About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- SandraKayW0 contributionsWonderful!!!This was one of the best tours we have ever had!!!! We have take many tours all across Europe and this guide and driver excelled !!!Written 3 October 2024
- Travis M0 contributionsFriendly Guide - but cannot recommend this service after very scary and stressful ride back to the port. While there were some bright spots and we saw many important sites, overall our day was disappointing and very stressful. I believe the root cause of the stress was a guide that lacked critical knowledge of the sites, and about how to navigate the streets of Alexandria and Giza. First the good: - Even though our cruise arrived later than the advertised start time of 6am (we were unable to disembark and meet the guide until 11am), the guide was able to adjust and we made it to three sites: Sakkara, Memphis, and the Great Pyramids site in Giza (this flexibility is one reason we chose a “private” tour) - the guide was very friendly and offered interesting stories and histories about some of the artifacts and pyramids we saw Things that Could be Better - While some private tour guides met their groups inside the gates of the port, we had to meet ours outside the gate (an additional 5 minute walk) and he was not holding a sign with our name - The car was a newer model with AC as advertised, but still felt very cramped for 3 people on the tour (the back seats were small) - The guide’s English seemed good, but he did not understand our requests for how to manage the day. We told him our top #1 priority was to see The Great Pyramids of Giza, but if we had time, we’d like to see Sakkara as well. We stressed to only see Sakkara if time allowed. He took us to see Sakkara first, but for only 20 minutes, then took us to Memphis (which we didn’t ask for) and then to the Great Pyramids minutes before they were to close. He told us “don’t worry - you will have a few hours to walk around the Pyramids after they stop letting people in”. This was not true and the security guards started kicking us out within 15 minutes of our arrival. We barely got to see 1 Pyramid, had to take “drive by” type photos of the Sphinx, and spent no time seeing anything else on the site. Had we known this before we would have skipped everything else and just gone straight to the Great Pyramids. What was Terrible and Scary - the driver and guide got LOST driving the streets of Alexandria trying to return us to the port. Traffic was heavy and they kept “trying to find a better way” rather than just using google maps which showed the way, and also showed the travel times including traffic. Every turn they took ADDED time to the trip, and at three points they rolled down the windows asking locals for directions back to the port. The streets were chaotic and jammed, and we nearly missed the “last call” to get back onto our boat. We spent over an hour driving in circles in Alexandria. It was very stressful and very scary.Written 20 July 2024
- popeourfriend0 contributionsA Mini food walk around AlexWaleed did a good work of taking us on a food tour downtown Alexandria The tour started with eating some egyptian delicacy: liver in bread. The liver was good but would have been greater with more onions. He did do something extra and took us to the St Mark Coptic Orthodox church, and it was its remembrance of the bombing. We took a long walk downtown Alexandria, and he gave us a tour on other parts, monuments, and structures, including the Opera. That was really commendable of him. Then we did some coban drink, kofta, baba ghonish. Turkish coffee and not forgetting egyptian sweets. What could go better: Take the customers to an Egyptian type local resturant with different types of food mixes(a table with little portions). Also reduce the walk around and add some interaction with the local chef. Have more food choices... Egypt food is vast and varying.. But overall I would say with all the improvements it would be better because Waleed is a good guide. What was great: the history discussionsWritten 13 April 2024

- mindszamzam0 contributionsAmazing experienceBefore going for the trip to Egypt, I read about the Cave Church in Mokattam Mountain. It’s fascinating story, I requested Mostafa El Shakkhab to arrange a private tour for me. The tour guide Mahmoud came and pick me up from the hotel. The ride going inside this Garbage City is amazing, sometimes I hold my breath how narrowed the road, maybe an inch distance to the next car, our excellent driver maneuver his way around. From the top of this mountain, you can see the city of Cairo. Unbelievable carvings made from hands using out of scrap metals . This Monastery of St. Simon also known as the Cave Church can seat 20,000. The Coptic Christian uses the church as place of worship and meditation. There was a funeral during my visit but I was allowed to go up to the top of the opening of this cave church . An amazing experience!Written 25 October 2023

- Hotelranking0 contributionsAlexandria TourThe tour was the most amazing experience ever. Mahmoud was incredible as our guide. He is not just a guide but a graduate of Egyptology from Alexandria University and his knowledge of everything was so mind blowing that we spent the whole tour spell bound by him. The best your experience we had ever had and highly recommend as an essential experience to everyone. JulieWritten 5 October 2023
- Alabamakush0 contributionsPoorExtremely disappointed ☹️ extremely unorganised, we had to remind Emo tours daily what activities we had booked , it was so bad my partner and I ended up arguing the whole trip! We had four different tour guides in total , two of the tour guides where fantastic , the other two not so good , we have also over payed as the trip is far cheaper now than it was when we booked , Emo tours please work on your communication , you could have cost me my relationshipWritten 4 April 2023

- gcrean150 contributionsMust do tour in Egypt!I went on the Great Pyramids tour including, Sakkara, and Memphis with my family and we had so much fun! Pick up was simple and the day ran very smoothly as our tour guide, Mohamed Hamed, handled everything. He also gave a great tour with interesting history facts at each of the locations. He also gave us time at each of the locations to look around a bit on our own and take a lot of photos. Mohamed also took a lot of great photos of us as a family which we will have forever! We stopped for lunch at the end which was both delicious and filling after a lot of touring. Overall the experience was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun, history filled, easy tour of some of Egypt’s must see sights!Written 25 February 2023
- Jdapilos0 contributionsDefinitely 5 Stars!!Very well organized, friendly and great to deal with. Tour guides are friendly and very helpful. Everyone is very flexible and we managed to move our days around to get a better schedule with the advise of Emo Tours Tour Guides. Tonsi was superb in educating is with Egypt’s rich history, culture and inside stories. Tonsi is an expert in giving awesome spots for scenic pictures. With Tonsi and Mina around, you will surely have a pleasant experience and you will definitely feel VIP hospitality. You can trust them with their tour, schedule and planning advices. Emo Tours is the best company to deal with given our 10 day stay in Egypt. We tried to deal with several companies and ended up cancelling most and Emo tours were always there to save us even in last minute airport transfers. If you have been to Egypt, you would have heard the phrase which after a while would have already put you off. But with Tonsi, Mina of Emo Tours, it is really really “No Push, No Hustle”. You will only realize this when you have dealt around Egypt. We are really really pleased with our experience with Tonsi, Mina and Emo Tours.Written 26 January 2023
