Andres was a fantastic guide making this experience exactly what our family wanted. We started by hiking a few minutes to see a majestic 100+ ft waterfall. Then we were able to stop at the highlight of our trip, a bird sanctuary where we saw many varieties of tangiers, hummingbirds, finches and some toucans. You can feed the hummingbirds from your hand!!! We then went to a butterfly experience where we saw 20+ varieties of butterflies and their cocoons. Finally we stopped at a chocolate making experience where we learned the full process of chocolate making. We tried nearly 20 varieties of Dark Chocolate. Each of the tours were $3-$10 extra.

Unfortunately I was booked on this tour: Quito for two nights with a day of touring around Quito and then middle of the World as well as 3 nights on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos. Then back to Quito for one night before flying back to the States. I originally had thought my travel agent had booked a tour that took me to Isabela Island as well but this tour did not. I was only on Santa Cruz. Very disappointed. And to top it off, both times I tried to check into the hotel in Quito this company had reserved for me, the hotel did not have my reservation which was very unsettling and disturbing for me as a singe female traveler. It eventually worked out and the hotel had a room for me but this was not very professional of the tour company . Also, two other girls were booked for all the same tours and were booked into significantly better hotels in both Quito and Santa Cruz. This is all very frustrating. Why did this all happen? All worked out but not to the extent that I felt I paid for. Better to really read what you’re getting carefully.

This monument marks the exact latitude 0* 00' 00" on the equator that separates the northern and souther hemisphere. Cool spot forgets of creative photos. Nearby shops sell souvenirs at reasonable prices.

Really recommend this, as you can tailor the day to your own interests. I lucked out with a guide who knows a lot about plants, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds in general, so I learned a lot on the hike to cascada reina, which I really recommend. It’s an hour each way, so beautiful, and includes a fun teleférico ride. The chocolate factory tour is great, with samples and description and demonstrations, and the bird watching stop is peaceful, beautiful, miraculous.

Hundreds of traders with their products at an open market. Nice place tp bargain if know Spanish. The market is good for handmade sweaters, ponchos and jewellery. If you have time you may visit. NOT a necessary trip. Prices at La Mariscal were same or better on some things

Local guide with good English. Good factual information on main sites of interest. Had driver in private car, which, given the horrendous traffic gridlock and lack of parking in Quito old town, was essential! Felt rushed though, with request for coffee stop after 2 hours, dismissed.

Visiting cotopaxi is impressive but you need to be lucky to see the mountain not too covered with clouds. Wind also plays its part and can be strong. There are many trails in the park so you don't have to climb too high. There are a few haciendas in the park with awesome views.

The place was amazing!! Its totally worth it to visit them. The Agency used here, TERRIBLE! They forgot to pick us up so we had to call from the hotel. Then they started contacting whoever could pick us up last minute and we waited from 8am until 10am for somebody to pick us up. Then the driver was upset because it was too late for the tour and he was rushing the whole time (Even in curves, which there is a lot, he was drifting with his car because he was in a rush). When we got to the lagoon, he didnt want us to do the hike because it was too long, and even when he was our guide, he did not want to accompany us. Little is to say that when coming back, still rushing or even more, he got a flat tire because the tires couldnt resist so much drifting, thanking God that it didnt happen in a curve 3,000 meter above sea level. So to resume, avoid anything related to BM tours. This is the second bad experience i have with the same agency here in Ecuador
