About
Add a visit to the lowest place on earth to your adventures! We will drive down to the Dead Sea area and stop on the way at the Sea Level Point. The first part of the tour we will spend exploring Masada, the desert stronghold fortified by Herod the Great, which was the venue for the last struggle between Jews and Romans during the Great Revolt. The remarkably well preserved fortress unfolds the shocking story of its end in 73 CE.
We will continue to the Dead Sea beach, one of the saltiest lakes on earth, where you will experience your body floating on water while you read a newspaper. It is also an opportunity to enjoy a cold beer at the lowest bars in the world (-420 m!).

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- W8572BDalexb0 contributionsExpert deep dive into Jerusalem! We spent two action packed days with David / Israel In Color in Jerusalem. The first was spent in the old city, exploring ruins, all the quarters, the temple, and learning about all the civilizations come on gone. The second day was focused on new jerusalem at yad vashem + israel museum. They were both excellent. I'd visited those places before but it was my dad's first time to Jerusalem and he was blown away. And for me it was the best trip to Jerusalem I've done. David's way of teaching connects all the dots for a grander picture of the history of the city. David's passion for the history of Israel runs deep, and his knowledge, being an archaeologist, is profound. Having him lead the way was great, we got to dive deep into all kinds of history and have fun doing it. Afterward, we were reflecting that our only regret was that the tour wasn't several days longer. Strong recommend!Written 19 September 2023
- C1815GAsarad0 contributionsA great way to take a deep dive into Tel Aviv life, history and culture. This was such a fun and informative tour - David showed us a huge variety of top spots along with hidden gems and totally blew us away with his knowledge of the history and life of Tel Aviv - would highly recommend his tour!Written 12 September 2023
- The S0 contributionsAwesome day exploring Tel AvivDavid showed us the highlights of Tel Aviv and gave us a great understanding of the history of the city. We started off in Old Jaffa where he took us to some of the beautiful historical spots before venturing on to Carmel Market, where we tried a variety of authentic and delicious meals, my favorites being the hummus and knafe. We ended our tour in the area around Rothschild Blvd. We had a great day exploring the city. David was an awesome guide!Written 22 August 2023
- kcagle0 contributionsHighly recommend this tour!We had an amazing trip with David and highly recommend this tour. We are a family of 5 with kids ages 15, 12 and 10. David, who has a PHD in archeology, is incredibly passionate about what he does and has incredible knowledge of Israel, archeology, history and all things Israel and beyond. He was able to relate to everyone and keep the kids interested and engaged. He was careful about everyone’s comfort, helped with tons of photos and was a lot of fun!Written 22 August 2023
- marmstropekar0 contributionsWonderful tours of jerusalemI highly recommend going on a private tour if Jerusalem with David. I was in Jerusalem for work and wanted to have a better understanding of ancient Jerusalem. We arranged two separate tours, one that explored Iron Age Jerusalem and the other the period of the second temple and Byzantine periods. I’m the tours were wonderful. David is an archaeologist, and very well informed. The trips were well planned and, as one can imagine, Jerusalem is an extraordinary place historically as well as culturally to explore. Thank you David for the terrific tours!Written 17 July 2023
- Judith P0 contributionsAmazing tour of IsraelIf you want to have a clear understanding of Israel from a historical as well as current point of view, you simply cannot do better than touring with David. My husband and I spent 6 days total with David touring from south to north. His knowledge and clarity is incredible and he understands the importance of going over things again and again if necessary since there is there is so much to absorb. You will have fun with him and come away with a picture of Israel that is beyond informative, memorable and enjoyable. We all know that Israel is a complicated place with a complicated history so if you truly want a sense of what it is all about, I cannot encourage you enough to choose David as your tour guide. Also, despite being a solo operator, he is so thoroughly organized and professional that you will feel you got the service of large tour operation without the added layer of having to communicate with a third party. My husband and I had an amazing experience!Written 10 July 2023
- Explorer632216000040 contributionsAcademic tour in Caesarea National Archeological Park with DavidWe were on a tour with David, a group from the University of Chicago studying and touring Israel. David gave us a tour of the Caesarea National Park. The tour went between The Roman theater, The reef palace, Archaeological Park and ended in The Old City and Port (with delicious meal!!). It stretches chronologically from the era of the second temple and the rule of the emperors in the Roman Empire up to the Middle Ages and during the Crusaders. The tour was fascinating and answered our two main requests: A. To be suitable for undergraduate and graduate students. B. To be interesting and not remain at the "dry" academic details. This is a challenging task for any tour guide, and we were happy that David was able to combine our two requests with great success. The students as well as the accompanying professors came back with a very positive experience. We are highly recommending Israel in Color and David’s tours.Written 9 July 2023
- Cosmopolitan3136090 contributionsGreat experience!David was awesome! We enjoyed the tour so much. It was our first tour while in Israel and he set up the score really high!! Amazing and knowledgeable, knows lots about the history. He is archeologist.Written 28 June 2023
- 816nadinea0 contributionsAn unforgettable day in the old city of JerusalemDon’t look any further. David is your man. Another tour guide who crossed our paths on the spectacular walk on top of the city walls told us:” Oh, you got David! You’re very lucky! He’s the best.” Indeed, he is. We enjoyed very single minute of the entire day we spent with David. His historical and archeological expertise is spectacular. Walking the old city with David is travelling back in time. You have no clue how much you’re missing out without the experience and knowledge of David, ranging all the way from contemporary politics to ancient burrial rituals and biblical seals. A highlight that particularly stood out amongst all other gems along the way was the archeological site close to the western wall to which David took us, thanks to his excellent relationships with the leading archeologist of the site. Any further questions?:)Written 9 May 2023
- hbreich10 contributionsFun Time With DavidDiscovering Tel Aviv with David was great. He took us all over the city from touring old Jaffa , the Carmel Market and the liberty trail. Be ready to explore and discover the old and the new Tel AvivWritten 4 May 2023
- MashBoy0 contributionsGreat tour with David!David organized a great tour that was informative and interesting to all in our family, ranging from age 9 to 83. David is not only a licensed tour guide, but has a PhD in archaeology, which allows him to provide more depth and detail than a standard tour guide would. We definitely recommend!Written 16 April 2023
- emtraveler240 contributionsBest Tour Guide EverDavid is an incredible tour guide. We had the best day in Jerusalem and he really brought this incredible city to life. - X3813HYmonicab0 contributionsExcellent Family Guide for Unique TourMy family (including my spouse, 2 teen daughters and a 9yr old) took a tour of Jerusalem with David Gurevich this week and had a very engaging and enriching experience. David took us to vantage points and into several lesser known gems (like the church of Alexander Nevsky) that helped us piece together and make sense of the history of this ancient city in a very unique way. He was also responsive to our kids’ occasional desire for snack breaks (loved our lunch stop at the Austrian Hospice!) and included them in helping tell the story of the sites we visited. His maps of what the city may have looked like during various periods helped tremendously to bring the ancient walls to life. We were so glad to have explored this beautiful city with David and highly recommend him as a guide.Written 27 March 2023
- Y1095INruthk0 contributionsDavid is a Wonderful Tour GuideMy husband and I had the great good fortune to have David Gurevitch take us to various sites and neighborhoods in Jerusalem that have special relevance to the issues facing Israel today. Our tour included a birds-eye view of Jerusalem (east and west) from the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization Headquarters, which was very helpful in illustrating the topographical (and resulting political) divisions of the City. We also visited the American Colony neighborhood and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhoods. Among other things, we learned about the long-running legal and political disputes between Palestinians and Israelis over the ownership of certain properties and housing units. David’s deep historical knowledge, combined with his expertise on current geopolitics, enables him to take events that occurred decades (and even thousands of years) ago and make them relevant to events occurring in the here and now. David's ability to connect the dots between past and present, and to do so in a way that is never pedantic but always engaging, makes his tour of Jerusalem a memorable and not-to-miss experience. My husband and I enthusiastically recommend David to anyone who is looking for a deeply knowledgeable, thoughtful, intelligent, and interesting guide who knows how to make history and the remarkable sites of Israel come alive.Written 23 March 2023
