Head inside (own expense), explore the trails, gardens, springs, and pools alone, and, if you wish, refuel at the café (own expense). A valuable day trip from JLM
Feb 2020
Tours through Abraham tours are highly recommended. The organization of tours, the drivers & the guides are extremely professional. I went to places which would have not been possible if I'd gone on my own. In my opinion, the tours were rushed though. Having said that - and since we had a packed day - I was glad to be back in the hostel. Thank you Abraham tours.

Well run trip. We particularly enjoyed Masada. Driver was excellent and did give us some commentary. I downloaded the app the day before and that was very useful.

Day trip from Jerusalem

A full day where we got to see a lot. Perfect timing in each place. Only thing that bothered us was that the bus is small and not fit for very tall people. Nice driver!

Top of Their World Until the Romans Came
Nov 2019
I didn't really know that much about Masada until it became a part of the trip my wife and I took with 206 Tours and our Church. As we first approached the area by bus, this looming mountain began to encompass our total view. To get to the mountain top, we rode in a tram, something similar to what a group of skiers would ride going up mountain slops. It was picturesque and not for those fearing heights. Once we disembarked, there was a slight walk along the cliffside up to the mountain plateau. There, our guide informed us of the life of the Jewish families who occupied this site during the time it was the summer home of King Herod. It was mind-boggling to visualize how water and food had to be trekked up to the top manually. Then to hear how the residents who remained after Herod's death, decided to confront the invading Roman army, was ,again, hard to imagine and harder to accept. You need to be there to understand the entire story, the history of this place, and how it instills such cultural pride in being Jewish.

Great day trip from Jerusalem
Dec 2019
I took this trip with my 13 year old daughter while in Jerusalem on a whistle stop 3 day trip. It was a great way to experience the Dead Sea (a highlight) while also seeing some sights outside the city itself. The Ein Gedi nature reserve was lovely, very scenic with an easy 20 minute hike up to David's Waterfall. Madasa was fascinating, we took the cable car in both directions but there was the opportunity to hike up (50 mins) or down (45 mins). Hiking would have meant less time on the plateau itself though. Floating in the Dead Sea was wonderful and lived up to expectations. The trip itself was well organised with an informative and friendly guide, Hain, We were collected from the Jaffa Gate outside the Old City, very easy to find the pick up point, and the bus arrived exactly on time. It's worth downloading the Abraham Tours app in advance. This gives information on each place visited- this is an unguided tour so, as well as picking up leaflets at Ein Gedi and Masada, it's useful to have the app for more info. Masada in particular would have been puzzling without it! Overall a great tour - highly recommend.

Ok for half a day
Nov 2019
If you are thinking of doing the walk up beware of the summer months, it would be
dreadfully hot. The dead sea is too far to walk also.
