Explore the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, one of Colombia’s most unexpected architectural wonders, during this 6-hour excursion. Head underground to the town's salt mine where you’ll discover this unique monument to human ingenuity. Back above ground, enjoy an included Colombian lunch and a tour of Zipaquirá’s colonial center.
What to Expect
Receive a pickup from your accommodation in Bogotá as you travel between 60 to 90 minutes to Zipaquirá to begin your cathedral tour. When you arrive in town, descend underground to spend 2 hours discovering the unique modern architecture of this religious structure, learning about its construction and key features.

When you return back to the surface, enjoy an included Colombian lunch of either meat, fish or vegetarian options. You’ll spend the rest of your visit exploring the colonial center of Zipaquirá, including one of the oldest churches in Colombia and Independence Square. You’ll return back to your Bogotá accommodations at the end of the day.

Seriously? Go it’s great!

Lorena and John were amazing! They were attentive, informed, and on time! We had some great Convo’s and a great ride. The salt mine was impressive even though it was tough visiting the bottom level. The altitude makes stairs hard, but it’s a cool experience...More

Exceptional Tour!

What an awesome tour today!! Karolayn is prompt and professional. We had a wonderful visit at the Salt Cathedral. Afterwards, we took a fun and comfortable walk over to Independence Square. During the walk, I became hungry (skipped breakfast). Karolayn was so kind and sweet....More

Great experience!

My husband and I took this tour in April 2018. We were picked up at our hotel on time and driven to Zipaquirá which was about an hours drive north. Our driver spoke little English but was very polite and our guide was a dream!...More

Disappointing

We are extensive travelers, and have gone to many salt mines in the world, Austria, Gibraltar and Poland being some of them. So we expected the same sort of experience here. We did a self guided tour, thank goodness, otherwise we would have been stuck...More

Such nice place

This is really a place to visit, beautiful location, fun to explore and you feel real treat. However it's best to go there on your own because you can enjoy it cheaper that way.
