An unforgettable one day journey to Machu Picchu
I joined a one day tour to Machu Picchu and was lucky to be the only person in the group. The guide, Hector, was amazing and explained the history of the Inca civilization in great detail. I learned so many fascinating new things. It was an incredible experience, truly once in a lifetime!

Well planned and comfortable ride with informative tour guide
Very comfortable bus with many helpful accommodations such as bathroom and charging ports and high quality seats. We enjoyed the buffet lunch with fresh fruits and vegetables. We appreciated the bilingual tour guide Roli and his expert knowledge as a Puno native. The number of stops was perfect, and we got many bathroom breaks and nap time, and we learned about a variety of topics related to Peru history and culture. Thank you for the well planned trip for me and my family.

          my wonder list
You are never too old to set new goals or dream new dreams. Visiting Machu Picchu has been on my wonder list since childhood. Machu Picchu has long been considered a site of spiritual significance, renowned for its healing and transformative energy. The ancient city is thought to have been a sacred space where the Incas connected with the divine. It’s possible that Machu Picchu was constructed for sacred purposes, reflecting the deep spiritual beliefs of the Inca civilization. The Incas revered their rulers as descendants of the sun god, Inti (pronounced in-TEE). After death, they mummified their rulers by removing their organs, preserving the bodies with alcohol, and relying on the cold, dry mountain air to keep the remains intact, ensuring a lasting connection to their divine ancestry

          incredible experience
what an amazing experience we were picked up from the hotel by van promptly at the appointment time and went straight to the station. The Vista Dome experience was amazing and the right to aguas already breathtaking. MP guide was so knowledgeable and patiently answered all her questions even helped us find lunch places to go after the tour. We were always in close contact with the tours representatives all the way back to Poroy and into our requested drop off at cusco cityCenter!

          An amazing adventure.
An amazing adventure! Rony planned a wonderful tour. He picked us up from our hotel and ensured we fully understand, and had the requisite tickets for, all aspects of our journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu; which entailed a bus, train, and another bus trip. Roy, our tour guide, was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Machu Picchu. He patiently answered our questions, told us some great stories, and took awesome photos. Many thanks to both for making this dream trip a wonderful and rewarding adventure. P.S. Be sure to bring a rain jacket, despite the forecast for the day!

Machu Picchu - Top of the (Peruvian) World
Fifty years after my first wish to visit this fabled location, the opportunity presented itself, and I took it. It was worth waiting 50 years! A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983 and designated one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, when blessed with good weather as I was, the scenery is astounding! There is little actually known about this 15th Century site, but the engineering and skills needed to construct it -- separate from the western knowledge of astronomy, cartography, printing, etc. - show how truly advanced the Inca civilization was, despite being hidden from the rest of the world. It's the #1 visited site in Peru, and for good reason!

A little kitchy, but fun evening
This is a dinner show restaurant, and it was a lot of fun watching the crowd sing along with some of the popular Spanish songs. An international crowd. Food was okay. Wait staff is good

The views are spectacular and the insight’s given us by our guide made our visit so much more insightful and complete.
We gained a more respectful view of the Incas and their amazing culture and intelligence. They were way ahead of their time.

          Take your breath away
Get ready to acclimatize. Cusco is 11,000 ft and it os scarey at first trying to breath but they quickly take you down to 9000 ft for a day then to Machu Picchu at 8000 ft. By then, you can run around like a llama. Absolutely beautiful!

Your journey to Machu Picchu starts with a welcome mimosa in the private area of the train station. There the attention and great service starts with your journey to Aguascalientes at the base of Machu Picchu. The staff will make every effort to make your trip enjoyable and memorable. They will cater to all your needs. The viewing car has a bar ready to serve you all type of cocktails or coffee while you listen to music and take on the amazing views. If you are taking the Hiram Bingham to and from Machu Picchu you will get to enjoy a delicious brunch and dinner paired with the wine of your choosing. The attention to detail never ends as the staff will provide you with a bag and a water bottle and even a raincoat for your trip up the mountain. Even though we weren't able to book the entrance to Machu Picchu with the company they were gracious enough to coordinate a guide which was insightful and walk us all the way through the Citadel Circuit 3. Once you finish the tour and before you go down the mountain we were invited to a cocktail and hors d'oeuvre in the Belmond Lodge which sit right next to Machu Picchu entrance. After a long day you will get to rest and eat on your way back with everybody trying to make your trip as meaningful and enjoyable as possible. It's definitely worth the extra cost for all of us that want that extra level of attention and convenience. The best part of your day will definitely be getting to see Machu Picchu but getting to and from aboard the Hiram Bingham will make it that much more special.

Exceptional, exquisite and unique way to get to Machu Picchu.
It's an expensive experience, but it's a beautiful way to make the journey. The food is really good, the animation too, the train is very well clean and cared for. We really recommend.
When we arrived at Machu Picchu we made the visit with a guide from the company itself (was included in the price ) -Liz- we loved it!!! He patiently took us beautiful photographs while making us the whole frame .

This was a splurge for us because we don’t know if we’ll ever make it back here in our lifetime and it was worth every penny. We booked this train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes, stayed the night and then booked this train the following day back to Cusco.
Pablo waited on our table both directions and he was phenomenal and so attentive. Sara helped organize the groups to get to the buses and up to Machu Picchu and she was awesome. All the staff made you feel like royalty. The food was delicious and we loved having the private waiting room area in Aguas Calientes. We will never forget this incredible experience !

This is Yi Shen, passenger and victim for the Hiram Bingham Feb 8th/2024 disaster! The train been derailed, after the couple minutes huge bumpy and jumping from the train, the whole dining area was covered by crashed glasses, the dropping luggage, pale faced passengers, splashed wine/beverage everywhere….

Just back to USA and here to address the manor regarding to that gigantic chaos.

Personally I did contact Belmond train Feb 9th/2024 round afternoon time, however my family not satisfied with either the solution or the response from Belmond!

First of all, due to long term great reputation of Hiram Bingham train service, so I made the reservation for this epic round trip. (My mom passed, tried to give my dad a break). Assumed we gonna have some good experiences, but not really. Especially the derailment would be life threatening, and after that most of passengers lost their appetite, been scared about what was gonna happen? Even though from Wanchaq to Machu Picchu train ride was quite average , passengers couldn’t even made a choice but standard meal set. The restroom near bar area been broken, and kept that status on the train back to Cusco. No fixing at all. There were several passengers from the Celebrity Cruise, cause I saw the logo on their tour guider’s outfit. That lady was quite nice and responsive, every 15-20 mins, she would check her team members and updated the situation. However, our tour guider from Hiram Bingham barely did anything, he never greeted any passengers and check if everyone was ok. Not really eager to help people out and keep info updated; unless he had to make the announcement to all passengers. (His name Rodi). Not a well atmosphere, as the fair statement. Furthermore round trip would be the whole package of Hiram Bingham experience, wouldn’t be reasonable to divided by two.

When the incident happened, I held my glass, but red wine still splashed out on my white Polo shirt, when we finally arrived at hotel, time frame was 2am; which should be round 9pm as the arrangement…

I specifically showed train Manager Henry about my all tinted top, and asked for the detailed report regarding this nightmare. After several emails, haven’t heard anything about my report yet, but ball kicking lol. Now my question here “ Is Hiram Bingham experience really worth?!”

As above-mentioned content, we don’t think the partial refund from Belmond (a world famous iconic service chain) would be a proper way for the apologies; since customers got more potential cost behind…

I’d like to communicate with the higher level management team, in order to address this issue.

        Best regards

Hiram Bingham Belmond train to Machu Pichu is a wonderful experience. They take care of minute details throughout so we could sit back and enjoy Machu Pichu. They take care of the guide, entrance/bus tickets provided booked 45 days prior. Food, drinks and service are exceptional, the staff is really friendly and help with adjustments in food preferences without any issues. Journey includes 3 hour Machu Pichu site in one of the circuits, Guides are extremely knowledgeable and takes times to go around the site and enjoy each moment. Big shout out to our guide - Washington. At the end of the MP tour, there is celebratory champagne and delicious small bites. Highly recommend to everyone who don't wish or cant hike. Although the prices are on the higher end, keep looking for offers in their website

We had an amazing day. The train is beautiful. Our guide was phenomenal. The logistics were smooth. The staff were attentive.

We just did not feel the value was there. We would rather have paid less for the tickets and been charged for alcohol, the meals we wanted to eat and any souvenirs on offer, than have paid what we did only to eat one of the meals provided and be given cheap, tacky souvenirs that broke before we had even left Peru. Disappointingly, the meal we did eat was small (dinner) and we needed to eat again after disembarking.

We went to Machu Picchu with a group at the beginning of April 2024. The trip did not start in Cusco but at the Belmond Hotel in the Urubamba Valley. There it begins with a welcome cocktail before boarding the train. The train exudes the charm of the 1920s and the service was perfect. The bar is also in the panorama carriage and there is a bar playing, which unfortunately makes it very loud there and some travelers unfortunately make too much use of the fact that drinks are included in the price.
The journey itself through the narrow valley is impressive and the food was also of a very high standard. Once you reach your destination, you take buses to Machu Picchu, where in my opinion the biggest advantage of taking this train becomes apparent: you have a top time window for the visit. The teatime in the Belmond Hotel there was unfortunately a bit disappointing, anyone expecting a high tea or something similar will unfortunately be disappointed. There are small snacks and drinks.
Before the trip, each person receives a metal drinking bottle and at the end a leather backpack.
Overall, it was interesting to travel on a train like this and everything that goes with it, but in my opinion it is not a must. Because of the costs, you should also check out the other train alternatives and make your own decision.

Had a small band playing music to entertain on the way. A full bar car with both bar stools and lounge chairs for seating. There is also a small caboose to allow you to take pics in teh open air as well as enjoy the atmosphere. The meal that was erved was outstanding, great service.

My friend and I traveled hey to Peru to visit Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley! With the help of Chris Mahoney, and Uncover Latin America Travel Agency, we had the best experience you could ever imagine. Chris helped us book a nice in a lifetime one-way train experience from Cusco to Aguas Calientes on the Hiram BinghamTrain and it was unbelievable! From the time we checked in to the end of the train ride, we were treated like royalty! The food was delicious, the bartenders, or should I call them mixologists, were extremely talented, and the entertainment in the observation car was fun and interactive! If you have an opportunity to travel to Machu Picchu, I highly recommend spending the extra money to take the Hiram Bingham Train to Aguas Calientes train station. And if you’re looking for a travel agency that ensures that every step of the way, your trip is expertly planned with no issues, I highly recommend Uncover Latin America!

This train truly makes the trip to Machu Picchu a trip of a lifetime. From the moment they open your taxi door at Poroy Station to the moment you arrive back at your hotel, you are completely taken care of. The station manager and Jimmy made sure we had all of the details of our trip finalized before we left. The lobby and welcome drink at the station are a great way to relax before the journey. The traditional band and dancers get everyone excited during boarding! Onboard, the bar car and restaurant cars are immaculate and luxurious - you will then understand why this is one of the top trains in the world. All of the staff goes above and beyond with their warm, high-end service. Nick even let us borrow his charger both ways! Jimmy took wonderful care of us both ways, and made sure we had delicious vegan options, which he had the kitchen customize just for us - he also brought me a blanket and pillow when I was exhausted on the ride back! The band is absolutely phenomenal, as well. They played a wide variety of songs, from traditional Peruvian music, to popular latin songs, as well as classics in English with a nice latin flare. This was absolutely the way to do the trip to Machu Picchu, and I recommend this for anyone.
