Excellent Tour - A Great Way to get an Insight into life and food in Hong Kong
May 2019 • Couples
We met Mel, our guide, at Lok Fu MTR station. He then took us on a very informative walking tour where he explained the history of all of the places we visited, plus answered lots of questions. We visited the Kowloon Walled City Park; Kowloon City; where he showed us lots of traditional businesses, Mong Kok; and we finished by viewing the Symphony of Lights from the Kowloon waterfront. Along the way, we sampled some traditional Chinese and Thai foods, ate dinner at a local Chinese restaurant and even took one of the local minibuses. I would absolutely recommend this tour. Although I have visited Hong Kong several times, I have never really been given an insight into Hong Kong life by a local. Mel is a local who enthusiastically shares his knowledge and makes sure his guests have an amazing experience.

Best way to see hidden gems
Apr 2019 • Couples
Discovering hidden treasures and not so hidden ones with Ryan was a great experience for us. Having been in Hong Kong for 4 days already we thought we'd seen most places around Kowloon but Ryan kept us entertained and informed about things we'd never have found ourselves. We said we wanted to see some of the 'real' HK rather than the touristy things and he delivered. A ride on a red mini-bus was an experience in itself and we learnt about the 'no route' policy - glad we didn't do that one on our own! Learning of the Walled City Slum, visiting the now City Park, finding out that what we thought was the Ladies Market we visited the previous day was in fact the disposable market. Ryan then showed us the various markets - the actual Ladies market we'd missed - then the Goldfish marekt, a rare glimpse of reptiles, and then told us the reality of keeping pets in apartments and feng shui and goldfish. We also learnt about the reality in the size of living spaces for most who live in HK- visited the Chungking mansions and learnt of the challenges facing those who come to HK to earn money to send home to families. Then to the Peninsula Hotel to bring home the contrast. What a great 4 hours - learnt more in that time than the 4 days previous. Well worth it and with a guide who has a good heart, great understanding and really listened to what we wanted to do. Plus we had dinner as well. Definitely glad we did this tour.

Fabulous guide, friendly and informative and very well organised
Apr 2019 • Couples
Our tour with local, Mel, has altered my understandings of Hong Kong. You can read in guide and text books but there is nothing so informative as hearing from a long term local. In a relaxed but energetic way (lots of walking, some public transport- bus, subway) Mel educated us about life, culture, politics and economics as they integrate into daily life for Kowloon residents. We gained understanding of the property market, familial relationships, burial customs and costs; the old walled slum tenements and industries, the growth of the Thai district; food culture- street sweets, noodles, stir fries, various markets etc. All questions were answered thoroughly and with an obvious honesty and integrity. I'm so impressed ....we have travelled widely and this was a clear 5star winner.

Great tour! Good value for money.
Mel showed us some hidden gems we would not have found on our own. We had drinks, snacjs and even dinner. All transportation with both minibus and MTR was included. Had a very nice evening!

Fantastic
My wife and I had the pleasure of joining the walking tour with our knowledgeable guide Kate. A fantastic intro to the food, history and culture of Kowloon. As stated when booking, the tour covers a fair distance but it is completed at a very leisurely pace. Would absolutely recommend!

Experiencing the night life of Kowloon
Oct 2018 • Couples
We've been to Hong Kong many times but usually don't stay for more than 5-6 days and tend to do our own thing. But this trip we only had 4 days and decided to do a walking tour around a part of HK that we don't know well as we didn't want to waste time. The instructions from Hello HK were clear and easy to follow (thanks for the photo of the area at the train station), and Kate arrived to greet us right on time. It turned out we were the only guests which was pretty amazing. Often when you are a tourist you don't want a tour shows you the obvious - this tour showed us a part of HK that we knew very little about. Loved the egg tarts (a winner), but less enthusiastic about the stinky tofu - but we tried it!
A fantastic evening and just the right amount of time. Thanks Kate for your enthusiasim and guidance.

Spent 8 nights in Hong Kong in October 2018
Oct 2018 • Couples
My wife and I organised a holiday in HK in October 2018, with 4 organised tours and one self managed tour. Two were with Hello Hong Kong, including the HK Night Tour of Kowloon. We were the only people on the tour and had a very informative tour with Mel about Kowloon, its recent history, shopping precinct areas and some local food. Mel was very helpful, explained things, friendly and exhibited a good knowledge of Kowloon.

We were very fortunate to have a private night tour with Kate last night. My husband and I usually do our own thing when visiting a new country but due to the fact that we only had two days in Hong Kong, we decided to make the most of it by booking this tour.
We are so happy we did! Kate was very informative and had great visual guides with her. Her knowledge on the history of Hong Kong was unbelievable!!
There is no way we would’ve been able to experience and learned what we did last night on our own.
The best part was Kate! We had in instant connection.
