An absolute mesmerizing tour I will never forget! The pick up is quite early, but getting to watch the sunrise over the desert was incredible and so worth it. Everything went to plan and we were very happy with the quality of service. We got to the top of Masada exactly on time to watch the sunrise. We also had enough time to walk around and take photos. The visit at Ein Gedi was very interesting and I'm glad it is included in the tour, as I wouldn't have thought of visiting it otherwise. Getting to float in the Dead Sea at the end was the perfect finish to the trip.
Highly recommend Tourist Israel!

The trip was mostly self guided, but that was perfect because we got dropped off and picked up at the right time in the right places and in between could enjoy what was one great adventure. History, natural beauty and amazing sights...unforgettable.

This is an "UNGUIDED" tour. As long as clients realize that, there will be no complaints about lack of a guide. This is pretty much a transport/transfer service. Their job is to pick u up at a designated spot on time, drive you to the three sites, and bring you back. So for all you you complainers/whiners/haters out there, CHILL> they don't pretend to be anything they are not. They DO NOT provide any instructions/guidance. They are purely there to pick you, transfer you and bring you back.
1. Pick up is at a designated lobby of a local hotel: this works really well as you are not sitting in a bus for an hour going from hotel to hotel picking up the clients: all clients come to one place instead. Time management wise this is excellent.
2. The first stop: Masada: they drop you at ticket office: you buy your own ticket and figure out with the map where to start the climb, it takes a good ONE HOUR even for the fittest of us. the sunrise up top is a hit/miss depending on clouds/haze, but you get some views. the fortress itself is a massive plated so give time to explore.
3. The 2nd stop Ein Gedi: is a nice stop as there is a cafe there for those who do not want to climb any further. this involves tons of hiking with tiny waterfalls along the way- unique in a rocky dessert scape!
4. Dead Stop: there are showers and locker rooms there so it's a perfect end to soak into the water (the best highlight of this day). you will be back in jerusalem by 1230-1P
TIPS: U need not bring your breakfast snacks b/c on way to MASADA they do make a "rest stop" at a gas station that has a huge supermarket type coffee shop to pick up breakfast.
TIPS: proper hiking shoes: Masada climb is legit hike over rocks and mountain (it's not a walk in the park).
TIPS: bathing suit and towel for Dead Sea (locker room and showers are excellent).
Some constructive thoughts-
1. Maybe a little more time efficiency by seriously enforcing the time to be “back by the bus” rule would be great. We had some late folks in the group that held everyone up and if everyone was warned that bus would leave without them then it would help a lot.
2. A little more time at Masada but a little less time at EinGedi bc the uphill climb at Masada takes longer than an hour even for fit people.
3. Dead Sea stop was just perfect as it is.

Thank you so much for sharing this thoughtful feedback with us! As the tour indicates, it is "self-guided" which offers travelers an opportunity to explore this amazing sites on their own and use the information provided on site. We are so happy to hear you felt this was a great experience and allowed you to explore at your own pace and on your time. We are glad to hear the driver was on time and friendly and helped with the overall experience. We also appreciate your tips! We too suggest to pack snacks and water and proper walking shoes for the hike. We are also glad to hear the facilities at the Dead Sea worked for you! Thanks again so much for sharing with us, we are so happy to know you enjoyed your Sunrise tour!

Despite the beauty of the sites and the good combination of spots , I would not recommend this company. I paid in order to be able to see the sunrise on Massada and was very disappointed when our driver told us the road was close . The company didn't even notified us when we bought the tickets, that it could have been a possibility due to the weather condition. We then lost 2 hours in the middle of the road at 4am waiting for the road to open. Those 2 hours that we couldn’t get back and made us rush on every site we have to visit.
I tried to call the company to have explanations and at least a gesture or a refund but the only answer was that they are not responsible for any of this and that it was not their fault. Totally uncommercial of them ! Without even having a notification of those possibilities ! Very disappointing ! Go ELSEWHERE !

Hi Lavibu, thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the situation with your tour. We know it is frustrating when something out of anyone's control, like the weather, has an effect on the tours. This normally does not happen, but we cannot predict the weather and are unable to notify anyone in advance of road closures or site closures. On this day, Masada was closed in the morning to weather conditions which we were not made aware of until the last moment. We wanted our customers to still be able to experience these amazing sites, and since everyone had already arrived for the tour we went to Masada as soon as it opened back up for the day. This is the same situation that would happen with any tour or tour company with such last minute closures.

The bus was late more than 2 hours, so I had to wait outside the hotel in the cold night and I finally didn't see the sunrise. Masada was amazing, but we had not enough time to enjoy it fully. Ein Gedi Nature Reserve was ok. We visited the northern part of the Dead Sea, with the muddy ground. The beach was a little dingy, sunbeds was cracked. For the price, the trip was average.

Hi AnnaB4529, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the bus was so late. We have looked into it and see that it was delayed because it broke down. Unfortunately, this is not something we have control over and we did our best to get the bus running and ready to pick up the group as soon as possible. We hope you still enjoyed the tour!

Thrown away at wrong place and cheated by bad driver

I joined in the Dead Sea, Masada and En Gedi trip on Jan13, and I really had a bad time with the driver of this tour. Overall, I was cheated and thrown away by the driver after the trip was finished.

On website I chose to be picked up and get off at "Gold hotel Jerusalem". In the morning there was only me to be picked up at Gold Hotel Jerusalem, and the driver asked me ask which hotel I stayed and he could simply let me get off there. So I told him that I want to get off at Yehuda Camp train station. And he said no problem.

However, after the trip is finished, he didn't realize his promise and asked me to get off at David Citadel Hotel with all other people, while people staying in Jerusalem all get down there. I argued with him, but he said he didn't have time to drive to either Gold Hotel or the train station. I asked him to drive there but he refused. Moreover, he even tried to cheat on me. He told me that Yehuda Camp station is only 300 meter or 5 minutes to walk from David Citadel Hotel. I didn't believe but he simply asked me to leave asap.

This is ridiculous because I should get what I paid, and the driver didn't let me go down at either Gold Hotel Jerusalem or Mahane Yahuda station. And he said now he would go to Tel Aviv asap, this is the only stop in Jerusalem. I cannot understand why he tried to cheat the guest with such bad lie, and disobeyed what he just said at the morning.

Finally, at the Shabbat there was no store open and no one was on the street, I walked over 30 minutes as I had to find the direction at a dark evening. This was such a horrible experience because I got lost for several times and I have no one to ask for help. He really made an alone tourist as me in trouble and lost the confidence of humanity.

This tour started at 3:00 AM and ended at about 1:00 pm. It was a very good value for the number of activities completed in the short time span that was allocated.

I woldl recommend this tour if you want very good value fdor what you pay, are limited on time In Israel and are content to explore these locations without a personal guide.

We had a very early pick up and stopped an hour later at 4 for a coffee and toilet break at a decent stop. We reached Masada before 5 and started the trek up the snake path. We had to return to the bus by 8 am. The climb up in the dark in the snake path was an adventure. The sun was rising over the Dead Sea before we reached up. Then the sun played hide and seek and we got great views. But to reach back down by 8 we had to leave by 7 giving hardly any time to relax after the uphill trek and look around the fort, enjoy the views. After we got down the next stop was in half hour at ein Gedi to see some waterfalls in the desert. But we didn’t go up as it was tiring after the trek. We stayed at the cafe down which just had some drinks. Those who trekked up said the falls were good. The last stop was the Dead Sea where we were taken to a private beach. It was a good one and crowned our tiring day. We got back on scheduled time by 1. There was no guide accompanying. The driver drove reasonably well and gave instructions in English.

My husband and I really enjoyed the tour visiting Masada and the Dead Sea. Daniel our guide was extremely knowledgeable and relaxed. He is an archeologist and we loved the delivery of his knowledge. The minibus was air conditioned and had wifi which was good. Although getting to the Dead Sea and floating was a good experience, I felt like we were hearded like sheep into a small roped in enclosure. This is not the doing of the tour company. Anyway we had a terrific day.
