About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- arcuda0 contributionsBeijing forbidden CityWe had a transit stop in Beijing for 20 hrs on our way back to Melbourne AUS. For the 20 hrs, we booked a tour to take us around to the forbidden City. We had as our tour guide Jason with his driver. Jason is very professional and experienced guide explaining all the history of the Forbidden City. Jason was very kind and was very good with our kids too. I highly recommend Jason for guided tours in Beijing.Written 24 July 2024
- lolita7320130 contributionsFirst trip to BeijingWow, where do I begin! This was our first visit to China, we booked this trip from the UK in advance. Our guide Mel, met us at our hotel and on the first day took us to the Temple of Heaven, Tianemen Square and the Forbidden City. All our admission tickets were booked by Trippest prior to arrival which meant we didn't have to queue at all. Mel was super informative and gave us lots of information whilst we were travelling to the sights. Day 2 was Summer Palace and the Great Wall, a truly unforgettable experience. Mel took great care of us throughout the day, again giving us lots of useful information whilst travelling. He took some great photos of us and ensured we were comfortable throughout the trip. Thank you Mel - you were brilliantWritten 3 May 2024
- danielatS9881RT0 contributionsThe best way to experience the Great WallWe had such a great experience seeing the Great Wall on this tour. It is so worth the extra drive to go to this part of the Wall if you want no crowds and unobstructed, spectacular views! Lisa and the driver picked us up at our hotel and we had a comfortable drive out to this section. Lisa was very knowledgeable about the history of the Great Wall and led us on a great hike across the watch towers. The views were amazing! There is a bit of climbing if you want to go to the highest watch tower but you can choose easier route as well. We saw only 10-15 people on entire hike plus you get to see unrestored sections which was very interesting. After our hike, Lisa took us to a local restaurant where we had our best meal so far. The restaurant owner was very kind and let me into the kitchen so I could watch. Best homemade tofu we’ve ever eaten! On the way home, we saw a photo from the more popular section of the wall from that day and it was a sea of people! Do yourself a favor and book this tour!! We are very grateful to Lisa and our driver for this amazing experience. On the way home, as an extra bonus, we even did a short tour of the hutong district.Written 29 April 2024
- johngle0 contributionsChina Highlights Beijing Tours - excellent service, private but VERY pricy!Raymond and Selinda were our guides in Bejing from China Highlights and they were excellent and passionate and knowledgeable about Beijing - we would certainly ask for them again if using China Highlights. Very personalized service and private car. It's all top-notch but beware - it comes at a premium. We paid on average $500.00 per day for 2 adults and 1 child which included no train transfer and only one airport transfer.Written 21 April 2024
- weekendpant0 contributionsDumpling makingWe had a fun time making dumplings at a local lady's home in the Hutongs. Our guide Colin was first class, friendly and knowledgeable and very chatty. The lady who we did the class with was brilliant and managed to get us to make some decent dumplings despite the language barrier! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that I was expecting to make dumplings from scratch, making the dough and fillings and cooking them, rather than just assembling pre made ingredients, but it was still a lot of fun.Written 13 April 2024
- IceMDD0 contributionsIntimate Experience As a Small GroupLily was an awesome guide, explaining the history and background of the places we visited, and answering our endless questions about everything we saw. She was patient while waiting for us, and the ride to and from the various sights was comfortable and luxurious. No one else was on the tour so it was just me and my 2 friends. It felt just like a private tour just for us.Written 2 April 2024
- juliann4840 contributionsAmazingThe tour was excellent. My tour guide Amber did an outstanding job. Everything was very well planned. I can highly recommend both the tour and the organizer.Written 10 March 2024
- yanneel0 contributionsHighly recommended tourResearched a few companies and I had decided to go with Trippest. Niko was prompt in his email replied. Hence, I booked a private tour (1 to 1) for 2 days at Zhangjiajie with an English tour guide. Lily command of english was quite good and she is able to explain to me the history and etc throughout the tour. She also helped me to take lots of beautiful photos and video! After the tour, we even become friends and have a meal together. Overall, I enjoy myself during the tour.Written 29 February 2024
- 761zyt0 contributionsNot worth the price! ☹️The experience was drastically different than promised in the description, which did not justify the price of the class. Instead of going from the very start (picking ingredients and preparing the dumpling filling), the dumpling dough and filling were prepared before we arrived. All we did was to make a few little flat circles to wrap the dumplings, fill them with the filling, and wrap them. All in all, this took maybe 20 min of the 3 hours top. Unlike the description of the class, we did not get to pick our ingredients from the local market, make the filling, nor cook the dumplings. The saving grace was that the host family and guide was welcoming and friendly. There were no clear instructions via email as after-sales care either, so we had no clear idea of where to be picked up for the class.Written 29 November 2023
- 439annen0 contributionsWonderful 2 day tour in Beijing with our tour guide David. We took the 2 days Beijing tour and it was so wonderful to see the great wall, Forbidden city, Tiananmen square, the Summer palace, the Temple of Heaven, etc.. David, our tour guide made our visit so enjoyable and we had a really great time. We learned so much history from David and he also is very skillful in getting short cut so we can get in line must faster. Overall we highly recommend this tour.Written 25 November 2023

- 641gregors0 contributionsGreat Tour except the lunchWe did the Mini Group Tour: Beijing Forbidden City Tour with Great Wall Hiking at Mutianyu with Dan as guide. It was a wunderful day with a very well organized tour, which we enjoyed very much! The trip through the forbidden city was a little bit less detailed than I expected but still very nice. You basically just follow the very touristic route straight through the core of the city and the guide will tell some instersting stories or facts about the buildings and artworks. The stay at the Great Wall was amazing, we really took a lot of time for a hike along the wall and Dan answered all questions in detail. But keep in mind that you have to pay an extra 15-20 US$ for the caple car. They offer you to walk to the wall but I am not sure if that is really an option because than you would not have a lot of time at the wall itself. The only thing which was really bad was the lunch. Dan told us there wouldn't be any good chinese restaurants in Mutianyu so we would have to eat at Burger King. After we ordered at Burer King the WORST meal of our whole trip in Asia, Dan left and came back with some amazing chinese food for herself from a little place just around the corner. We were sitting there asking ourself why she didn't tell us about this place beforehand but nobody explained to us why. For future tours: PLEASE give people the choice where to eat lunch! Besides that we had a great day! Thank you again for everything Dan!Written 6 September 2023

We did a 4 hour tour with Cactus, who was a great tour guide, with loads of information while also keeping our two children engaged and interested. Nothing was too much, and she helped us with restaurant recommendations for the evening. A big thanks to Cactus for making our first day in China a big success!

Our guide Smile (Xiao Xiao) was terrific and we learnt SO much more than if we had gone alone. It just made everything really easy, no queues, no wondering what was worthwhile doing. She also ordered us a really nice lunch (the guides seem to get better quality food than you'd get ordering on your own). Thanks for a great day Smile - you made all the difference.

My wife and I along with two other participants spent the day with our guide Smile doing an in depth tour of the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Jingshan Park. Smile, as her name would indicate had a sunny and bright personality, she was also a fount of detailed information conveyed in fluent English. All in all a great tour of these sites with Smile. The cost of this tour was more than others but worth it for the personal attention and wealth of information. Highly recommended.

This was nothing to do with the guide Mr Xiao Yuan. He is great and friendly, and shared quite a bit of history for the place (just need to give guests more photography time). However our mood was affected by the huge crowd of mainland tourists. I wouldn't want to describe further. Once in a lifetime to see the amazing palace... if only if it is more relax.

It was a very cold Beijing winter but our tour guide, Cactus made it a very memorable experience. She was very insightful and knowledgeable in regard to the complicated Chinese Dynasties. Cactus was very helpful and empathetic to our needs. She was fluent and articulated. Getting to the meeting point was a breeze via the well organised Beijing Metro without the traffic jam. We would recommend the tour as a highlight to the city of Beijing.

I had no idea how vast the Forbidden City is! Wow. It’s overwhelming in its size. Without our guide, William, we would have been wandering around. He knew exactly where to go. And shared amazing historical insight. It helped my children (11,12) really embrace it! This is not just “one more temple or pagoda” as your kids might say. This was just incredible. Thanks, William! We will definitely be recommending you and this tour to our friends.

A great way to discover the highlights of the Forbidden City and immediate vicinity. Visiting in a small group is really enjoyable (so many big crowds around). Our tour guide was super knowledgeable, well prepared and able to also answer the more unconventional questions in very good English. He also directed us to a nearby Hutong to have lunch after the tour. Strongly recommended! Thank you for an amazing visit.

We truly enjoyed the time with our guide Susie. She was very knowledgeable, but did not overwhelm us with details - it was just the right amount of information.
Susie's command of English was very good, something I'm afraid to say still isn't too common throughout China. After the tour, Susie was kind enough to share some tips on where to go for lunch, where to buy tea and what to do on our own in the afternoon. I personally don't like "one day - visit as many things as possible" tours, so this half-day tour was great as it left us the opportunity to stroll around Beihai park in the afternoon.
I would definitely recommend this tour!

We are so pleased to hear you had a great time with Susie during our half-day Forbidden City tour! Susie does well in her English-speaking skills, and is a totally local Beijinger. I believe she did recommend you some very authentic food and tea shops. BTW, Beihai park is indeed a good place to relax in the afternoon. Hope you will enjoy your trip in Beijing! See you next time in Beijing!

Our guide Susie contacted us via text the day before to confirm the tour- which we appreciated. As the original meeting point was closed, we were able to communicate to her the situation and we were able to set up an alternate site. Thanks to our guide, we were able to smoothly enter the Forbidden City which is very very crowded with visitors. She was also very informative of the life and times of the emperors who lived within the walls. Additionally, after the tour she was very helpful with advice for our plans to visit other sites: Temple of Heaven, Pearl Market (shopping and lunch). Also she helped us with transport to airport for our flight home. Overall, our experience with the tour was great and made our trip to Forbidden City very easy.

Thank you for your great feedback of Susie. Due to the manoeuvre for Natinal Day, there was traffic control around Tiananmen Square. So the original meeting point is closed. We are so happy that it doesn't affect your mood of visiting the Forbidden City, and you have a great time on that day! Wish you have a wonderful trip in China!
