- elisevI5304QD0 contributions3 days Huayna Potosi - best experience ever!We had an amazing experience with our tour guide on the mountain, Ivan Guia! His English was excellent, he motivate us, and he even took photos of us. Thanks to him, we both reached the top of the mountain on time! Most importantly, we felt safe the entire time. Definitely a 10 out of 10!Written 29 October 2024
- cl_mencec7290 contributionsAmazing ascension in 2 days with Ivan!!Jiwaki agency is really great, well organized and professional. Without any doubt I would recommend to go with them. The ascension in 2 days is perfect if you already have experience in mountaineering. We had the pleasure to be guided by Ivan, he was super professional, on top of the latest route to reach the submit safely!! I would reach out to him for any future ascension in Bolivia. Thanks!! 😊Written 21 October 2024
- 927kaneb0 contributionsHighly recommendWe had an incredible experience with Jawiki on our Huayna Potosí hike. The whole crew was fantastic, ensuring everyone made it to the top. 100% successes rate, which is rare. They split the group so there was a guide for every two people, which made the climb much more manageable. A huge shoutout to our guide Ivan—he’s an absolute legend and his support made all the difference. Gaby at the reception was very helpful, and the equipment provided was warm and of high quality. The food throughout the hike was excellent, and their timing was impeccable; we reached the summit just in time for sunrise, unlike other companies who missed this spectacular moment. It was a crazy experience with views on top that are truly unmatched. Highly recommend Jawiki for their professionalism and dedication!Written 21 August 2024
- magdadawidziuk0 contributionsAmazing experience on Death Road!I celebrate my bday on Death Road!🥳View was amazing, team (guide Waldo and driver Jose) super helpful, and cool people on bus. Everything well organized, good equipment, tasty snack and lunch😇Huge thank you for Jiwaki!💖Really worth to go with them🙂Written 11 September 2023
- stephenpF1617YD0 contributionsGreat experienceWell organised, professional and safe. Food was quite good considering the remoteness of the location. For those less fit or having difficulties acclimatising, try the three day tour instead.Written 7 June 2023

- JessyHi0 contributionsTerrible and dangerous equipment!Terrible agency for the Death Road Tour! We were a group of 24!! people. All other agencies that we met had groups of around 6 people. Also, the equipment was soo bad. My chain went off 3 times (only once a guide was behind me to help), the breaks were lose and they didn't get to manage it to fix them because they were just broke. The suspension was stuck and didn't work in the beginning. My gloves we're way to big and super old, so i got really bad blisters on my hands and of course that hurts really bad on a mountain bike trip. Everyone just got any equipment and they didn't care if it fits or not. Many other people had flat tires and other problems. They didn't even check the bikes once. They were super old and really f***** up. I advise everyone to pay 10€ more and go to the other side of the street. Its just not fun to have a tour with such bad, old, and dangerous equipment. P.S. they offer the trip via another agency and not by themselves. I think it is called Umeno. So avoid this one as well.Written 10 May 2023

- r0rysc0tt0 contributionsHuyana Potosi 2 day - sensational experienceFirstly, if you are in La Paz, you should absolutely climb Huyana Potosi. It’s challenging, but immensely rewarding and the views are spectacular. Secondly, you should 100% go with Jiwaki. The prices are as reasonable as you will find without compromising on quality / safety. Every one of their guides is extremely knowledgable, friendly, patient and great fun. The whole process ran very smoothly, from pick up, to allocating equipment, to meals, to climbing to base camp, to climbing the mountain itself. Great care was taken of the climbers who couldn’t summit because of altitude sickness, but 8/10 of our group made it to the top, and without the expertise / motivation of the guides it undoubtedly would have been less. Shout out in particular to Edgar for getting me to the top!Written 7 April 2023
- jakebN4373CK0 contributions5 STAR SCENERY WITH A 5 STAR TOUR GUIDEHighly Recommend this company. Rudy was our tour guide. Super down to earth and positive vibes. Kept conversations going along the way. Always kept safety in mind. They provide a meal at the top of the mountain which was nice. The landscape was absolutely surreal in this location. Never seen anything like it. The weather was wild. Even though it was like summer at our location there were storm clouds with thunder and lightening around the mountains right next to us. It was nice to watch and listen to. The weather was warm at the bottom then became snowy and windy at the top. Overall it wasn't that cold. The weather eventually mellowed out. Pro Tip: bring lots of coca leaves and (lay-hee-a) sweetener.Written 28 March 2023
- FranzP940 contributionsHuyana Potosi 2-day trekJust finished the two-day Huyana Potosi trek. It was an amazing experience and there is nothing that I would like to be changed in the future. My guide, Iban, was the best guide that I could have ever wished for.Written 26 March 2023
- RamonaDhaenens0 contributionsHuayna PotosíTogether with Jiwaki I did the Huayna Potosí trek. It’s the most incredible trek I’ve ever done in my life. The guides (Obidio, Iván and Ramiro) were so so kind and lovely. They’re young, super experienced, love their job, and know how to handle all kinds of situations. I cannot thank Iván, my personal guide during the 3rd day going up to Huayna Potosí, enough for helping me through this extremely tough hike. So glad he pushed me through it. He was soooo patient but also strict when we had to keep on going because of safety reasons. I definitely recommend Jiwaki agency for so many reasons but especially for their great gear amazing guides!Written 10 February 2023
- Hannah S0 contributionsWell organized, beautiful, great conversationMy friends and I did El Choro trek, 3 days 2 nights. We had so much fun! The guide, Bladimir, was awesome- he knew lots of plants and birds, and was all around fun to talk to. The porters were also awesome, and the food was delicious! The hike was intense, but they prepared us very well for it. El Choro is mostly descent on the first day, so make sure you are prepared!Written 16 January 2023
- DaveSolz0 contributionsBad experience! Transport-safety is obviosly not a topic for this company. We went to Mount "Pico Austria" for a day-trip today. Beautiful mountain and surrounding, really worth to go! We got picked up with an Oldtimer Dodge RAM 350 (at least 30years old). I do not have problems with Oldtimer, okay 50% of the seats were like deckchairs and not adjustable, but this is not a big deal. But on our way back we realized on the "Highway" that the driver couldn't drive straight ahead. He was fit and doing a good Job. But obviosly there was a problem with the steering. Back in the city the problem became obviosly, we got a puncture. Suprise, suprise, out of the car I realized that all tires were completly differnt and all completly worn. And another suprise we had 2 spare tires on the roof, guess how they looked like!?! Besides this the brakes squeaked as well as the suspension, but that I wouldn't call strange in Bolivia... We paid 50$/Person for this tour today with one Guide and a snack as lunch. I wouldn't call this cheap, so my expectation for a company with such recessions is a transport medium in "normal" conditions, for at least normal safety of the pessangers.Written 23 November 2022
- 761indiap0 contributionsDO NOT USE FOR DEATH ROAD !My bike was faulty, I informed the guide that there was a problem he said it was fine and then 2 minutes later the chain came off, got stuck in the wheel and the bike flipped. I hit my head on a rock, got a concussion, cut my knee and hip, the guide did not even ask if I was okay. They have refused to give me a refund and claim it was my fault when a guide and other bikers saw this incident, do not use this company!Written 17 May 2022

We went to different tour agencies but the profesionalism and charm from the Jiwaki agency convinced us right away. They spoke pretty good english and where helpfull and funny.
The tour was simply amazing.
Our guide William did it all. From start to finish he made us feel safe, cooked delicious food, spoke good english, listened to our needs, took great pictures on moments we couldn’t... He knows what he is doing and could tell us a lot about the mountain and how to climb it.
If you are looking for a tour to Huayna Potosi, go to Jiwaki!

5 star rating for food, shelter, guides, and clothes and climbing gear from the company.
However, the office states that 70% reaches the top. In our case this was 25% (2/8). Personally I reached the top, but my girlfriend didn't. Please understand it is not an easy thing since you not only need to be fit, you need to be fit at this altitude and you need some pace to reach the top by sunset.
Conclusion, if you really know where you are getting yourself into, i would definitely recommend this company! Well organized and experienced!

I did two trips with this company. One day Peak Austria 5350mt and three day Husgna potosi just over 6000 mt. On both occasions the guides were very friendly and supportive. Good level of information and great company. I am 66 years old and they managed to get me up both climbs. Good company to go with very reliable, safe and with good quality equipment. One guide to every two people so if one person has to turn back they have spare guides to take them down and the other person can carry on.

I highly recommend Jiwaki to anyone wanting to climb Huayna Potosi or explore the Cordillera Real. We did a 5 day trip with Jiwaki - starting with 2.5 days in the Cordillera Real including climbing Pico Austria and then straight into the 3 day Huayna Potosi ascent. The days hiking before really helped with our acclimatisation. Jiwaki exceeded our expectations - delicious food, supportive and encouraging guides, excellent equipment. So we’ll organised - the guides really know what they are doing and I always felt safe and confident with them. Overall a fantastic experience. Thank you so much especially to Rudy and Eric for the first few days and to Ivan for getting me to the summit even though I was struggling and for all the brilliant photos! Highly recommend.

All in all had an amazing 3 days. The difference between the 2 and 3 day tour is that you obviously have an extra day to acclimatise however you also get to practice some ice walking techniques on a nearby glacier. You also have the opportunity to attempt some ice climbing (not used on the actually summit attempt however was a great experience)
My guide on the main day was Eulogio who was superb. He supported me and even carried tea to help and ensure I made the summit. He was also nice enough to take photos (without us knowing), sharing with us later on to remember and reflect on the day
Would recommend to anyone (with a decent level of fitness)

It’s hard to write a comment to express the mix of emotions that I had. Literally best experience of my life. Couldn’t make it without the help of our guide Reynaldo that had the patience and good words to keep us going . I spent around 6 weeks at around 3400 - 3600m altitude in Cusco and la Paz ,but everything above 5000 is a game changer. I would recommend to take the 3 days and 2 nights .I’ve met people that unfortunately didn’t had the necessary time to do the 2 nights and tried to rush it and they didn’t make it to the top. Take 1-2 altitude pills just in case and always ask advice from your guide before taking them.

Jiwaki was a great company to do the hike with. I am a beginner climber with no pervious experience, and they taught me how to use all the gear and proper techniques really well so I was prepared for the climb. The gear provided by the company was also great and warm, and the food was amazing!!
Eulogio did the ascent with me on the final day to the summit, and he was the best tour guide I could have asked for. The Huayna Potosí climb was an intense physical challenge for me that I was not sure I would be able to surmount, however with Eulogio’s much appreciated encouragement, cocoa tea, and patience and we actually made it to the top!! He also was very funny and took lots of great photos, and spoke great English and French which was fun to have a chat 😊. I would highly recommend Jiwaki tours for Huayna Potosí, and would highly reccomend Eulogio as a tour guide !!

Earlier this year in May me and a friend joined the 3 day Huayna Potosí tour.
The trip was absolutely excellent and our guides made us feel extremely safe and capable of doing the tour.
On summit day my friend got altitude sickness but our guide, Willy, handled the situation perfectly! He made sure my friend was ok but never made too much of a big deal out of it and ensured my friend summited safely without panicking him. He kept spirits and morale high the whole time.
Would 100% recommend this tour!

Me and my friend took the 3 day tour and I cannot recommend this company or experience enough!! All the staff were clearly very knowledgeable, professional, and it was clear safety was their number one concern.
The food we were served throughout each day was incredible and also extremely nutritious. Very good fuel for the gruelling trek that lay ahead.
I unfortunately did not make it to the summit but huge shout out to José for going above and beyond to try to get me to the summit. While I was trying to catch my breath he felt my bag and thought it was too heavy and immediately starting taking things out to carry up himself to make it easier for me, he also gave his thicker gloves to my friend, and was constantly in on me and how I was feeling as he could see I was struggling with the altitude. José worked so hard literally trying to pull me up the mountain and help pull my friend up the ice wall, it was very clear he really wanted to see us make it to the summit. Thank you José for all your help during the trek!

We had an incredible trip to Huayna Potosi with Jiwaki. All of the guides were dedicated to making our trip run smoothly, be on time, be safe and most importantly, be fun! Ivan guided us on the summit climb with patience and expertise. We could tell he knew the mountain well. Our group of approx 14 hikers bonded right away and we were a supportive team throughout the 3 days. We were well fed, had adequate accommodation, gear and training to give us the best chance of reaching the summit. Do take the acclimatization period seriously before starting this trek and do bring or take Diamox (easily purchased at pharmacies all over La Paz) because it can make or break your trip. For someone interested in doing a hard climb up a glacier to a beautiful summit, this is your best bet at achieving it!
