About
We conduct our tours in partnership with the local indigenous communities, and help sustain their traditional cultures and lifestyles. As opposed to the usual sight-seeing tours, each tour focuses on only one specific ethnicity and provides a more in-depth introduction, as well as personal interactions with community members and their daily lives. Our amenities are also higher-quality and more extensive than offered by other tours, and our licensed tour guides, averaging 20+ years experience, more qualified.

I had a very unique experience with Myanmar Indigenous Tours. The bus left promptly at the prearranged time and drinks were provided on the bus. The company gave us longyi to wear so we could be sensitive to the cultural norms in the Buddhist Monasteries. The tour guide was very kind.

My girlfriend and I went on a guided tour with MIT. It was simply amazing even though for the locals. The bus is very good. The food is very traditional but worth it to try. The guide, brother Nay Myo, has a huge knowledge about the history of monasteries and very patient. If you visit Yangon I would highly recommend spending at least one day with MIT.

PS: If you're an animal lover, don't forget to take cat food. You'll see many adorable and friendly cats in the monasteries along the tour.

Unique Buddhist Monastery tour affording a perspective not found normally in a sight-seeing tour. Visited a number of monasteries, including classic century-old teak structures, and had the pleasure of interacting with monks, as well as community laypersons, and was introduced to the history and beliefs of Burmese Buddhism. Shared an authentic multi-course meal with the monks, cooked by members of the lay community. A definite must for those who wish to experience the secluded daily life of these monastic orders.

Dec 2019 • Couples
Having lived here in Myanmar for two years, we visited many of the well-known pagoda temples and felt we had a modest knowledge of Burmese Buddhism. This tour, however, really opened our eyes and exposed us to the austere and devout daily life of Myanmar’s monks in their beautiful century old traditional teak monasteries. Warm friendly interactions with them and community members. A shared lunch. Highly recommend.
