Great hike, but not completely happy with overall organization
The hike itself was really enjoyable, the Canyon is beautiful, we had a small nice group and our tour guide Ghersy was really great: very nice, responsible and well-informed. But there were several things about the tour/organization that were far from ideal. First of all, the guide that picked us up in the morning (different guy, named Nelson) was very rude, going off on me about how we were late and everybody was waiting, even though we followed the instructions from our hotel and were ready when they called us. When I talked to the rest of my group later, it turned out he had done this to almost everybody else: raising his voice, getting angry, blaming them for making the group late even though they were on time. Also during the bus ride, he explained 90% only in Spanish even though there were several non-Spanish speakers on the bus. I don't know why someone like that works in hospitality, but that was not a good experience. Also this tour seemed very reasonably priced in the first moment, but there are many things that are not included (entrance fees, all drinking water, the meal on the 2nd day which you can't really skip. Also the breakfast on the 2nd day is AFTER all the hiking so have to buy something for the morning yourself). The included food was good but it could have been more since the hike is challenging. Also it would have been nice to know that there is no toilet paper at the accomodation and you need a head lamp for the night and next morning. The whole schedule before and after the hike is a bit stressful since you are paired with the 1-day-tour people and have many stops, some of them didn't seem very valuable to us. All in all, I would highly recommend the hike but was not completely happy with the overall organizationof the tour.

        Great trek
The first day we had many stops and some did not seem to be of value . The condor stop was great, but stopping in some of the other places seemed excessive. We had a guide n the van named Nelson. He was not great. There was at least 6 English speaking people on the bus and he spoke the entire time in Spanish and then would tell us n English that we had 20 min at this stop, etc . We did not hear anything he had to say during the day (he spoke English, he chose not to . After we got to the start of the hike we got a new guide named Ghersey . He was AMAZING . He told us about plants and other things . He was an excellent guide for the whole trek. Spectacular guide Ghersey. The total route is about 20kms and it’s challenging. So be prepared for what you’re getting into. Keep your bag as light as possible.

        Highly recommend this tour!
We had an amazing time in the Colca Canyon on the 3 day tour. Spending 2 nights in the canyon meant we had more time to take in the spectular views and enjoy the peace and quiet of the lodges. Our guide Jonathan was so knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. He was also great at letting us walk at our own speeds. The lodges were basic but clean and the perfect places to relax and unplug from the world. The food was so good and we never went hungry!

        2 day hike
Ghersy was an excellent guide - full of enthusiasm, jokes and interesting facts. The whole tour ran very smoothly. Suggest bringing lots of water and snacks to avoid needing to buy on the trail.

        Beautiful, challenging hikes
Incredible views and scenery, everything ran very smoothly. There had been some bad weather previously so the guides made sure the paths were safe before proceeding. The hikes are quite difficult, but the views make it worth it! Ghersy is a legend

2 day trek in the Colca Canyon.
We had a great time doing our 2 day coloca canyon tour. The bus ride there was a rural and very uncomfortable but that was a small price to pay. The views in the canyon are beautiful. The trek is difficult and you will be very sore afterward, but it made for a great experience. In particular, our guide Ghersy was amazing. He was helpful, supportive and lots of fun. Really was what ultimately made our tour as enjoyable as it was. Cannot recommend him enough and cannot recommend this trip enough!

A Spectacular Tour of Colca Canyon!
We visited Colca Canyon on a private tour, which we arranged a few days before arriving in Arequipa. It was easy to arrange the tour, and we visited the office the day prior to finalize the trip. Our driver arrived at our hotel right on time at 5AM, and soon we picked up our guide Walter. We chose to start later and it was a great decision! After a photo stop for volcanoes at 16,200 feet, then vicunas and alpacas, we had a quick breakfast stop at 8AM before we went to the Canyon. We had told Walter that we like to hike, so he took us on a great walk to several scenic viewpoints. The hike was challenging due to the 12,000 foot elevation, but it was well worth the effort! And we saw condors flying! December is the start of the rainy season, so we weren't expecting to see them, but luck was with us. After almost 2 hours of hiking, we headed to a thermal bath complex for a nice dip, which was great after the hike. Then we stopped off for lunch, which was super cheap but delicious. We had a hard time staying awake for the trip home, but Ever did a great job despite all the traffic, and we were back at our hotel at 6PM. I'm glad that we did a later tour because we had the Canyon all to ourselves. We would be very happy to use this tour agency again. Note - all Colca Canyon tours require that you pay your own admission, which is S/70 per person. Breakfast is included, but lunch is not. Two crispy chicken sandwiches and an order of papas fritas cost S/48. The thermal baths cost S/15 per person. Bring cash.

The way to the salt flat is impressive because it passes between the volcanoes and climbs up to the puna. The visit to chiguata is beautiful, you have a close view of the misti. The view in the salt flat is stunning, with the back of Pichupichu, the volcano with colors. However, the visit becomes long because then you go to other parts of the lagoon with very long stops and landscapes that no longer wonder. I would advise that the tour be shorter. Fanny, the guide, very nice and willing. I recommend to bring lunch because there is a very expensive buffet and nothing special in the restaurant.

Although I didn’t get to see the scenery I was expecting due to the season, it was still very enjoyable overall. The surrounding mountain scenery is beautiful, the volcanoes are beautiful, and the hot springs are not very hot but very natural. The tour guide Johnny was very enthusiastic to help everyone take a lot of beautiful photos. His photography skills are great. He is also enthusiastic about sharing the coca leaves and tells a lot of cultural stories! Be aware of altitude sickness and keep warm.

I enjoyed my trip to Salinas a lot. The locations are beautiful, and the local food for breakfast and lunch was amazing. The thermal bath experience at 4500 meters was outstanding. Daniel, our guide, was amazing, always friendly and helpful. I had lots of fun taking pictures with reflections and dinosaurs. The driver was great too! I highly recommend this trip

Beautiful reserve to visit close to Arequipa! Our guide Nelson was very good, funny and knowledgeable. I have really enjoyed having him as a guide for the tour, he was giving us information, but not too much. 🙂
Luis, the driver, was also very adaptable to the group needs and a safe driver. Great tour, great breakfast/lunch place. Would recommend if you are looking for a beautiful place to visit close to Arequipa, with two amazing employees from Baby Lama! Gracias 😊
