Juan made us in love with Ecuador.
It was our first time to Ecuador and we were very lucky on our first tour to meet Juan as our guide. He told us so many things about the country and places that we are inspired to learn more and come back to Ecuador again.

          Wonderful trip to Papallacta
Our guide Louis was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the area. We went Guango lodge and took a nature hike to see hummingbirds and other birds. We throughly enjoyed the day!

          Awesome Andes Adventures
We booked a 4 day/3 night tour of the Andes highlands and Amazon Basin with Ecuador Best Tours and it was simply awesome. The river rafting in Mindo and hiking in Cotopaxi were personal highlights. The accommodations were fantastic and our guide (Carlos) and driver (Vladdy) were top notch. I highly recommend this tour for its value and opportunity for adventure

          Great tour
My tour guide, Michael was great! He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I was the only person on the tour, so it was very customizable.

Antisana and the condors are amazing.
My second day with the fabulous Myriam, who is a wonderful guide, has amazing English and really knows her stuff. Today the target was condors. Given there are only 130 left in Ecuador, I knew there was a chance i wouldn’t see one, but we saw 10!!! Also several other amazing birds. Another excellent day and Myriam was also aware of the altitude and that I had some issues in Quito, so she kept a close eye on me, asking about symptoms. I felt very safe in her hands. Well worth a visit to this amazingly beautiful place.

          A great day in Quito!
We booked the Cable Car and Quito Private City Tour (Ecuador Best Tours). This was such a great day to get us familiar with Quito. Our guide, Ximena was terrific! She was so much fun to be with and tailored our tour to meet our interests! We went up the hill to visit the statue of Mary and overlook the city. We explored the market in the old town. Lucky to be there on Sunday when the market was active. The churches were also having services that day and we were able to go into the back to observe and hear the music. We had a fabulous lunch, went to a chocolate tasting that we loved and walked around town with Ximena’s guidance and stories. We finally took the cable car up the mountain for a fantastic view and hiked up to the swings for unique photos. Ximena was caring and patient as we stopped for many breaks to catch our breath in this high altitude. I recommend this tour, where you can choose to do what interests you with the help of an experienced guide!

          Amazon Forest and Western Tributaries
Bucket list to see the Amazon forest and westernmost tributaries of the Amazon River. Ecuador has such beautiful landscapes, water falls, volcanos, hot baths and there were lots of stops to see scenery. Baños was very charming. It was hopping and a great place for lunch and cervezas. It’s a three hour trip with great views and lots of places to stop. Freddy was a wonderful host.

I would give Luis 10 stars if I could. He was amiable, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The food was delicious and the sights were unforgettable. The tour was the perfect balance of activity and eating. Plus, we learned a lot about Quito.

          Awesome time in Baños :)
Had an excellent time on July 4th. Ximena was a great guide and made sure I was having fun and provided me excellent cultural history of Ecuador and the Baños area. From this tour, you leave Quito to Baños and come back same day. In Baños, the tour is personalized to your liking. I did zip line, bungee jumped 50 meters, and saw some spectacular waterfalls in the start of the Amazon. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Amazing hiking up Cotopaxi to 16000 feet
Pros: we absolutely loved this tour. Diana, our guide was amazing, welcoming, friendly, answered questions, and was accommodating with stops for the bathrooms, coffee, and just to take photos. And of course hiking Cotopaxi was incredible. Plus the lunch was to die for. (And good vegetarian options!) Cons: the agenda listed horseback riding, hiking, and lunch. About 2hrs in we asked when we would be horseback riding and were told actually this tour had none! Not sure if we were put on the wrong tour or if this was just a change of plans, and we were more excited about hiking anyhow, BUT! If you desperately want to horseback ride, triple check. 🤣

          Cable car tour in Quito
We enjoyed the cable cars. Our guide was very nice. The cable car was well timed as we went early and had good weather and beat the crowds. We enjoyed the views. We then went to old town and new town.

          A wonderful accomplishment and tour.
This was an amazing trip and our guide, Diana and driver, Wilmer were excellent. This is our second tour with Ecuador Best Tours and their communication, service, attention to detail and focus on safety is outstanding. We hiked from the parking lot at Cotopaxi to the refuge. While it is only a 1km hike, you are doing it from roughtly 14,000 to 15,000 feet. It took us over 1 hour. It was very exhausting but our guide helped us through….urging us to take small steps and many rest stops. It was totally worth it and an excellent accomplishment. Coming down is easy. Hiking poles are highly recommended. The lunch at the Hacienda was an excellent reward as well.

My family, including a 13 and 15 year old, did this tour July 15, 2022. William was out guide and he was fabulous! We were picked up at our hotel around 7am in a private passenger van which had plenty of space for the five of us.

The travel time to Mindo was approximately 3 hours. One the windy way (be weary if you get car sick as you may need to take something) we stopped at a hummingbird sanctuary. The cost to to see these were an additional $5USD per person. They were pretty and there were plenty of them to see, along with some other tropical birds. We did a little hike around the grounds here as well. The coffee company was closed when we were there. (30min)

We carried on to Mindo proper. The next stop was up past the town (a torturous road) to hike up to some waterfalls. Access to the was via a cable car ($5USD extra per person also). The views from the cable car were stunning. Our hike took about an hour round trip with only a few stops for photos. As a seasoned hiker I would say this hike was easy to moderate (mostly due to altitude). We did it in running shoes.

Next was a lovely lunch where we shared a giant delicious pizza. If you have the change to enjoy the pinneapple juice, I recommend it! (60 min)

We then had a short walk to the butterfly farm ($5USD per person extra) which was cool. (30 min)

The Yumbos Chocolate factory was our last stop ($7USD per person). I think this was my personal favorite as we learned about cacao in Ecuador and the chocolate making process. The tour finished with a delicious tasting of their award winning chocolate flavour. We were here for at least an hour.

William was great, sharing some of his knowledge and answering our questions throughout the day.

Dear guests, Thank you very very much for such wonderful and detailed review! We are glad to know you liked you day with our transportation and guide, and yes, it is correct, Mindo offers so many activities and attractions that is always hard to know exactly what our clients would like to see or do, and that is why we prefer to let our travelers decide what they want to see or do, and it is better they pay directly at every place their own entrance fees... It was a pleasure, and we all wish you the best in your life. Your Ecuadorian friends, Ecuador Best Tours,

I hadn't realized how many different types of humming bird there were until I was there and had them all just come out and show themselves. The guide, Andres, was also very much dedicated to whatever type of experience you want to have and will tailer the trip to your desires. We decided to go with a more "see what we can see" trip rather than something more high adventure and wow did he deliver. The variety of species and amount did not disappoint.

My friend and I took a 2 week escorted tour of Ecuador, and booked an extra day on our own. Upon researching day trips from Quito, we decided to take the Mindo Cloud Forest tour. Having booked online late the night before, we were a bit dubious about being picked up on time, let alone at all. But at 8AM sharp, our guide Ivan arrived at our hotel. Within minutes, we knew that we were in good hands. Someone had told us that we should stop enroute to Mindo at Pululauha Volcano. So we asked Ivan if this was possible, and without blinking, he agreed. It was well worth the detour. Ivan was a fantastic guide, providing the kind of information and detail of what we were seeing that you could never get from reading the usual travel resources. Once at Mindo, Ivan always offered us options of which hiking trails to take based on level of ease or difficulty, tempering our decision by what spectacular views awaited us at the end of each trail. We were never steered wrong. The consummate gentleman, Ivan always offered a helping hand when we were climbing over a challenging trail transition. We simply could not have asked for a better guide. Ivan deservedly sits way up at the top.
As for the excursion itself, the trails to the waterfalls were lush with tropical foliage and flowers, the waterfalls a page out of a travel brochure. The butterfly sanctuary is a visual treat, and we were shown how to coax them to perch on, and feed from your finger. I even had a Blue Morpho hitchhiking on my knee.
The magnificent birds we saw ran the gamut of every color (Tanagers, Fly Catchers, Toucanets). But the capper was our interaction with Hummingbirds. With Ivan's help, they were literally eating out of our hands. The sensation of those wee wings fluttering against your skin, and their tiny feet grasping onto your finger will remain a fond memory of our day trip to Mindo. In a word-GO!

This trip is twice as expensive as the going rate around Quito for private trips to Mindo. The going rate in town is about $70 per person for a private car to Mindo. When I booked this trip, I expected a company car, company employee, and a customized planned tour.
Instead we received a freelance tour guide, who drove his own car, had no company clothing, no identification, no badges, no guide certificates, nothing.
He was on time, but did not interact with us much, and did not discuss much with us. once we started driving, he had to call other tourists that he was booked with in the future, to arrange their plans. He had no water or food packed for himself, so when we were running late and asked to skip lunch, he had to make 3 different stops along the highway so that he could buy himself something to eat and some food to take home.
In the end, we saw everything we wanted to see, BUT paid WAY too much to Ecuador Best Tours. Lunch and entry fees are not even included for the tour price.
For us, Ecuador Best Tours were just a reseller who arranged a free lance tour guides, for way inflated prices, and the sad thing is that the tour guides do not get paid more, based on the tour price.
Skip Ecuador Best Tours and book with who your hotel recommends.

Dear guests, We would love to thank this review, but unfortunately it doesn't judge clearly what you booked for... However it is good to know you saw everything you expected. We sent you one our top tour guides who is WILSON (you can read tons of excellent reviews on this same site, about him doing exactly this same day tour). He has all the knowledge and certificates that a day tour to Mindo requires (High-Andes Naturalist tour guide, Mountainieering, Mountain Rescue, Military instructor, White water River Rafting and Kayaking instructor, Tropical Rainforest Naturalist, etc....) as all of our staff that work with us. About not having a packed-lunch for himself in the car, is because Mindo Cloud Forest is a Tropical area and we never recommend to store food in the car all day long, becuase it is not higienic. So after you refuse his offerings to stop for lunch, we understand somebody that is working all day long feels hungry, and it is important to wrap something to recover energy and keep driving a Toyota Fortuner, which is consider as a Luxury car for the reality of Ecuador (as well very comfortable and safe). About him not wearing a uniform, is because he was working every single day on that week, and it seems he had to do laundry on that weekend, we apologize for that. And you are right, if you hire a hostel spanish-speaking taxi driver it would cost less, but it doesn't guarantee experience... Kind regards, Proudly Ecuador Best Tours,

We (my 15year old son and I) had a great day exploring mindo cloud forest in August 2023. We went for a hike in the mountains and saw beautiful waterfalls. Then we visited hummingbird farm and butterflies farm. we also asked our tour guide to take us zip lining. Lunch was delicious (not included) It was a fun day. On the way to Quito we asked our tour guide to stop by Mitad del mundo museum. He made it to the museum just before closing time (5pm), so we had a chance to visit museum and get a certificate for balancing an egg at the equator. Our guide was awesome!

We spent 2 days with Carlos and his driver, Marion, exploring areas outside Quito. The first day was more cultural in which we went to Otovalo, an interesting town with a market place where the locals sell primarily textiles, clothing, jewelry, etc. We then visited a small shop where we met a lady who uses traditional weaving techniques inluding spinning her own yarn. There were other places that we visited as well on this first day. The second day was in the Mindo Cloud Forest where we saw a flock of wild tucans overhead. We also spent time feeding the hummingbirds with their incredible colors. Next, we visited a small coffee producer who showed us all the steps used in gathering coffee beans and the traditional processes of going from raw beans to a great cup of coffee. As part of our tour we stopped at a small market vendor and learned about various fruits and veggies that are typically not seen here in that States. Of course, part of the tour also included a visit to the equatorial line where I got to phograph my phone that read north 0'0'0". Very cool. Overall, it was a terrific 2-day tour and would recommend using Jaime & Angela (letsgotoecuador@hotmail.com).

Had an amazing day touring Mindo with our guide Oscar! We first drove to a hummingbird sanctuary with a hundred hummingbirds zooming around and even drinking nectar out of our hands. Truly amazing! From there we went into mindo cloud forest to do a canopy tram and short hike through the jungle. Ate a nice lunch in the town of mindo and then toured a local orchid preserve with a ton of cool flowers. Overall the day was incredible and our guide Oscar was top notch. Had a ton of knowledge to share about the country/ nature/ and history of Ecuador. For a private tour I thought the price was very reasonable. Just a heads up there was about 4-5 hrs of driving but Would highly recommend for nature lovers.

We had a fabulous private tour with Freddy. He was a great driver in a luxurious car that was eager to give suggestions knowing we had other tours booked . He suggested the Hummingbird & butterfly experience which was magnificent . The cable car to the Forest was a thrill with spectacular views . The chocolate tour was fun and our lunch with River Trout was perfect . A great day outside Quito was really worthwhile with Freddy .
        HeyThx from Brenda & José

We visited Quito the beginning of February and we’re unsure of how things were going to play out so did not book anything in advance. As soon as we got there, we felt comfortable and booked the Mindo day trip the day before traveling. Booking was easy and communication was great. They picked us up from a hotel a block from our Airbnb and were very punctual. Our guide Leo was fantastic. He gave us so much information as we drove along. Given that it was Carnival, traffic was pretty bad, but he did not rush us and allowed us the full time at all attractions. The hummingbirds were amazing!! The hike to the waterfalls was gorgeous. We are used to hiking and in good shape, however, this would not be recommended for folks who are not acclimated to the altitude nor in hiking shape. The chocolate tour was quite neat as well. We learned a lot and got to sample some amazing chocolate. Overall a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend!!
