About
Immerse yourself in a thick vegetation of plants, trees and wild flowers of the Cloud Forest which is located on the edge of the Andes Western Mountain Range. Mindo is 60 miles away from the Quito city. This forest is the transition zone between the highlands and the lower zones. Enjoy the subtropical climate of this region that is close to the coast. This region is within the 10 most important eco regions on earth. The altitude ranges from 6562 feet and 3281 feet above sea level. This natural region is the perfect place to watch birds such as the White naked Jacobin, Golden olive Woodpecker, Euphonia, Golden Tanager among others. Have fun in the ziplining station crossing from one mountain to another one in the middle of the evergreen forest. Walk through narrow paths covered with giant ferns, trees sheltered by mosses and feel the warmth of the humid wind that comes from the Pacific Ocean. Visit the waterfalls and do swimming in the nice and crystalline water.

Excellent Journey to Mindo Forest
Eduardo was a most professional and knowledgeable tour guide. We enjoyed our day with him to Mindo Forest. He picked up us punctually at 7:30am and then proceeded to drive and share history and information about Ecuador, Quito and the Mindo Forest. He shaped the trip in respects to our interests and wishes. The first stop to see the Hummingbirds was the least interesting, though a beautiful spot. (It would have been better if the place had a bit more information about the centre, their purpose… I would skip this in the future as one sees Hummingbirds elsewhere.). The Cloud Coffee visit, which is the same location was awesome. We met the owner and he walked us through the process of growing the coffee beans to making a cup of coffee. We all enjoyed this information and learned more about how precious each bean is.
From there we went on to the highlight of the tour which was a hike through the rain forest. We took the ‘shuttle’ across the ravine and enjoyed walking up and down to the waterfalls. Eduardo pointed out some of the fauna and we saw a snake, newt and several different insects. He was very patient while we swam in the waterfall.
Afterwards we had all worked up an appetite and he took us to an amazing Mindo restaurant which had great options for vegetarians in the native Ecuadoran cuisine. Super delicious and affordable.
Then our 10 year old daughter expressed interest in tubing the river and again Eduardo took us to a reputable shop that provided us the gear (safety considerations high I.e. life jacket and helmet) along with a river guide. Eduardo stayed back and followed our journey by capturing a great video of us on the river from a bridge. Knowing we would be a bit tired he suggested before heading back that we pop in to buy some chocolate to the shop next door. This was a great last stop as we were given a full tasting on all the different types and blends. It is interesting to have learned that cacao is not grown in Mindo; it is grown on the coast, yet there are lots of tours in Mindo.
Overall we had a great and memorable day with Eduardo.

El Mejor! The best!
Aug 2021 • Friends
Eduardo was the absolute best Mindo Cloud Forest guide we could have imagined. What an underrated gem of a destination, too! The lush greenery, nature, coffee, hummingbirds, butterflies, ziplining, and hike full of waterfalls were unimaginably beautiful. Eduardo knew all the locals and had everything carefully planned, knowing everything about anything we had a question about along the way. What makes Eduardo's to the best is its customizability, whereas many others I had researched had completely set itineraries. We would hands down recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mindo.

Fun day!
We had a great trip to the Cloud Forest. We did the zip lining, visited the hummingbird reserve, hiked to the waterfalls, and did the chocolate tour. We enjoyed all of them and would recommend. Eduardo was very knowledgeable and a good tour guide.

Wonderful tour
What a wonderful day this was! Eduardo was a kind and knowledgeable guide. We stopped at the hummingbird and butterfly gardens, and took a hike to unbelievable waterfalls. We also stopped for a local lunch that was delicious and inexpensive. The chocolate tour was a great way to see how it’s made and sample the different chocolate made there. I couldn’t have had a better experience.

Bring Cash for Many Activities
Eduardo was an excellent guide for the day. He and the driver picked up up on time, and we headed out across the Andes to the Mindo Forest. Eduardo speaks good English and is very knowledgeable about Equador’s history, geography, and plants. We had a small group of our 5 plus one other guest who joined our group. He asked which of the activities we wanted to do and customized the day to fit. You do need to take plenty of cash to pay for all the entry fees for the activities. We stopped at the hummingbird sanctuary ($5). Feeders are all around to attract the hummingbirds with lot of natural flowers and vegetation as well. Next we headed to zip lining for those who wanted to do that activity which lasts about an hour over the mountainous terrain ($20). We then went to a place where we rode a sky cable across the green valley to take a hike to a waterfall. ($5). Be aware that it is a strenuous hike (steep down and up) at a high elevation. If you are not in good physical health, you might want to skip the hike. The waterfall was okay but not worth the effort of the hike to us. You can get in the water there if you choose. Next we hoped to go to the butterfly farm in a greenhouse but they were closing for an event so we weren’t able to do that ($8). Eduardo took us to a restaurant for lunch with traditional Ecuadorian cuisine that was tasty and very affordable ($7). They serve large portions so we could have split the meals and still been full. We finished off our day with a chocolate making demonstration and tasting ($8). This was an excellent way to end the day before heading back to Quito. Although you are paying for activities throughout the day on top of the tour cost, there is no way we could have gone to all those places on our own. We also enjoyed the drive in the Andes and learning more about the region.

Nice Trip
This is a good tour. Hummingbirds were the best part!! So many different varieties. Butterfly was closed. Kids had fun at the zip line. The hike to the waterfall is long and steep. Very difficult on the walk back up to the top to get the tram down. Don’t recommend it. Water is nice but not spectacular. Chocolate tasting was excellent! Experienced chocolate making in progress. Edwardo was a great guide and gave us so much information

A MUST IN ECUADOR!!! YOU WON’T REGRET IT.
Jul 2021
THIS WAS BY FAR MY FAVORITE TRIP IN ECUADOR IN TERMS OF ADVENTURE, CULTURE, AND RELAXATION! EDUARDO IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY MY FRIENDS AND I AS THE BEAUTY OF MINDO.

Clothing recommendations: Long Sleeve rash guard/swim shirt. For adventures and then a nice dip in the waterfalls), bikini bottom/trunks underneath some leggings, cargo shorts, or yoga capris. ATHLETIC WEAR! I recommend some water shoes so you don’t pack too much but I wore sneakers for the day and then brought sandals for the waterfall bit and an extra pair of socks to hike back up from the waterfall. Bring a spare of a shirt, bottoms, undergarments for women, socks, and sunscreen! I recommend one small towel to dry up but again I didn’t.

FIRST OFF, lets start with how beautifully tailored Eduardo makes this trip for you. He picks you off at your airbnb or hotel at 7:30am in the morning. Once we start our drive he asks us if we need to make any stops for cash (AS YOU’LL NEED IT!!!) or drinks. Which was very sweet, the drive was about 2 hours with well worth stops. He asks us if we want to do everything he offers which we do!! All besides Tubing given we were too excited for the chocolate tour and Ziplining!

Second: Our first stop was a humming bird sanctuary hosted by such a young and humble man who lets you sit and admire the numerous species of hummingbirds. Sit down here, and just take it all in. It was gorgeous. We felt so at peace and it was a beautiful start.

Third: We made a stop in a local town Nagalito in MINDO ( I might be butchering the name, my apologies) and bought some true local food called Fritada. It. Was. Amazing. The side cart food was next to a store where you could stack up on local snacks and drinks for the rest of the trip ( try the mozzarella and caramel treat they eat locally!) We bought a plate to go and tried some on the way to our next stop and boy were we salivating.

Fourth stop: THIS was BY FAR my favorite stop. The MINDO Canopy adventures. ZIPLINING. This is why I recommend the rash guard clothing shirt and athletic wear. We spent $20 on the full Ziplining tour of 11 ziplines, with this tour you will hike for about 5 minutes on steep mountains and our lovely canopy guys warned us about it and were more than happy to go at our pace. I was thrilled during this experience and even managed to do some tricks mid air :D after our tour we did some Tarzan swing jumps and ate our Fritada here in their canopy food area. PERFECT DAY.

Fifth Stop: We spent most of our time in the canopy place by this point and opted out of the tubing as we wanted to chill at the waterfall too. Okay…here is where all my tips come to play. You will pay $8 for the cable carts at this point and ride it to the peak of the Waterfall. And then…You WILL BE HIKING TO THE WATERFALL. We were already sore from our Quilatoa Hike and didn’t want to push our lungs too far so we asked him for the closest spot to enjoy the waterfall. So our hike would be 15 minutes. That was enough to get us in the ice cold fresh water and spend an hour or two there modeling for pictures and relaxing. Fair warning, the river has a current so you better be able to swim and have sandals or water shoes to grip the rocks. Now, the hike back was about 25 minutes taking stops as we were exhausted lol. There are changing rooms and bathrooms in this stop FYI, but no showers. Not really needed with fresh water.

Sixth and last stop: THE MINDO CHOCOLATE TOUR of $8. This was the chocolate on top. MMM! You have to like chocolate in general for this tour and be willing to try all the percentages. So delicious and a beautiful end to the tour. This place takes debit or credit card if you want to buy anything you’ve sampled in bulk or bars. I bought almost one of everything. So it was great.

Eduardo is the man for Mindo!
Oct 2020
Eduardo is a passionate, knowledgeable and fun tour guide. From the pick up and driving through Quito on the way to Mindo Cloud Forest he provided so much great information on the Ecuadorian culture, indigenous history, food, topography, wildlife and more. Some highlights included the visiting the Alambi Hummingbird Reserve, ziplining across Mindo Cloud Forest, hiking to the waterfalls and tons of Ecuadorian chocolate and food.

Eduardo, you have a friend for life! Gracias hermano.
