteps of Jesus - 75 USD, Jerusalem Half Day costs 49 USD, Bethlehem Half Day costs 70 USD... Sincerely yours, Bein Harim Tourism Sevices team

Our tour guide was knowledgeable knew the old city like the back of his hand. I expanded my knowledge and learned things I didn't know or had forgotten over the years. I only wish we had more time.

Excellent tour (but Jerusalem is over-commercialized)
Our guide, Michael, picked us up at our hotel promptly and spent the day taking us wherever we wanted to go, in a nice oversized comfortable air conditioned van. We saw everything! The private tour is the only way to go with 4 kids (16, 15, 11, & 10). However, all sites visited were ridiculously packed with tourists and overly commercialized. We saw Bethlehem, The Old City, The Dead Sea, the place where Jesus was (supposedly) born and crucified, and all the places that were mentioned in the Bible. But everything has been built over, destroyed, reconstructed, and commercialized. Nothing seemed authentic, and there was so much tourism that it was in no way holy or sacred. Even those at the Wailing Wall were tourists with cameras taking selfies! Our modern society has destroyed what was once a sacred and meaningful place. We were glad to have marked it off our bucket list by would not go back.
