- Passenger192213363540 contributionsHorrible managerI rented a hanbok from Hanboknam Changdeokgung branch on Tuesday 31 Oct. The store had a good selection and the young woman assigned to assist me was very helpful and kind. The manager of the store however was something else. When I came back to the store, I opened my locker and went to change up. When I came out a few minutes later, my locker was locked and the key on my locker door was gone. So I told the manager that one of her customers must have taken the key and used the locker. She didn’t bother to listen to me and talked over me and insisted I pay for the “lost” key. I tried again to explain to her that I did not lose the key as I had opened it to get my clothes out but to no avail. One of her staff tried to explain to her but she told her off and then a Korean customer tried to help me by explaining to the manager. She retorted “How do I know the customer would return to open the locker?”. I gave up and paid her 10,000 KRW as she refused to give me back my ID unless I pay her. It was a very bad experience. She is not fit to be a manager as she treats her customers with not just disrespect but disdain.Written 31 October 2023
- Mkitc0 contributionsMust do experienceLoved dressing up in Hanboks. The staff were friendly and spoke some English, there was a wide selection of beautiful Hanboks to choose from and the whole getting ready and return process was easy! Definitely recommend!Written 29 September 2023

- wingtongw0 contributionsFun experience dressing upThis was the hanbok place that was included in the Discover Seoul Pass, where you can get to enjoy the experience for free for 1.5h. Reached early on a Sat morning and was lucky there was not much of a crowd. You get to pick out 2 hanboks to try on and I had fun mixing and matching the jacket and the long dress. There were a lot of choices for females, but not so much for males. The experience also include a free hairstyle (top up of 1000-3000 won needed for hair accessories/more elaborate hairstyles). I also rented a handbag for 2000 won to complete the look. As I didn't think that 1.5h is sufficient, I also topped up 10,000 won for 1 more hour of rental. Enjoyed my experience at Hanboknam and strongly recommend it! However I would suggest to head there earlier as it got super crowded at around noon - afternoon period, when I returned the hanbok. Hence service might be lacking and wait times will be longer (for dressing rooms and staff to tie your hair).Written 12 November 2022
- CherylR21700 contributionsDefinitely recommendSo much fun dressing up and getting pictures around the palace. The costume pieces were beautiful and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!Written 12 August 2022
- fengww0 contributionsOther hanbok shops nearby too .I came early but even the nicest outfits and accessories were too worn out . Hairdo was just ok because the person was in a rush and didn’t tie hairs securely.Written 29 December 2019
- JosefEUC0 contributionsShop is easy to findShop is easy to find. Sizesand Colour sets are limited. We arrived 9am and the choices of hanbok styles are limited.Written 1 August 2019
- Anil_Wanina0 contributionsVariety choice of Hanbok and great experienceVariety choice of Hanbok with many size. You can try up to 2 set of Hanbok but only choose one. Come with makeup and hairdo but if you want to added handbag or other accesories, you have to pay. But the addon price is cheap. Great experience where you can walk around to nearest palace or Insa-dong while wearing the Hanbok.Written 7 April 2019
- belleaah0 contributionsGood experience; come earlier to avoid the crowdShop was crowded at 1pm when we arrived, would recommend to come earlier to avoid the crowd. Staff were still efficient and pleasant, and they offer free hairstyling (and inner skirts, and a traditional hairband, depending on your package). Personally think the traditional hanboks are prettier but selection for both traditional and modern hanboks are wide. Location of the shop is about 10-15 minutes walk from both the Anguk station and the Gyeongbokgung Palace.Written 6 April 2019
- Sim A0 contributionsTrying out different type of hanbokIt's a fun 2.5 hrs of wearing traditional hanbok . Do try out the traditional ones as many people are wearing the fusion ones .Written 31 October 2018
- tanudy g0 contributionsA lot of choices for hanbokA lot of choices for hanbok that you can pick , but be sure to go there earlier (open at 9.30) so you can pick cloth that fits on you.Written 22 October 2018

- Carolina A0 contributionsBeautiful HanbokHanboknam is outside of the palace. You need to walk around 10 minutes to this place. Their hanbok are beautiful but you need to get here early around 10 am or you will run out of options.Written 4 July 2018

This place was pretty hard to find. In the group of hanbok shops this is the one with yellow store sign. It would have been helpful if the listing mentioned the name of the shop which is “Hanboknam.” Type of Hanbok available was mediocre. Hair styling was free but there are more fancy ones that you can choose from that costed a little bit of money like 3000 or 5000 Korean won.

I went with a couple friends! We rented some hanbok from a nearby place and then you can go into the palace for free. Though, entrance fee is only like ~$2 USD. The palace is really really pretty! It was also fun seeing a lot of other people in hanbok as well! It was quite hot as it was July, but it was fun regardless!

We had a wonderful time in Gyeongbokgung Palace, after renting Hanbok from this one outlet outside the palace. I think it was owned by a family, a couple and theiir son. Very good service. I didnt expect the rental to be very cheap. It includes a handbag to carry our personal belongings, safekeeping of our bags, make up, hairdo and other accessories.

No one to help out and decided to help ourselves. Went to the cashier, paid for the amount they told me. When I came back after touring the palace, they said I did not pay for the men’s shoes and made a comment that almost felt like I was being accused of stealing/robbing them. I checked before to the cashier and I believe it would be their job to check whether or not they have received all their money. Don’t accuse me of not paying and make it my fault. It was not a pleasant experience. I would prefer to go to the next doors nearby. Better service and slightly cheaper.

This was the top thing on my parents bucket list when it came to going to South Korea for the first time. There’s numerous rental stores around this area and it was hard to find the actual store. They gave us a locker to store our valuables in but it was broken so good thing we checked if it worked first. I understand that usually in Asian countries the sizes are way smaller compared to the U.S. but I was hugely disappointed to find that if you usually wear a medium or larger that you can only pick from a small part of the rack which lacked so much in different color choices and designs compared to the many other racks We were one of the first people in line and the short collection to choose from would suck even more if we came in a later time especially if all the custom larger sizes are all rented out for a few hours to see the temple. There was one very accommodating worker but everyone else seemed to be rushing us through the experience.

This was my first time wearing a Korean traditional costume. The staff were very helpful and conversant in English and helped me pick out a beautiful Hanbok.
I wish I was informed beforehand that I was allowed free entry into Gyeongbokgung Palace because of my Hanbok. I actually purchased a ticket to enter Gyeongbokgung Palace but found out too late that I didnt need one!

I like the experience. The lady that helped me dress were so sweet and nice same as the lady that did my hair. The only reason why I don’t give the 5 starts it’s becase the check in lady was kind of rude and we didn’t have too much choices of Hanbok. But I still recommend you to do the hanbok experience.

I was looking for a place to rent some korean traditional hanbok near Jongro and I found hanboknam online. They were really friendly and spoke a bit of english. They got so many beautiful Hanboks and it was quite hard to choose one! It’s really convenient cuz people renting hanboks here didn’t have to do the ticketing for Gyeongbokgung palace which is very competitive ;) Also, there’s an app called DealightMe that showed me how to get more discounts so it would be helpful. This time I’m getting a partial cash back using my Mastercard. I would visit again with some friends next time to get more photos. Loved it and will come again.

My family and I booked the Hanbok Rental Experience. When we arrived at the place, there was not much help with interacting us what to do. We had to ask what we needed to do. We were pretty much left on our own to choose, what we were unfamiliar with......only person helpful was the girl steaming the clothes next to the dressing room, who helped us to put costumes on right........
Worth renting, to visit the palace, but staff should be more helpful, and explain process better.

Does this experience also include a tour of the palace?

What do we wear underneath during winter!? Our own base layers ?
Written 20 December 2019
Hi! Yes, you may wear your pullovers inside. The Hanbok is quite loose so inside clothes are well covered.
Enjoy your trip!

Hi, do we get to choose the timings to rent our hanbok if we purchase the package here?
Written 26 May 2019
When I purchased this package a time frame was given to us and we just went during our assigned time.
