We've been lucky that our hotel called Mahmoud once as we wanted to have a dinner in town. As he gave us good recommandations about the restaurants, we booked him every evening and he tailored us our evenings in Luxor with restaurants matching our tastes. The sites themselves are amazing, but the experience was enhanced by a Ashraf who was personable, fun, flexible and highly knowledgeable about ancient Egypt (and other topics for that matter!). Everything was easy and well explained. Combined with a great driver and a delicious lunch, we highly recommend taking this tour while in Luxor, it's a must do!! Enjoy! We have been to Luxor many times and as a result now feel comfortable arranging our own transport. Ayman Mahmoud was recommended to us by a friend. His Taxi was clean and well maintained and cold drinks were available to us throughout the trip. He was knowledgeable and helpful with regard to ticket purchases for the various exhibits and monuments and was more than happy to take us on a detour via the avenue of the sphinx on the way back.
He didn't take us anywhere we didn't want to go and he provided the exact service that we had asked for. We were out for 8 hours and the cost was very reasonable.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ayman as a good taxi driver whilst in Luxor.
