About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- bayleymj0 contributionsWant an exceptional, enthusiastic Egyptologist and a safety conscious guide - book with this company!Mahmoud couldn't have been more helpful. Cairo can be hectic, but Mahmoud is a safe pair of hands. Our tour of the museum was tailored to our interests, his knowledge is first class and is enthusiasm and ability to weave a narrative made the tour really stand out. In the bazaar he expertly guided us and gave advise without overstepping. The pyramids were great, but Mahmoud was the true star of the show, providing even more insights and tales to tie all of the other threads together. If we could have had even more tours with Mahmoud, we would have, but sadly we booked everything in advance - our other tours were not as good. If you're reading this, book and ask for Mahmoud.Written 4 November 2024

- NadoHS0 contributionsIncredible ExperienceThanks to Mr Mahmoud Adel for an amazing day out with family! He picked us up in an air conditioned van and was very knowledgeable about the history of the places that we visited. We had many questions for him and he answered them all! We had some family members with mobility issues and a baby as well, and I was worried that the trip wouldn't be enjoyable for everyone. But everyone had an amazing day, and Mahmoud tailored the tour to what we wanted to see and to fit our schedule. I highly recommend booking a tour with him! He can accommodate your schedule and what you would like to see.Written 13 April 2023

- 38neals0 contributionsThe ultimate private tour.We went on a private 2 day tour with Ahmed Shaban from Luxor to Aswan and back. We had a fantastic experience, driving through upper Egypt, exploring Edfu, Philae Temple, Abu Simbel Temple, Kom-Ombo Temple and the Crocodile Museum. We explored Aswan and the small towns on the Agricultural Road along the way. Ahmed is extremely knowledgeable on Egyptian Historical facts, an interesting and fun person to spend time with as well. Our driver was excellent, our car was clean and comfortable and stopping for local sugar cane juice was a special treat. Ahmed Shaban comes with our highest recommendations!!Written 8 May 2022

- Meander8231850 contributionsCairo tour guideMahmoud Adel was our tour guide for a full day trip. He was really knowledgeable about the history of each location and we learnt a lot. He also organised a driver for us and picked us up from the hotel. He was very flexible with tailoring the tour to suit our needs. We've recommended him to multiple friends and they have all had good experiences with him.Written 29 March 2022
- lahf10 contributionsGreat tour with an expert guideWe had a hugely enjoyable day with Mahmoud adel as our guide as he is hugely knowledgeable and gave us so much info on a huge subject . He’s also flexible on the itinerary so we could make the most of the short stay we had which we very much appreciated . I would also recommend him for other tours as his Egyptology research and background is extensive. We were picked up and accompanied throughout the tour which made a world of difference in a city like cairo as we would never have been able to see what we did solo ….Written 29 March 2022
- Thomas H0 contributionsA day rich with history, culture and good company!I was picked up in the morning and set off in the afternoon right at the door to my airbnb apartment - now that is service! The driver was just as nice as Mahmoud and the conversation during driving between destinations was entertaining. The car was clean and air conditioned. I spent a day with Mahmoud Adel visiting the Islamic and Coptic Cairo and I am impressed and grateful both by the welcome I got and the tour itself. Mahmoud started with the Coptic part of Cairo where we visited, among other things, The Hanging Church, via the Citadel and The Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali, The War museum and ended it with Khan Al Khalili. It says half day, but Mahmoud prioritises his guests and takes time for all the questions you might have (his knowledge is vast, trust me - I’ve been with a few tour guides), he also set of time wherever I wanted to take photos. The tour included a very tasty and filling lunch of local cuisine, and desserts at Khan Al Khalili. Treat yourself to a day of immense history, fantastic culture, food and last but not least: good company. I felt welcome, well taken care off during the day and safe! Thank you, Mahmoud Adel. 🙏Written 29 March 2022

We booked a tour of Saqqara on Viator and Mahmoud was our guide. He was very knowledgable, answered all of our questions and showed us things at the site that we might not have found ourselves.
We were picked up on time, everything ran very well.
We had never booked a tour through Viator before and didn’t know what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised.
A great little excursion

I took this tour based on title of excursion, Saqqara, noble tombs, memphis, and Dashur. Was picked up promptly, however the first stop was paltry shop and after buying nothing the next proposed stop was a perfume shop, however after noting I had no. money, we skipped it.
Due to misunderstanding, I was initially required to pay for my free ticket according to my itinerary to enter the site. The guide who I will not name did a less than average job. Arriving at the stepped pyramid we entered through the hall a d when we were in the court, he noted it was the first pyramid, it was built by Djoser. The he said take about 15 minutes and walk around the pyramid and courtyard. No discussion of the areas of complex, if I hadn't researched the site, I would have known nothing about the complex.
We next ventured to the Serapeum and the tomb of Ty, and one other tomb. So despite paying 600 pounds for the visit, we actually visited fewer sites than I had paid for. Since Egypt just switched credit cards only for the sites, the guide was able to get the ticket seller to use their cc so we could visit, the 520 pound included an additional 80 pounds for use of someone else's cc.
We then went to Dashur, where similar circumstances occurred. Having misplaced my pounds the guide said he would pay as long as I would pay him back (which I would) but also expected a 1000 pound tip. I informed him for a second time that Saqqara and Dashur were supposed to be ticket free. After calling their office, the issue was finally resolved. I was refunded 300 pounds, but not the extra funds paid to enter, since he lacked a cc also that caused me to pay additional money for set prices.
At Dash ur we parked at the Red pyramid which noted was the first true pyramid he gave me few minutes to take pictures. I thought we were to continue to the bent pyramid, but we did not. He implied there was another road to the pyramid and I thought that was where we were going, but we headed out Memphis.
We spent about 15 minutes there where he discussed the Rameses statue. We did a quick tour of the open air museum.
I declined the offer to get a meal and headed back to the hotel
My biggest problem with the tour overall was my perception that it was rushed and to get the guide more money. Several times he kept mentioning the tip. When he mentioned that if I gave him 200 pounds he would purchase a bottle of water for me it served to leave a bad taste in my mouth
I definitely tipped him more than deserved, if this occurred in the US I would have given nothing
Sadly a highly anticipated trip to these sites became minor horror. although unlikely to visit Egypt in the future, I would not use this company if I returned

First of all let me thank you for taking time to tell us in details about what happened to you in your trip with us to Saqqara, Memphis and Dashour.
1- about the money you did pay at Saqqara and Dashour I agree that this happened and we refunded all what you paid and it's our fault, but we didn't refund you the rest of the money because it was your choice to add extra tombs to the itinerary which is not included in the itinerary! And already you agreed about that when we call you to refund you for Saqqara and Dashour!
Regarding to your complain about the guide that he didn't explain well and he gave you a few information; I don't agree with you about this point as our Guide Adel is one of the best tour guides and I'm sure he did good job but I will consider it and will send the review to our general manager and we will see what to do with him.
Please accept our apologies and promise to take a strong action for the guide.
