We did the one-day Mtshketa, Jvari monastery, Uplishkhte, Gori trip with Gamarjoba tours, which is a trip from Tbilisi and back. It lasts for about 10 hours but is so full of interesting history and culture stories that it does not feel that long at all. Our super-cool and amazing guides Miriam and Katherina not only made sure we had all the information but also gave it to us in a fun and interesting manner to not let us get bored. Uplishkhte is a cave city that involves a bit of climbing, so wear comfortable shoes. The views from the top will take your breath away.
The trip does not include the cost of entry to Uplishkhte (15 gel) and Stalin s museum (15 gel). A very warm and cosy lunch with a Georgian family (40 gel) was organised that included traditional Georgian cuisine and some Georgian music and dance which was perfect for the cold windy weather we had. The whole experience was totally worth it and I would recommend doing a guided tour with Gamarjoba to understand history and culture better.
Do carry a scarf and warm jackets as the weather changes suddenly and monastery visit require women to cover their heads as a sign of respect.
The Gamarjoba tour office is a uber cool place with lively music, interesting people to meet, and of course WINE and CHACHA to begin or end your day! The office guys are also extremely helpful and you can contact them anytime for prompt responses to help you with any questions regarding your trip. In the Covid times, they also have an arrangement to get the mandatory 3rd day pcr test at the office which works out conveniently.

Best guide and very nice group members in geo
I believe the local family lunch is really warming and so much fun during the gathering. Also, you will have deep understanding about geo history and culture during the visit to the museum and churches
I would strongly recommend this trip to the travellers when first coming to Tibilis or you are travelling alone
This trip lasts almost 10-12 hours long but always with laughing. Never feel boring or tired during the trip

Unforgettable tour! It is clear why Gamarjoba has the best reviews because they simply stand out in their service and offers! You are warmly welcomed in their meeting point, with free bottles of water, places to sit and chat. There, the guides will collect the groups for each tour. The Mtskheta tour with George Goldman is one of the best I have ever done in my life if not the best because he is so knowledgeable, kind, friendly and delivers information in a very clear and understandable way. I shared much of his knowledge with my friends back home and they were all delighted to discover more about Georgia. Really good job at explaining about Stalin's life at the museum in Gori. The lunch with the Goergian family is also a must, the food is so good and abundant, you can eat as much as you want and the traditional dance was soo cute. Everything was worth the money paid for it, it would have not been the same to go by bus or rented car because the knowledge achieved throught the guide and the interesting conversations were the real added value to it. Thank you so much!

Everything about this tour was a hit. From the amazing Maryam (our tour guide), who had an icredible knowledge of the history of the places we visited to our visits to the people who were on this tour with me. The view from up the caves is breath taking.

The highlight of the day was lunch with a local family. We had the best of home cooked Georgian cuisine with home made wine and entertainment. We danced, laughed and made merry and you could totally feel friendship and family among the travellers. Our host at lunch, Tamar, was the absolute best!

If you're visiting Georgia and looking for a way to learn about Georgia and have fun while at it, I would totally recommend that you take this tour.

I really enjoyed this tour! I mainly came for the Uplistsikhe caves but also really enjoyed the Stalin museum and lunch with the Georgian family.
George (Goldman) was an incredible guide that is very well informed. He taught us so much about Georgia and its rich history. His tour of the Stalin museum was filled with incredible narratives and information you wouldn't know otherwise.
I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Tblisi and wanting to do a day trip out to see some other highlights Georgia has to offer.
I also recommend checking the other tours this company offers as they are great! We also did the Kakheti tour and really enjoyed it.

This tour was outstanding! The cave city blew my mind. Our guide, Giorgi, was excellent. He also was a professional photographer, so whenever he was taking photos for me—wow! He was so knowledgeable, and he genuinely cared that we have the best day possible. His stories, jokes, anecdotes, etc were all so good! He saw how I gravitated towards cats throughout the day, and made sure to introduce me to the office cat when we arrived back at the end of the day. The lunch with a local family was one of the best meals of my life. The family’s sons came out and did traditional Georgian dances for us during lunch, we drank homemade wine and spiced chacha, and I ended up asking the hosts’ daughter (of age, calm down!) if she wanted an American husband. = ) Their dog asked for tummy rubs politely, and I was more than happy to oblige. I bought some dark, bitter chestnut honey from them, and it has been delighting my palate ever since. I’ve never before tasted anything so complex and interesting.

The Stalin Museum was fascinating. I need to return when I can spend hours reading everything. The monastery and church were the most interesting ones I saw in my entire month in Georgia. I’m not going to spoil any surprises—just go on this tour.

To date I have done four tours with this company, and they have all been flawless. I will be returning to Tbilisi in February and March 2022 and will be using this company during those times as well.

There's absolutely nothing negative I can say about this tour and Gamarjoba Georgia Tours! My family and I went on 3 tours with them, and all of them were incredible! This tour in particular was so saturated with the amazing history and culture of Georgia, from the phenomenal cave towns of Uplistsiche to the Stalin museum. Our tour guide George the "Goldman" was also amazing and incredibly knowledgeable and he explained everything in great detail and with great passion. He also gave us multiple perspectives when explaining the sites and their history. The lunch on this tour was definitely a highlight! A lovely local family welcomed us into their home and served us the most delicious food and wine, and they preformed some traditional Georgian dances for us. It was really fun to have lunch with George and the other people on the tour as we made some great friends as a result. Also, the views during this trip were gorgeous, especially from the churches we visited. Overall, this company, its tours, and its guides are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Gamarjoba Tours is just awesome, On a friend's recommendation, I went on a Gomarjoba Tbilisi walking tour, and I loved the experience so much I turned right around and signed up for this one. I was not disappointed.

First: response by Baya in the main office after booking is excellent. She contacted me right away with confirmation of reservation, itinerary, and necessary details.

When I arrived at Gamarjoba for the tour, the place was very busy, what with three tours gathering to set out for various parts of the country. But the staff did a great job of herding cats, keeping it positive and friendly. The whole Gamarjoba staff strikes me as being truly interested in their clients, and loving their jobs.

George, our guide, was simply terrific. Not only informative about the sights, but just a good person to chat with about life in Georgia in general.

And the sights: Uplistsikhe is simply spectacular! As a site of historical interest, I found it every bit as spectacular as Petra (we could argue about whether it's as visually spectacular as Petra; I truly think it was, in its own way. The view of the surrounding valley is gorgeous, and, the story of the place is pretty awe inspiring. Certainly George made it feel that way.).

Gori and the Stalin Museum were, well...I'm not quite sure how to define my feelings a day later, but I am glad I went, and, again, George did a fantastic job of giving context to the experience. To put it mildly, I'm not a fan of Stalin, but he certainly left his mark on history and I definitely got something out of this part of the tour, I'm just entirely sure what at this early date.

A lunch stop at a kind of local inn was an option, and I'm glad I took it. VERY reasonably priced, with traditional Georgian folk dancing after. Food was delicious, including home-brewed wine.

The Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral were awe-inspiring. The view from Jvari was simply gorgeous, and the history of the Mtskheta area is incredible.

We booked several trips with Gamarjoba tours agency in Tbilisi, this was the first one and the one we liked the most. It was a nice day trip from the capital that David made into a great experience by telling all his stories and playing all his music. Even the local lunch stop in Gori was a highlight, I definitely recommend this trip to anyone.

This was our 4th tour with gamarjoba and 2nd tour with the amazing George (Goldman). The entire team is beyond brilliant and would go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. Goldman kept us entertained throughout this long day trip, he is very knowledgeable and you feel his passion exude in everything he does! He is very patience, very respectful and engaging. After our long tour, he invited us back to the office for a glass of wine! This is something very normal for the Gamarjoba team but a completely new experience for us. Little things like these are what makes these guys different from any other tour operators. I would definitely pick them over and over again whenever I come back to this lovely country. Thank you to Baya as well.. truly the one keeping everyone on track.
