- LLBeantown0 contributionsFun class and opportunity to see the residential side of SeoulFun class and opportunity to see the residential side of Seoul! Sarah also share recipes and pictures with you after the class. All the ingredients, she used are very common and easy to get in regular Korean supermarket. You’ll also get to meet other International English speaking visitors, who share their traveling stories! Highly recommend!Written 19 November 2023
- Sandra F0 contributionsSo much fun!We had so much fun learning how to make bibimbap, seafood pancakes and meeting new friends! I highly recommend this class. Everything was delicious and our host Sarah was charming, entertaining and informative.Written 14 September 2022
- redandpinkmatch0 contributionsLovely Hostess - Part Tour, Part ClassI thoroughly enjoyed her class today! We went to the market, and she explained many of the things we saw. She purchased a few snacks for us, then we went to her place (4th floor, no elevator) for the cooking class. We made bibimbap, seafood pancakes, and a chicken dish. The instructions were clear and simple. The food was good!Written 24 October 2020
- Toni Z0 contributionsRegular homemade food experiencesTeenaged son and husband were happy about the experience. The menu included daily kind of homemade food - seafood pancake, mixed Vegetables and meat rice and stir fried chicken. The side dishes and soup were made by the chef. To be frank, I was disappointed as no New Year’s specialties, side dishes nor traditional food were included. I was also looking for more sharing in Korean culture, too.Written 25 January 2020
- dougn19860 contributionsFun cooking experienceThe tour guide showed us around the local market and the group got to see and learn about so many different foods and sample some of the items. The guide was very kind and energetic and her cooking instructions were very clear and easy to understand. Thanks to her I now have more confidence in flipping a Korean pancake. Thank you for the experience!Written 26 November 2019

Jung Hee brought us through a market tour which was really insightful as it felt like a short walk through a local’s life. She introduced korea cultures, and food products to us. One can really really feel the passion and joy from Jung Hee throughout the whole session. During the class, everyone had one gas stove each and Had a full hands on experience. Apart from that, the food turned out really amazing delicious. We really appreciate Jung Hee’s efforts and thou mi ghts that she put into each class. We really think that this is one class that shouldn’t be missed! Thank you Jung Hee for the amazing class and we hope to see you again!Written 14 November 2019

My husband, son and I visited Seoul, South Korea over the Chinese New Year Holiday and my son who is 29 and I decided it'd be fun to take a Local Cooking Course together to learn more about the food and culture. While in Seoul we went to see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the South Gate, visited Museums and Palaces and different Markets and Districts but going on this Market tour and participating in the cooking class was definitely one of the highlights of our time there.
We chose this cooking course based on Trip Advisor reviews and we think we made an excellent choice.
The transaction through Trip Advisor with the Chef Junghee Yoon was smooth and she sent us an email right after our booking to confirm our meeting location and times, etc. Getting to the Mangwon District from our Hotel in Myeondong District was easy and took about 30 minutes on the MRT. Junghee met us outside a set MRT station and then brought us first on a walking tour through the Mangwon Market which was an amazing experience. There's everything at the Mangwon Market from fresh fruit and vegetables to food booths, hand made noodles, fish, live octopus, seaweed, you name it! Junghee gives you a ton of information about the food you pass by and both my son and I loved the walking tour just as much as the actual cooking class itself. As part of your payment for the class Junghee also purchases a couple of snacks at the Market for you to try. So cool and so yummy!
It's a short walk from the Market to the cooking class located within Junghee's home and the atmosphere is bright and cheery as is Junghee herself. She has a great set up and can accommodate numerous students at one time. Turns out that the end of January is a fairly slow time for her so my son and I had her all to ourselves and had a one on one cooking experience which was a lot of fun.
Junghee supplies all the ingredients, give you a cup of warm barley tea when you arrive, and teaches you cooking techniques in order to produce a very lovely meal that you get to enjoy at the end of your class. This particular day our menu included Bibimbap, Dakgalbi (stir-fried chicken), a Seafood pancake, and a fermented soy bean paste soup which was incredible. We even got to taste the South Korean rice wine called Makgeolli, which was interesting.
I can't recommend this class highly enough and I wouldn't change a thing. Junghee took a few photos of us during the class which she sent to us afterwards along with the recipes for the items that we made that day. She's a really good instructor with a great command of English and it was a really positive experience. Worth every penny.
Thank you so much Junghee. It was a real pleasure to meet you and get to spend a few hours in your lovely area.

You start with a tour of the local market where you learn about the food and traditions of the locals. You even try some street food which is amazing!
Then you continue with the cooking class where you learn to make several traditional Korean dishes. The atmosphere at the place is amazing and because the groups are small you can make friends with the other people.
At the end you get the full recipe of all the dishes you cooked and you eat what you cooked. You leave with a full stomach and since the tour takes only half a day you have the rest of it to do other activities.
To get here is very accessible by subway or bus but I recommend the subway as it is cheap and very easy to use. All signs are in Korean and in Latin letters too.

Where do I begin?
Junghee is a phenomenal host and such a natural at teaching. After the cooking class and local market tour, we felt that every single minute and money spent was incredibly worth it.
We started the class with a tour of one of the local markets in Seoul. She educated us on all of the market stalls - we learned how to pick the spiciest chilis, the best garlic, seaweed, sesame seeds, and more. She even stopped at a few of her recommended stalls to try their food, and they absolutely did not disappoint! She immediately made our class of 10 feel comfortable, telling stories and helping us open up to each other. The market tour was so good, we went back another day (and ran into Junghee again! Seeing a familiar face was such a joy on our trip). She also taught us a few essential phrases in Korean, which we used later on our trip!
The cooking class was fantastic as well. Junghee welcomed us into her home, where we met her family and learned more about her love of cooking. She ensured everything was sanitary, ensuring we all washed our hands before cooking and we didn't need to handle raw foods. We cooked many recipes and Junghee's instructions were easy to follow even for beginner cooks! Junghee even made sure to take lots of videos and photos of us cooking that she shared with us afterward. The food we made was delicious - my favorite was the seafood pajeon, which we will be making lots of! The class didn't stop there. Junghee is so supportive with any follow up questions we have for her when we shop for ingredients or start cooking any of the recipes.
On top of all of this, Junghee prepared a dessert for my husband, whose birthday fell the same day as our cooking class. Absolutely blown away by our experience. Gamsahamnida, Junghee!

Jongyee led us with delightful energy through a locals market that was packed full of fresh food. We picked up product and snacks along the way before entering her home/cooking school. There she led us with enthusiasm making 4 dishes that all turned out delicious!

After meeting at the Metro Station, we had a tour around the local market, before heading to the building where we were going to cook our food. The market was a considerable size, and we were able to try some of the local street food. Junghee knew so much! She was able to explain in detail about local produce, and quickly made you feel at ease when walking through the busy streets. Once we entered the building, we made our way to the kitchen stations and were talked through what we were going to prepare. The whole experience was amazing, and the food tasted really good as well. I highly recommend going on an empty stomach because there is so much to eat. At no point were we rushed, or made to feel that we weren't welcome. The group even got to meet the family's newest member! All in all, I had a fantastic time. The people I got to share the experience with were really nice as well, and I had a nice chat with Junghee before I had to leave to catch my train. Thanks for the experience!

As everyone had a good review, Jonghee’s cooking class was great. It was organized and enjoyable. I recommend the morning class as the market is more active and has many products in the morning. She used to run a cafe, and her recipe is Korean but a adjustable according to the preference of joiners. She is also a traveler and has a lot of stories to tell. Do not miss her class when you have a chance to visit Seoul.

I have been living In Seoul for 8 months and still hadn’t had much knowledge on cooking Korean food. Junghee was so kind and welcoming us into her home. She was funny and the whole experience was so educational. I feel very comfortable being able to cook these recipes on my own. The food was delicious. I would love to do this again and I highly recommend this to anyone visiting or living in Korea.

I absolutely loved Junghee’s class. It was so fun & we prepared & ate really good food! I love Junghee’s passion for cooking & her knowledge of superb Korean cultural cuisine (to include her very simple yet friendly teaching style). She also possess a cute & warm/welcoming personality & her English speaking skills are superlative. The (4) menu items she chose for us to prepare that day were perfectly selected.
I highly recommend attending her cooking class if you want to create a memorable experience while visiting Seoul & would like to indulge in some really good Korean food. You will not be disappointed, satisfaction guaranteed 🥰 She also takes you on a brief tour of Mangwon Market (probably one of the best & only markets you need to visit while in Seoul) allowing you to partake in some unique treats - (her treat to you) prior to the start of your cooking class. We travelled all the way from Hawaii & we left very impressed with our stomachs full of pure delight 💖

Such a great experience, would highly recommend to everyone! Junghee makes the market tour and cooking class so much fun but you also learn a lot. And there is tasty food/drink to enjoy from start to finish!
I also think you really benefit from going to Mangwon market vs one of the bigger ones - it’s less busy and Junghee really takes the time to stop, look at and explain things. You can get a real insight into what it’s like for those that live locally and shop in this market for their groceries everyday. Doing the cooking class in her home makes it feel so cosy and comfortable!
Worth every (very affordable) penny!

This was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Sara met my boyfriend and I outside the metro and off we went to the market. She showed us how to purchase fresh chili powder (ground on the spot) and identify different unfamiliar Korean vegetables. We sampled different tofus and relished in the amazement of the variety of fish, rice cakes, and fruits as well. Once to her apartment (only a block from the market) we were offered barley tea and a colorful Korean apron. She has a lively and welcoming set up in her home fully stocked and prepared to hit the ground running. She was fast paced, easy to understand and follow in direction, efficient, and excited. We prepared 3 of the 4 dishes, while she instructed us on a soup that was very simple for adding to the repertoire in the future. Bibimbap, seafood pancakes, bean curd soup, marinated chicken (dakgalbi) were on the menu. After trying our hands at flipping the pancakes (first time and we nailed it!), the spread was ready to eat along with rice wine that was offered. It was delicious! Come to this class very hungry. We had to roll ourselves out to the road to catch a taxi because we were so full!
Overall, everything was perfect, well paced, delicious, and memorable. Please join this class and give Sara a big hug from the Americans! We hope to be back for the next menu.

Hi, I am super interested in Korean food and would love to join in on this class.
I just wonder though, I don't eat red meat, like cow or pig, I am allergic to it.
I do however eat chicken and fish.
How or would this impact my being able to participate?
Thank you kindly. /Kim
