Overview
Though undeniably beautiful, the Embalse El Yeso reservoir in Cajon del Maipo is notoriously difficult to access. Visit as part of a guided tour from Santiago to let an experienced driver handle the pot-holed road while you admire spectacular views of the Andes Mountains. This small-group tour is limited to just 13 people or fewer—the perfect size for enjoying your picnic lunch and a bottle of wine upon arrival.
What to Expect
Begin your tour to Cajon del Maipo with pickup from your central Santiago hotel or alternative pickup point. Then, look out at the scenery as your driver safely makes the 2-hour drive out of the city to Cajon del Maipo at the base of the Andes.
Pass small towns and through Tinoco Tunnel to catch views of the Andes Mountains. Then, stop at the stunningly blue Embalse El Yeso reservoir for a picnic lunch accompanied by wine. Spend free time chatting with your small group of 13 or fewer and taking photos of the view.
Return to Santiago at the end of your tour.

I must start by clarifying this review relates to MTO Tour as a business, not the actual day tour which was ok. My wife and I were to "enjoy" Cajon Del Maipo as a day tour and everything was set to go until only a...More

We had a good visit in Santiago which culminated in the cajón de Maipo trip. It’s an excellent chance to touch the Andes and see some beautiful scenery. The guide was good in Spanish and English.

Late pick up. Irresponsible driver. Driving dangerously. Full van, not able to sit with my partner. Very small legroom. Guide was sincere and informative. Tour details as described. Nothing much, can cut short to half day if you have option.

I do not know, however the vender can be contacted about this. I think a four year old would need a seat. All days were available unless the trip was full.

Depends entirely o the number of participants AND the added cost to take you to the airport. Also, the tour does not get back to Santiago until late in the afternoon, about 5 PM. Add in Santiago traffic is heavy at rush... More
