I’m guessing the extra cost is for the second travellers meals and venue tickets. Usually the more people you have the cost should go down as the guide and vehicle cost is distributed among the extra guests. When going from one traveller to two your paying 650 for the 2 rather 520 for the one right? That’s 325 per person instead of 520 per person if you booked for one. If I’m understanding this wrong and the website is trying to charge you 650 per person then something is not right. I’d get in touch with them. The overall price does seem high though. I paid $550 USD for 4 people. I’m not sure if your paying in AUD or not. Not sure on the exchange rate either. Also trivago/trip advisor is just acting as a middle man for these tours just like how you’d book a hotel through a discount website. If the cheaper tour companies are all booked up and they then have to book your tour with ones that charge more you will pay more. It’s supply and demand. This is speculation on my part mixed in with my limited experience with these tours. I booked 3 different Chinese tours when I was there. They were all excellent and the guides were very professional. I’m glad I booked through the website because they screen the guides and only use the best. On the tours the guides all told me if they get a bad review they will probably lose the business they get from trivago. Unless the traveller is unreasonable or there was some uncontrollable circumstances. Sometimes you get bad tourists too they said. That’s just another reason I’d recommend going private.
