Brilliant intro to Hong Kong with fun and engaging guide
Ivan was our guide this morning. He was born in Kowloon and knows the city, culture and history inside out. He met us at our hotel, explained the MTR to us and off we went to Central. Ivan engaged both my husband, three kids (aged 11, 8 and 5) and me with fascinating history about HK and other cultural topics such as feng shui and religious traditions. He was friendly, personable and completely present. We visited an outdoor market where the kids loved seeing meat and fish being sliced and diced fresh. We went to an old temple where the kids got to make a prayer with incense, we tried some delicious French toast and a hybrid iced coffee tea! We learnt quite a bit about the history of HK as a colony. Three hours was perfect for little legs, however if it’s older kids or adults in your party I’d recommend booking Ivan for longer. Even after three hours the tour left us all feeling more confident to navigate HK alone. Ivan left us with restaurant tips for the kids and other itinerary recommendations. A truly worthwhile private tour that I highly recommend.

Fabulous day with Ivan our tour guide- so knowledgeable, professional & genuine. This tour was one of our top memories from a 3 week trip to China & Hong Kong. Communication from their manager Ski was also great

        Soon again, please
Booking the tour and getting to the meeting place was super easy. They even would have picked me up from my hotel but as I know Hong Kong a bit I opted for a meeting place in the New Territories. Maggie has been a wonderful tour guide with a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoyed learning so much about Hong Kong, past and present, and seeing placing which as a normal tourist you would seldom. Maggie was very flexible and always made sure that my personal interest were met.

        Great tour with Ivan
Early June we spent 8 days in Hong Kong. We arrived Friday night and I had booked a Big Foot Walking tour of Kowloon for the next day, so we could get an idea of how to get around HK from the start of our holiday. We met Ivan at our hotel at 12 noon and he spent the next 4 hours showing us a part of the world that he knows so well. He showed us how to get an Octopus card, then how to navigate the MTR rail system. That was so handy for the rest of our trip as we used it daily. Ivan was very patient and so informative about the area and history of Kowloon. We walked, caught trains and had a lovely local lunch. Wasn’t cheap, but money well spent and it made the rest of of stay so easy. Happy to recommend Ivan as not only was he very professional but he was a very nice young man and no questions were too stupid and nothing was too much trouble. Cheers.

        day tour with Ivan
My daughter and I had an 18 hour layover in Hong Kong en route to South Africa. I decided to hire a tour guide...and boy am I glad I did. Ivan gave us a great 4 hour tour of the city. It was perfect. I loved how he took us to a small, local restaurant...and guided us on what and how much to order. He catered his tour to what we wanted to do. He was very flexible. My daughter loved the outdoor escalator. I enjoyed the temple. He was great with translating Hong Kong prices into US dollars so we could better understand local real prices. He gave a very interesting tour. What could have been a very intimidating experience in a foreign city, turned out to be a very enjoyable and laid back time. I highly recommend Ivan! Thanks so much for a wonderful tour of beautiful Hong Kong!

        A Hong Kong Adventure
Had a fantastic time exploring Hong Kong Island with Ivan on a 4 hour walking tour. I learned about the history of the city while walking through the busy streets with a stop at a serene Taoist temple along the way. I definitely discovered a whole new side to Hong Kong (Ivan also showed us some fantastic dining options, make sure you ask about them!). I would highly recommend this tour!

        Ivan is #1 Guide
Our recent trip to Hong Kong was made very special by the 4 hours we spent exploring Kowloon with Ivan. I am quite sure we would never have discovered all of these fascinating parts of Kowloon without Ivan and certainly not in just 4 hours. We used public transit and saw traditional Hong Kong and modern day Hong Kong. Ivan answered all of our questions and we would definitely hire him for additional tours of this magical place.

A great way to learn about Hong Kong history and food!
My wife and I had a great time touring Hong Kong with Celia. She was energetic and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Hong Kong history, geography, local culture, local traditions and of course food. Celia took us to all the local spots and helped us order the best things on the menu. We even had snake soup! The tour was a lot of fun and Celia adjust it to fit your preferences. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting HK!

        April in Hong Kong
Celia was a great tour guide. Especially helpful was that she took us to buy subway tickets and taught us the ins and outs of the subway in Hong Kong. April is a great month to go before the humidity!

        Would do it again
Just this one tour got us up to speed with knowing Hong Kong. Our guide was fantastic, listened to what we liked and tailored the walk. She was spot on with what she showed us, and her knowledge was fantastic. She also introduced us to a whole lot of things to explore on our own in ensuing days. The additional help in showing us local places close to us was great as well.

Ivan was a wonderful guide and made our Hong Kong visit very memorable
Ivan took us in a 4 hour walking tour which included the new and the old parts of Hong Kong. He was very knowledgeable but without overloading us with too much information. Also, he was essential in in introducing us to travelling on the MTR which proved a godsend for our other couple of days. He gave us good ideas of places to go that we hasn’t covered on our tour. If you only have a few days in Hong Kong do book this tour it will make the rest of your visit so much better. Many thanks, Ivan for such an informative and interesting day.

        Loved Hong Kong!
We had a 7 hour layover in Hong Kong and thought we'd use that time to explore the city! Our guide, Maggie, was so friendly and knowledgeable, we truly enjoyed our time with her! She took us all over the city on foot, from Michellin stared Dim Sum in the train station, to the beautiful waterfront, to the midlevels, to different vibrant street markets, and gorgeous temples...we really got a great feel for the city in just 4 hours. The day was a highlight of our whole trip and so glad we had the opportunity to do it!

We spent part of our honeymoon in Hong Kong and decided to use Bigfoot Tours as our tour company. We contacted Ski early in the year for our November trip so she asked if she could follow up in a few months to confirm the date. Before we could reach out to her again she contacted us in August as promised and we booked the tour. We asked they could incorporate a bit of a food tour in our half day tour and she confirmed they could accommodate.

This tour and tour guide were absolutely fantastic! Our tour guide Ivan was the best! He arrived on time at our hotel and we could tell he loved his job. Ivan taught us so much about the areas we explored and he was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. The tour took us through many different and diverse areas of Hong Kong. Ivan showed us several neighborhoods and cultural areas and taught us the history of each location. This tour also included food stops! We tried the local cuisine and had a blast. My favorite part of the tour was when we walked through the open markets and were able to see hundreds of vendors selling everything from souvenirs to fresh seafood. This enabled us to get a feel for authentic Hong Kong life and it was truly unforgettable. When you go to Hong Kong, you have to get Ivan to show you around. We never would have seen that much of this beautiful place without Bigfoot Tours and Ivan!

My wife and I recently joined Maggie for a half-day tour of Central and Sheung-Wan and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. At once informative and easygoing, it felt like we were being guided around the city by a particularly well-informed friend. A guide is of real use in Hong Kong, where it can be difficult for a newcomer to make sense of the chaos; in our case, this tour served as the perfect introduction. Highly recommended.

Thank you, Conor N, for your warm hands of friendship! As avid travelers ourselves, we know how overwhelming it can be to plan and visit a foreign country - especially one with vastly different cultures. As such, we treasure the chance to be your local friend in Hong Kong. We love to provide a behind-the-scenes look, for example, by highlighting how it feels for a local to live in such a dynamic city. We also can't wait to share with you our insider tips, from hole-in-wall eateries which are well-loved by locals, to our tips and tricks on maximizing your time in Hong Kong. We can't say enough, but we are tremendously grateful for your trust and support in us. We hope you had enjoyed Hong Kong as much as we do!

From the very first email to the end of the tour, everything about our Big Foot Tour was outstanding. The communication from Ski while working out what we wanted to see and when to do it was informative, and Ski answered every question we asked. Once the tour was confirmed our confirmation email contained not only extra details as to how to get to the meeting point from our hotel, but also how long it should take, and photos of where to meet and of Maggie our tour guide.
On the day of the tour Maggie was waiting for us before the agreed arrival time and I cannot believe how much we covered in the 4 hours. We never felt rushed, nor was the tour at all tiring. Maggie had so much information to pass onto us and judged what interested us more and spent more time at those attractions. We loved the traditional food stops and appreciated that Maggie could answer all our questions and give us insight into her life in Hong Kong. Maggie's English is perfect and we would never have experienced anything close to such an authentic inside into Chinese Hong Kong life if we hadn't done the tour. We highly recommend the tour.

Our guide, Maggie, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable! She gave so much insight into the history and culture of HK. We are so happy we chose this tour during our limited time in HK. We saw a great deal and got a good feeling for this area of HK Island. Maggie also helped us find a great place for lunch and helped us order before she said goodbye when the tour was over. What a great time! Thank you!

My husband and I visited Hong Kong in early November and took two tours through Big Foot tours (Real Hong Kong and New Territories) both with Ivan. Ivan was an incredible guide and after a few hours it felt like we we're being shown Hong Kong by a friend we had known for years. Because of the insight and knowledge Ivan shared with us, we experienced a Hong Kong very different from what we would have discovered on our own. I would not hesitate to book this tour if you want to interact with Hong Kong the way locals do. My only issue is with Ski, the founder of Big Foot Tours. After our return, I was e-mailed not once, but twice requesting that I post a review and insinuating that Ivan would be negatively affected if I did not. Even though I rarely post reviews, I am squeezing this into my hectic schedule because Ivan is such an INCREDIBLE guide, I would hate for him not to get any credit that is due to him. Despite this little administrative annoyance, as I said, I would not hesitate to book a tour with Ivan because he's worth it!!

Thank you for your wonderful review in terms of your support for Ivan and the excellent tours that we provide. Every review matters and such word-of-mouth does help Ivan to reach out to more travelers, with many interested guests asking for Ivan to be their tour guide thereafter. Without a doubt, such testaments also serve as an rewarding motivation for him - to be recognized that he is doing an outstanding job and more importantly, to continue to further improve his craft as well as ensure that he is always bringing top quality tours to all guests. This is the reason why after the tour, we would send an email to request for a review. However, we understand that our guests are often on hectic schedules and that is why we will send another follow-up email a few weeks later. In fact, many guests have given feedback that such email serves as a helpful reminder once they have settled down after their holidays. We recognize that there are individual preferences as to the number of emails that may be deemed one too many and as such, we do not send out further review requests thereafter unless specifically asked to. All these said, we apologize that the 2 emails since your tour in early November had caused inconvenience on your end. This wasn't our intention and we are very sorry for that. Once again, we appreciate your support and are grateful for this review amidst your busy times!

We were in Hong Kong for 3 nights and wanted to have a guided tour. We picked Big Foot tours as a result of the good reviews in TripAdviser. We chose the half day walking tour to see the real Hong Kong and our guide was Celia. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because you really do a lot of walking and see a lot of the 'real' Hong Kong. Celia was great, her English was really good, her knowledge excellent and she had a great sense of humour. In addition to the tour, Celia gave us some advice on what bus to get to Victoria peak, as we didn't want to queue for the tram, she also introduced us to one of the older coffee shops, the most wonderful custard tarts from one of the oldest bakeries and a fascinating insight into Feng Shui and the influence this has on the companies with very tall office space in the City. Celia managed to take us up to the 57th floor of the IFC for amazing views over the island and finally travelled on the longest escalator. Celia was also very happy to answer any questions we had. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Thank you, Norma J, for taking the time and effort to write a review (with photos attached) for us. Yes, we agree that this is a great tip - comfortable shoes are a must on our tours! For our Real Hong Kong Tour, we cover an average of 4 kilometers (approximately 2.5 miles) with multiple rest-stops along the way whenever requested. That said, Hong Kong can get nastily hilly in certain areas. As such, for the most pleasant touring experience, we recommend going easy on your feet with a good pair of walking shoes. :) It's been a great pleasure welcoming you and Peter to Hong Kong. Do let us know when you visit our city again - Celia would love to bring you to another great local eatery for absolutely delicious custard tarts!

Maggie met us very efficiently and promptly in our hotel lobby. She is so friendly and helpful. Telling us how to buy tickets for the trains etc. We were immediately involved with a very Chinese wedding in our hotel, and the bride and groom asked us to be in their photos. Hilarious. Anyway, Maggie took us into the centre of Hong Kong and was chatting all the time about the way of life there, the superstitions etc. She took us to a cafe to experience local tea mixed with coffee and Hong Kong toast! We also visited temples, and shops selling exotic and strange items which are supposed to promote health. We loved Maggie and felt that having our own private guide helped us make the most of our one day in Hong Kong. Highly recommend.

Thank you, Kentbossylady. What are the odds of having your tour on an extremely auspicious day in Hong Kong? :) There were many couples getting married that day and Maggie enjoyed sharing with you our wedding culture. Hong Kong is a fascinating country with lots to offer to travelers - our interesting history and current politics with Britain and China, colourful traditions and countless eateries that have won the hearts of locals. We can't say this enough, but thank you for trusting us with your limited time in Hong Kong. We hope both of you are now well-rested and look forward to the day where we can hear about your travel adventures in person again!

This was the best tour that my group participated in during our time in Hong Kong.
Ivan, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating.
All of the organising and booking process was also a breeze.

      Thanks for a great day!

Thank you, Kynloch1985. The day flew by too quickly (and crazily) for Ivan! He loves how all of you were so spontaneous and adventurous - from trying Congee with preserved egg and pig's blood curd to a quick race to the top of the longest series of outdoor escalator in the world! We always love it when guests have lots of fun on our tour and thank you for sending us the tour photos separately too - it captures these memories beautifully!

Maggie was a very thoughtful, kind and knowledgeable guide! I thoroughly enjoyed my tour. We were able to walk a lot of the main area in downtown and see the top sites and also pass some less well known ones which I enjoyed
