About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- barb7torontotoronto0 contributionsFlight attendant never stopped talking. It’s one in the morning, people are tired, read the room!We usually love Air Transat but this 2200 hour flight was disappointing. The plane was freezing cold and never warmed up the entire trip. We were seated right at the back and everyone was trying to sleep but the male flight attendant never stopped speaking in an extremely loud voice throughout the entire trip. Everyone was exchanging glances and probably hoping he would quiet down, he did not. It was unacceptable to still hear him yammering on. One in the morning! Worst flight ever. Hope someone ,emotions this to him.Written 16 March 2025
- Traveler479293849310 contributionsStay away from Mody Travel and Mohamed GobranCRUISE Aswan and Luxor are beautiful and lots to see. We sailed on the M/S Mojito, modern ship with enough facilities. Our cabin was spacious and very clean. We especially enjoyed the creativity with the towels. We had a dog and a monkey hanging from the roof. Food was excellent, we especially enjoyed the Oriental night served on the sun deck. The one and only breakfast on the ship was the best breakfast we had until that point. Two of our breakfasts were takeaway as we started the day very early. However, the 7 of us in our group were extremely unimpressed with the takeaway. We brought this to the attention of our guide who then spoke to the restaurant (manager). He did try to accommodate us but unfortunately didn’t get it right. I was warned by family and friends that we will definitely get scammed, which I took with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, I didn’t expect that from our guide Mohamed Gobran. On the first day that we met him, he explained that it would be better for us to pay upfront for all our temple / museum entrances he also said that we should pay the tips over to him and in turn he will pay it out. Everyone else in the group accepted this so my daughter and I felt comfortable doing this. Until, the day of our Hot Air Balloon trip, when the captain, Mahmoud an elderly person with many hours of flying to his credit, said to us we should tip the guys as they worked hard on that day. It was only then that I realised that something was amiss. It was at this point that I began replaying the situation. · If Mohamed only came to the Hot Air Balloon site when we landed, how was he going to tip the guys doing the hard work? · Why did he insist on us paying in cash for the entrance fees and tips? He told us we could pay by card at Aswan Spice shop but they would add on an additional 3%. He also made the driver stop at several points to ensure we were able to draw the necessary amount as we had exceeded our limit. I also needed to lift my daily withdrawal limit in order to have the necessary amount on hand. · Why did each one of us need to pay a tipping charge? If my daughter and I ate at a restaurant or took an Uber we would pay 1 tip. In the same sense if we were sharing a cabin, we would give 1 tip. Of the six people in our group 3 were sharing. · Mohamed was adamant that each one of us do a Travel Advisor review for him. He pressured us into doing the reviews by sending us the links and continuously telling us our reviews did not appear. Each person paid 5465 Egyptian Pounds over to Mohamed of which $19 per person was for tips. There were many people who were so deserving of tips but we will never know whether or not they actually received anything at all. Even some of the drivers couldn’t speak English but made an effort to speak to us and offer advice. My daughter and I traveled through 5 cities in India with 5 different guides and 4 cities in Turkey with 4 different guides. We found every guide to be so helpful, unfortunately I cannot say the same for Mohamed Gobran who comes across as being arrogant. Even though I told him my daughter and I would like to buy some souvenirs and small gifts he didn’t offer any information. The only thing he told us was that we must be careful of pricing at a shop that he took us to because the power at the Perfume Factory was off. Obviously, I didn’t expect him to take us to the markets or souks but he could've, at the least told us where we could go. On Thursday, 18 July 2024, our tours finished at 12noon. We sat on the cruise boat until 5.30pm doing absolutely nothing. My intention for writing to Mody Travel is for future travelers not to go home feeling the way my daughter and I feel. Egypt is a country with rich history and culture and it would be a shame if I can not recommend it to family and friends based on our experience.Written 25 July 2024
- N3879IBsebastiang0 contributions5-day trip Cairo-Aswan-Luxor-AlexandriaOur trip so far is running perfect.. absolutely well organized and managed by our Agency Contact Ereen.. All needed info are provided on time and she always checks in with us to see if everything went fine and if we're good.. Amazing service and she even organized a birthday cake for my girlfriend when we checked in to our cruise from Aswan to Luxor.. Highly appreciated and thanks a lot 🙏🏼Written 6 July 2024
- Randburg0 contributionsGreat tour, but terrible tour companyOnce we managed to get on an actual tour, the boat, tour guide and experience was fantastic. However Mody Tours was responsible for causing havoc with our itinerary and budget as they cancelled our tour twice! One time a week before arriving in Egypt and another time two days before our cruise was supposed to start. Others on the same cruise experienced similar treatment. Each cancellation came with a short TripAdvisor message without any explanation for the cancellation at all. We lost money and time and had to book additional accommodation, transfers and lost money as some of our initial bookings were non-refundable. Based on our experience Mody Tours cannot be recommended.Written 30 June 2024
- Freedom054656661780 contributionsDo itMy 16 year old wanted to see Egypt since he was 3. I'm here to say that it was well worth the wait. He has come away with a new found appreciation and understanding of the Ancient Egyption period. I think a trip like this should be on everyone's bucket list.Written 7 June 2024

- E866COelizabethc0 contributionsGood experienceBrilliantly organised trip by Mody tours.its fast paced and a good few early morning starts. This is really a 5 day trip with so much great adventures on the schedule. mody looked after us with great care thanks to Mody great organisation. Only downside is..as time is limited I would recommend skipping the Nubian Village tour and definitely the terrible Karnak night light show.Written 24 May 2024

We took the nighttrain from cairo to aswan with our two blond daughters age 19/22. I think this is worth mentioning, because cairo is a busy station and many eyes. Many men looking. They started wearing scarfs to protect from all the eyes. So bring that!
Impossible to find right area to embark the train. So ensure you have support. We had a local drop us off and point in right direction.
Train is kind of shabby and dirty. Nevertheless a good experience (and on our request “no nile cruise”). Great choice for us, but prepare for backback-vibe and bring noice cancelling devices.
Bed is clean rest is very dirty.
Train arrived on time!

I can't remember what tour it was because we were actually blended with others. It was supposed to be a 6 say cruise. You literally cruise for 2 days and it's fast. If your vision is of this amazing Nile cruise this isn't that. You are busy. Up at 3am to 6am almost daily. This helps with the tours but there's almost no time for relaxation.
Whatever you do don't take the train. It's unbearable and they should stop offering it. The lack of cleaning and the age of the train it's better to fly. This is considered day 1
You arrive meet the guide and go to a temple on day 2.
While still docked in Aswan you go to Abu simble at 330am. The ship hasn't moved. This is day 3.
You finally cruise to Edfu in the afternoon. This is day 3.
Cruise overnight to Ko mombu Day 4
Cruise the afternoon to Luxor. Day 4
Wake up and check out of the cabin on the boat. visit Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple Day 5.
Send you on your merry way train plane etc Day 5
Wherever you wake up the next day is your day 6.
It's a 2 day cruise sold as 4 to some 6 to others using your travel days as "tour" days. Loved the guide but don't like the way Mody does business. Plus they put us on an older vessel while docked we had to walk through other newer ships 👎
