The company had to combine efforts with another tour company due to low demand, however they kept me informed of changes and updated constantly. I believe I ended up with “Quito bus Tour” as the final provider. This place is stunning. Good itinerary as we got to see it before it got all foggy. Be prepared as the hike back up is an absolute killer! (I’m not joking it’s second to Fitz Roy haha!)

The tour went ahead despite Ecuador Hop not having enough people to fill a bus due to the country's current situation. They end up collaborating with another big tour operator in Quito (Quito Tour Bus) to do the tour which I think is good. With regards tour itself I have nothing to fault. The alternative transport provided was comfortable, always on time, the tour guides were competent and, perhaps the most relevant aspect, I never felt unsafe at any point. The only thing I didn't appreciate is a somewhat lack of transparency from Ecuador Hop when it comes to do the booking online. I believe it's safe to say they know beforehand it's unlikely they will have enough people to fill a big bus. So I think it would be fair to have a banner on the website saying "Due to current situation your tour may be adjusted and other operators may be used". In the end it didn't make any difference (you could even argue it was better because we got a private tour on day 2), but I'd like to know that before committing and paying 350$.

I had a great experience with Ecuador Hop. I had booked a trip in Ecuador in August, but due to some unforeseen circunstances the trip had to had some changes. The team from Ecuador Hop did their best and was very good at communicating and rearranging alternative days/trips so I didn't miss any experience that I wanted to have in Ecuador. I applaud them for that, because even in the case of unforeseen changes, they will do their best to make sure the experience is great.

Beware! I am not sure why this gets such amazing reviews! The views of the lagoon are indeed impressive. But given it’s a 6 hour round trip from Quito, I don’t believe the time or price are worth it. The climb down is steep and on gravel paths so very slippery. The time are the bottom is ok. The climb up if you don’t already live at high altitude is very very tough! We’re fit and healthy and really struggled due to altitude. The stop at the art centre is very average- as all the art is by 1 person. And the cultural visit to an Indigenous farm was 5 minutes of looking at vegetables and watching a child mistreat a dog- awful! Tip: do not, please do not, use the horses/donkeys to get back up the crater. They are so mistreated. No water and 1 we saw was clearly in pain - crying while walking until the person recognized this, got off and walked themselves. The horse owner refused to acknowledge the animal should not be working. Awful! If you have time to spare in Quito and looking for day trips- skip this. Go to Banos or Otavalo.

Normally I would not waste my time writing a negative review about something and just move on but I cannot in good conscience allow other travellers to possibly have the same experience that I had with Ecuadorhop. It resulted in extreme stress while trying to enjoy travelling in Ecuador, and I would hate for someone else to have this happen to them. Basically, I reserved a trip from Quito to Cuenca via Baños in February (to travel in June 2024). I had everything booked and paid for and did as they suggested with planning my itinerary around their buses and reserved all of my accommodation too. FOUR DAYS before the departure from Quito I was informed that the Baños to Cuenca leg would be cancelled. They offered no assistance and basically just said after Baños you’re on your own. They also were trying to keep the entire $149 I paid for the original trip instead of refunding the difference to the cheaper Quito to Baños route ($89) telling me “the price is the same” when it certainly is not, let alone the inconvenience of it all. I could’ve left it all at this point if they had delivered the rest of my reservation but no, a mere FIFTEEN HOURS before the scheduled pick up time from Quito they emailed me to tell me that the bus to Quilotoa is now cancelled. To their credit they did provide a full refund quickly. The bottom line is this. Book with extreme caution because Ecuadorhop take no responsibility for their passengers. Whether 3 months out or one day out your plans are never firm with this company. If they cancel the bus they’ll blame it on “the pandemic” “the political situation” “other guests cancelled their travel plans” but if they decide it’s not profitable for them to run a bus at any time they just cancel your trip and leave you stranded, throw some money back, and wash their hands of you. You’d think they’d try and arrange a taxi to shuttle you from your hostel ($3-4) to the public bus ($5) or at least provide you with day tour options, public bus locations/routes/timetable, ANYTHING, to keep you on track but you get nothing from them. Alone in a foreign country and your “local guide” will not help you. Unfortunately I had a similar experience with Peruhop which is the same company. I took a less popular route through Peru last year and they were trying to cancel my trips and change departure times while I was in the middle of the journey. The end of that trip was being dropped off at 1am alone outside some random gas station near the Lima airport (very dangerous and scary area) and left to find my way to my hotel. I was dumb and gave them another chance for Ecuador and now regret it dearly. They’ve cost me one night of lost accommodation, one night of additional accommodation, a week of vacation time I could've planned differently, as well as a lot of undue stress and scrambling to adjust plans at a time I am trying to relax and enjoy a trip on my break from work. Do not book with this company in either Ecuador or Peru or even Colombia which apparently they are launching soon. You can visit all of these locations on inexpensive day tours from the major cities and you can take local buses between them for much less than Ecuadorhop charges for their “convenience”. They are nothing special, they will ruin your experience in Ecuador and you’ll regret ever choosing to book with them.

I booked 4 days tour with Ecuador Hop, they took the money and just one day before the tour they kept changing our plans, cause we didn't have wifi it was very hard to keep up with the plan. We asked not to move forward and refund but they were not ready to refund, the 4 days tour is actually only 3 days tour, we spend one day sitting at the hotel since Quilotoa is only 1km town you don't have anything to do. Cause of constant change in plan my child was sick and we were even going to miss our flight. Please don't book with th but local tours like wonderful educador in banos or through Viator.

Adrian was a fantastic guide. I loved seeing the indigenous village and hearing about the way they live. Quilatoa itself was epic. It was so beautiful, I even cried a little when I saw it.

I used EcuadorHop in November of 2023 and it was the best decision we made. We did actually 4 days and 3 night with them in the end. We went to Cotopaxi, Quilotor and Baños and slept each location. However if you are active and loves acitivities, I would skip Quilotor to sleep and move on to Baños. The team was extremely helpful and professional. All the local guides speak great English and they love what they do. Also they could put us in a private vehicle due to the lack of participants and that was the best. They always speak to you via your whatsapp for the next trip and it was very convenient and helpful. We highly recommend you to trip with Ecuador Hop.

I had nothing but problems with this tour. I traveled with 2 others who had the same terrible experience. First, I booked online for a tour from Quito to Guayaquil to depart July 18th. The next day I get an email stating they wouldn't be able to depart that day, the next available day was the 20th. I completely changed my trip, canceling and rebooking reservations for hotels. Then about 2 days later, I receive a message that they don't have enough travelers to run their regular service. Not all of the stops promised would be included but I could pay an addition $20 for a tour I didn't ask for or want. Then they wouldn't be able to provide service all the way to Guayaquil, only to cuenca. And there would be no refund. When I asked why I wouldn't be getting a refund for not completing the entire promised trip, they said prices had gone up. Their prices had gone up in the 3 days since I'd booked? The company run in ecuador is horrible. They don't advertise anywhere- no tour office, no flyers in hostels, nothing. I traveled through ecuador for 3 weeks and I didn't meet any other traveler who had even heard of them.

I took the 4 day tour from Quito to Cotopaxi to Quilotoa and Baños. Absolutely amazing!! This is the best way to experience and explore Ecuador, get hopping with new friends and see everything special without the stress of planning and researching or even driving! Ecuador Hop has the best logistical team creating and executing the perfect trip with the best timing. Fantastic local guides on the buses and great stops for food and in depth knowledge about the area. Great communication always and the team went above and beyond to make sure I was happy, safe and really getting the best of Ecuador. I also had so much fun! I look forward to my next trip with Ecuador Hop!

Thank you to Ecuador Hop for making this happen. Unfortunately they are not fully operational however they organized an alternative through Quito Tours honoring our credit from 3 years ago (trip cancelled due to COVID). We experienced Cotopaxi, Quilotoa and Banos with all they have to offer. In the past, Ecuador Hop was a great way to travel. Safe, inexpensive with knowledgeable, friendly staff. BRILLANT DAY! We met fun people on the tour and we will travel together for a few weeks in Ecuador. The pick up was on time as it says on the reservation. Buses are really comfortable and good reclining seats. We saw some incredible views along the way! Everyone from the bus driver, guide and the office team were amazing, friendly, polite and informative. Gracias!

This company is a COMPLETE joke! They cancelled the trip two days before departure and we only received about 85% refund
