- carolynj19820 contributionsThe whole experience was wonderfulOur driver arrived perfectly on time at our hotel, with our guide Lucy ready with him. On the way to the Great Wall she explained about Chinese history, culture and the history of The Great Wall. Lucy was incredibly knowledgeable and was great to listen to. We arrived and Lucy ensured we had plenty of time water, showed us where the bathrooms were and was kind enough to take some photos of us at the entrance before showing us to the shuttle bus. As we had decided on the option that had a guide, a driver and then cable car or chairlift & tobaggan tickets, Lucy showed us directly to the chairlift entrance. We arrived at tower 5 and Lucy knew the best spots for photo opportunities. Lucy showed pointed out lots of features along The wall and described it all in great detail. We walked and talked until around tower 10 and then Lucy let us explore a little on our own. We met Lucy at a designated meeting point before going down on the Toboggan. Lucy then took us to a traditional Chinese tea ceremony where we got to sample lots of different teas and we were able to buy some to take home. (this was optional and very expensive, do ensure you ask the price before agreeing to buy) We had time if we wished to go for lunch or visit the souvenir shops if we wanted. There was a little village with plenty of options to purchase food and gifts. We did purchase a few items before meeting our driver to take us back to our hotel. The whole trip was absolutely fantastic - it was great to understand the history and Lucy’s English was phenomenal. The tobaggan ride was something I’ve always wanted to do and I would 100% recommend this, it was so good!Written 10 October 2024

She picked us up from our hotel and took us to Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven. She also took us to a local Beijing tea house and a lovely restaurant for lunch. Along the way she provided us with an abundance of interesting and useful information about past and present day Beijing. She was kind, knowledgeable and funny. I highly recommend taking this tour, and l highly recommend Maggie as a tour guide!Written 9 October 2024
- EmF2440 contributionsWonderful day out in Beijing! Many thanks to Maggie and Mr. Su for a magnificent day out in Beijing. Everything was very smooth, making for a seamless visit to the major sites (Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven) plus a tea ceremony and delicious lunch. It was a lot to cover in a short amount of time but Maggie was very knowledgeable and did a great job covering the highlights. It was also a huge help to have her take care of all the entry tickets and not have to worry about that process for each site. Would recommend, especially if you have a short amount of time and want to cover a lot!Written 9 October 2024

Wendy our guide was such fun, very knowledgeable and we were very grateful for her assistance navigating us through the Tour. Wendy and the driver were very helpful taking us on the private transfer to the wall, ensuring we got on the shuttle bus, taking us to the cable car, helping us find the best spots on the wall and guiding us to the toboggan. This tour was the highlight of our trip to Beijing and I would recommend. Thank you Wendy.Written 7 October 2024

The tour company was fantastic keeping me in touch and Jeffrey the guide also got in touch and kept me informed …. To be fair could not have been any better
We met at 8am in my hotel lobby and proceeded to the private car waiting for us
The driver was courteous and polite gave me some chilled water and off we went
1st stop Tiananmen Square and wow how big ,Jeffrey was very knowledgeable and informed us all the way the history and era’s /Dynasty that things change
We then went to the Forbidden city and again it was truly mesmerising the history and architecture
After approx 2/3 hours we exited and the car was waiting to take us to the Great Wall
On route we stopped at a restaurant for dinner and it was very tasty
We arrived at the Great Wall shortly after dinner and OMG what a place .We took the chairlift up as it was closer than the cable car and good call the views were amazing and when we got to the top Jeffrey was in his element explaining the history
When you do these tours you always hope to get the best guide and on this occasion I definitely did
We left the Great Wall and drove back to the hotel were we parted as new friends
I can not say it was cheap as I was alone but it was amazing value and an amazing day
I can not heap any more praise on Lilly tours or especially Jeffrey
Would highly recommend!!!!!

We were met by our guide Sally at our hotel who outlined what we would do that day. Then it was off to Tiananmen Square followed by the Forbidden City. We then set off to see the Great Wall stopping for lunch enroute in an excellent local restaurant where Sally suggested our delicious menu selection. We avoided the market at the Great Wall and then onto the cable car to the wall itself. Sally stayed with my wife whilst I set off to walk the wall. Sally took us back to our hotel contented after a long, but very interesting day.

Highly recommend booking this tour with Lucy. Lucy was an excellent tour guide - she was very knowledgeable about each place we visited, and shared this in a captivating way. Despite being extremely busy as a public holiday, Lucy's attentiveness and organisation skills meant the day went so smoothly. It would be much more difficult to visit these places only speaking English (and you wouldnt learn nearly as much) - so highly recommend booking the tour with Lucy. Mr Young was also a great driver - felt very safe, and had fresh bottled water throughout the tour for us. For lunch we had authentic chinese food and it was the best food i've had in China. Thank you Lucy and Mr Young for an amazing day!

Our day out with Jerry was amazing. With rain forecast he swapped around our itinerary so that we still covered everything but in an order that meant we didn’t miss anything when the rain came and closed access to The Great Wall. Jerry’s English was excellent and he had great knowledge of not just the places we went but also our random questions about China in general. He was also super helpful when our son fell ill and needed time to rest and recover. We had Gary as our driver and he navigated the very heavy traffic with great skill. A fabulous day exploring The Great Wall and The Forbidden City. Thank you Jerry!

This tour was absolutely the BEST!! Sherry was our guide and she was phenomenal. She was so warm and friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She went above and beyond, not only providing amazing historical and cultural information but also giving us tips and suggestions for activities and restaurants for the rest of our trip. Our driver was also very professional and a skilled driver. We only had a short time in Beijing and this tour was perfect to check off the major attractions. It was a truly awe-inspiring day. In addition to the major sites, we also visited a Jade factory where we were able to shop in confidence that the items were real and high quality, and a tea shop where we got to have a tea tasting and purchase certified quality teas. These were just a few of the cool bonuses of the tour. This tour was easily the best day of our entire China trip and worth every single penny! If you get Sherry as your guide you will be very lucky!

We had an amazing, full and very busy day with Jeffrey - our guide for the day. Worth every penny and a trip that you would not be able to do any other way than with an experienced guide and driver. We had a one day layover in Beijing. Paid a little extra thanks to Lily for the driver to collect us at the airport, drive into the city to meet up with Jeffrey, have our tour and be dropped off at our hotel afterwards. Very comfortable air conditioned car throughout the day - we were treated very well. Jeffrey is outstanding and very organized - he helped you through lots of queues efficiently, sorted tickets and security with you to help maximize the time to see the three parts of the tour. The complexities of tickets, queues, traffic, language and security in Beijing are such that you really wouldn’t be able to do this without an English speaking guide. Jeffrey shared so much of his extensive knowledge about Tiannemen Square, Forbidden City and Great Wall which was fascinating. He gave us a few choices such as whether to take chairlift, cable car and toboggan run at the wall - we chose chairlift and toboggan which was fun. At the end of the day, Jeffrey helped book us in to our hotel - again not the easiest of transactions. Foreign tourists are welcome and safe in Beijing but some things are tricky - very few places will accept cards or Apple Pay - you need to set up Alipay before you arrive in China (Jeffrey then showed us how to use it). Internet is very limited and locked down. Jeffrey allowed us to hotspot his phone - even then we couldn’t use gmail, whattsapp, Facebook, or messenger. Internet was needed to use Alipay so worth being prepared for that.
We’re so glad we did this experience and would thoroughly recommend it. Great communication with Lily before we arrived in Beijing and a superb time with Jeffrey. Thank you so much!

Tour guide was great. Knowledgeable, thoughtful. No high-pressure gift shop visits and lunch was edible and filling. If you need to knock out two cultural monuments in one day, I recommend this tour. They pick you up at your hotel and drop you right off. Everything arranged.
As for the monuments themselves…..
Forbidden City. If you can avoid the summer, avoid the summer. It was hot like hell and the crowds were maddening. Friendly, but maddening.
Then you have the extra security that’s been added onto the experience in the past few years. It was not pleasant. A few years ago, you just bought a ticket. Then you could stroll around to Tiananmen square without submitting a DNA sample along with your bank password. Things have changed. You might want to visit the Forbidden City, but whoever is in charge of the Forbidden City kind of wishes you’d stayed home.
Still, one of the prettiest office buildings I've ever seen.
My son’s Famous People of the World stickers was confiscated in the interest of national security. Not sure precisely which famous person was offensive. The son himself was returned me with a stern warning.
The Wall, I’m happy to report, was better. Still hot, but the section we went to wasn’t crowded. It’s fascinating to think how much effort went into building it. The weird things forced labor could accomplish before the invention of social media and the 40-hour work week. Looked just like it does on the brochure.

Kevin, our tour guide was amazing from start to finish. On arrival to our hotel, we were called by Kevin to confirm time of pick for our tour the next day, and also checked in to see that we arrived ok. He was very prompt with our pick up time and the day ran smoothly. He talked us through our itinerary and always made sure we knew what the plan was. Hassle free with ticketing and getting to and from our destinations. Kevin is very knowledgeable not only about where we visited (Tiananmen square, forbidden city, Great Wall) but about Beijing history in general. Always talking with us and giving us information throughout the trip. Very easy to talk to and get a long with. Kevin was also a great photographer and always willing to take our pictures. He went above and beyond to ensure we had an awesome day. I would highly recommend Kevin to my friends when they visit Beijing as he had already been recommended this tour by a friend who visited in May this year.

We had an amazing tour with our guide Jeffrey. Everything ran smoothly from the pick-up from our hotel in the morning and all the transport between the sites.
The tour is well organized and completely hassle free as all of the tickets for the sights are arranged by your tour guide and we had just the right amount of time at each sight with the option to spend more time at each if we liked. Our guide was so knowledgeable about all the sites we visited and answered all of our questions.
We had a delicious lunch in a local restaurant and our guide helped us to choose local dishes we hadn’t tried Which was great.
We got a cable car up to the Great Wall which was lovely and scenic, we also weren’t too tired to walk along the wall when we reached the top.
It was honestly the highlight of our trip to Beijing.
A tip to make sure you bring your passport as a foreign traveler to enter the sites and definitely bring a hat and maybe a fan if you’re visiting these places in the summer months.

Is this tour doable with an 11 hour layover at PEK in late Oct? Arriving international flight around 6AM and departing on a domestic flight around 5PM.
Written 29 July 2024
I am interested in the above tour and would like to book it for my family of 4 at the end of November.
I would like to inquire about the following:
- Is this a wheelchair-accessible tour? My son uses a manual wheelchair, and I want to ensure that this tour is suitable for a wheelchair user.
- What is the group size for this tour? Can we have a private tour just for my family?
- What is the mode of transport from the hotel to the tour destinations? I need to confirm if there is boot space to keep my son’s wheelchair.

Hi, i would like to get this tour for tomorrow but my hotel is not on the list, it is nearby to the international airport PEK, is it anyway you can pick me up from here?
Written 22 January 2020
I wish I could give you an answer, but we were
with a Viking Cruise / Land tour. They provided
the transportation during this trip.
Written 22 January 2020
Hi. What time would we be back at hotel? Flight out of PEK is 20.10 on Friday 17 Jan. Thanks Andrew
Written 2 January 2020
You are cutting it close, unless you do as what the other answer said and skip the Square and Forbidden City to just do the Great Wall. I was picked up before 8 AM at the airport Hilton, did all three sites, and got back to the hotel around 18:00. The big variable is traffic, it was very busy going into the city, so you may not get to the Square until 10:00 and it takes a good 2 - 3 hours to walk through the Square and Forbidden City, another couple of hours drive to the Great Wall, and 1 - 2 hours drive back to the hotel.
Written 2 January 2020
Hi, I will have one full day in Beijing, and I am looking at staying in a hotel near Beijing international airport. Is there a pick up from here? Thanks
Written 29 December 2019
I found them to be very accommodating and you can ask them about picking you up from your hotel near airport.
Written 30 December 2019
I will be arriving either Sunday night November 1, 2020 or Monday morning November 2. This tour will be good for Tuesday November 3. What do you have for Monday?
Written 4 December 2019
They have half-day tours, although I think those start in the morning, and you will have to arrange your own transportation to the meeting point. I would take the advice above, wait until the 3rd for a full day tour.
Written 5 December 2019
I shall arrive with family in Beijing at 12.00pm and my flight out is at 1.00am. A layover of 12 hrs plus. Can I take a sight seeing tour of 7 to 8 hrs in this time. Airport to Airport. Pls guide
Written 16 November 2019
Definitely. While many tours start early in the day, just book a private tour and specify the timing you would like. You likely won’t be able to do this specific tour with all three sites due to hours of opening but you can definitely do the wall and likely T-square.
