Llasa/Everest base camp tour - Best Tour Guide ever - Kalsang
Oct 2019
Violet, who helped us at this travel service was amazing. She is very detail oriented and timely in her responses. Initially, we were hesitant to trust someone we never met over email to set things up for us, but we did, and she took care of details immaculately. Additionally, she was someone we were able to count on through the trip. Our bus broke down on the way to basecamp and she answered immediately and took care of details to get us a new bus.

Kalsang is probably one of the best tour guides i've ever had, and i've travelled the world. Not only was he very knowledgeable about the sites we were seeing, he was flexible and authentically wanted to make this a great trip for us as a group. He was able to make sure that our small group was accommodated at the sites we stopped at to eat as we are vegan/plant based. He was with us the whole week, and he never dropped the ball, nor did he check out. He went over and above and made this a great experience for our group.

Highlights were Lake Yamdrok and Basecamp. Once in a lifetime experience for sure.
Be prepared for 3 days of heavy bus travel! I would recommend upgrading the bus to a more comfortable bus if you can for that reason.

Bring toilet paper, extra hand wipes as there are no sinks to wash hands, snacks for the bus ride. Also be prepared to use a lot of Asian style squat bathrooms as you get to more rural stops along the way to basecamp. Practice your squats - you will be a squatting champ by the end of the trip.

8 Days Lhasa & Everest Base Camp Tour
May 2019 • Friends
My friend and I booked our tour through Violet at GTT who we found to be very helpful and knowledgable. Nothing was too much trouble for her and on our birthdays she even arranged for a birthday cake to be delivered to our hotel room in Lhasa! We felt completely taken care of from the minute we booked the tour to the minute we boarded the plane back to Kathmandu.

The tour guide (Tampur) and the driver stayed with us for the duration of the trip, they were also fantastic and were very knowledgable - they answered all of our questions and there were a lot!

We jam-packed so much into our 8 days. We saw some incredible sights, met some amazing people and experienced things most people never will.

There were so many highlights, too many to mention, but the two that stick in my mind the most are without doubt were Everest Base Camp and Potala Palace.

There were some challenges along the way in the form of long bus journeys and altitude sickness, but you're aware of these before you embark on the trip and can prepare for them.

I found the trip life changing and I wouldn't hesitate to do the trip all over again.

Thanks very much to Violet and her team at GTT.

8 Days Lhasa & Everest Base Camp Tour
Jun 2019 • Family
Hi! I just finished a trip with my family (mother, father, brother and husband) to Tibet. I want to write this review to thank the agency GTT and especially Violet for arranging this tour for us and helping us with all our questions. If we wanted to see some extra sigths, change something to our schedule, Violet always listened to our many requests. Everything was handled extremely professional: from booking the tour to receiving the permit and receiving help with booking flights,...

Lastly, I would also like to thank our guide Tenzin Nyima and our driver, who we called 'tjedu tjiri'. During our 9 days together they always greeted us with smiling faces. They treated us with kindness and patience. They showed us the magnificent landscapes, mountains, lakes, animals, temples, ... of Tibet. Tenzin's knowledge about the sights, about Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan culture and life is unmeasured. He is able to answer any question (and we asked many) and is still interessed in learning more everyday.

Thank you for greeting us so warmly, we wish you and your family only happiness.

Best wishes

Great decision when visiting Tibet
Apr 2019 • Solo
When I was planning my Tibet trip, I was lost among the offers of the many tour organizers. All of them say they are experienced, they are professional. As travellers are currently not allowed to enter into Tibet individually, you have to trust and choose one of them, let them organize your trip.

I was in discussion with 4 or 5 tour organizers, and finally I made decision to go with GTT (GoToTibet), and I did not regret it. Starting in the preparation phase of my trip, I got detailed and helpful answers for all of my questions from Violet. I got my Tibet permit on time, without any hassle. Furthermore, their quotation was competitive.
I arrived to Lhasa by air, and one of their guide picked me up from the airport and sent to Yak hotel. I reached there in the afternoon, and we started our trip on the next day.

Our guide was Tenzin, a local Tibetan guy, doing this job for more than 15 years. He was very professional, having great knowledge on the sights we visited. He was also a funny guy, we enjoyed his stories while travelling in the bus. Btw, we had a small group with around 11 people. I was a single traveller when I joined the tour.

I participated on a 7 days tour, visiting Lhasa, Yamdrok lake, EBC, and leaving Tibet from Shigatse airport on 7th day. You can find detailed program on their website. I was missing the chance to trek a part of the trip to EBC, but then I realized, the road heading to EBC is paved road for cars, and we basically wouldn’t have had an enjoyable trekking trip. If you like trekking to EBC, then I think it’s better from Nepal side (and takes 12 days).

We were taken to great restaurants, we enjoyed the food there. We had a Chinese driver, he was also good one, we felt safe during our trip. I recommend GTT.
Tip: I had heavy headaches during nights, starting from first night. I drank plenty of water, it did not help. Not all of us had symptoms. Different bodies have different reactions. It might have been better if I arrived by train, so getting used to high altitude more slowly. Take a good amount strong pain killer for headache. Tibet is a nice place, go ahead and visit it.
