- saritasZ4390PX0 contributionsExcellent Valencia Travel tour of Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and more with Aldo. Scenery, history and culture. Our small group tour with Valencia Travel was beyond our expectations. Sacred Valley, one day Inca trail, Machu Picchu, Cusco and surrounds. Aldo was a fantastic guide, passionately sharing his local knowledge. He responded to our interests and gave us an excellent experience of Incan history and culture, and life today. He was organised, reliable, insightful and great company. Amazing scenery. A better experience would be hard to find.Written 3 December 2024
- PeterG33230 contributionsA holiday of a life timeA visit to Cusco and surrounding areas. Our guide Aldo was first class. His knowledge 10/10. Highly recommend him. Our walk to Machu Picchu via Winay Wanay with Aldo as our guide was great, he made it worth while.Written 2 December 2024
- cruiserdog20 contributionsOUR PERUVIAN FAMILY ADVENTUREOur visit to Peru was excellent, and our guides Rolly (head guide) and his assistant Rene were first class. They arranged everything to the letter, including seats on our bus (rotated so fair to everyone), and we did not have to worry about anything. All issues were dealt with professionally and Rolly’s knowledge, experience and presentation was first class. We cannot recommend them high enough. Thx Rolly and Rene, part of our family now.Written 1 December 2024
- nataliacC4506YA0 contributionsCuzco and MachupicchuJose our guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable person of the Inca culture. He makes us feel welcome all the time and sure we were satisfied with everything. The high was a challenge for me but he was very attentive making sure I was feeling well. The food was great for me as I did not have any food restrictions however, some of my colleagues did and some restaurants such as Calle de en medio was not great and did not offer suitable options for the people with food restriction, that was totally out of Jose’s hands. Over all a great experience rich in culture, that leave me with the sense of wanting to come back.Written 1 December 2024

- deiont9480 contributionsAmazing Andes and Antaric cruise. Trip a Deal / Valencia tours. Highly recommend.Trip a Deal / Valencia tours Amazing Andes and Antarctic cruise. We travelled to Lima, Amazon, Cusco, Machu Picchu and then left our guides heading to Buenos Aires. A truly amazing trip only made better by our guides Claudio and Jermo (sadly they did not come to Buenos Aires). Nothing was a problem for the gentlemen. Our group was not small at 41 travellers. We were kept updated by whatsapp. The knowledge and information the men supplied was excellent. The guides in the Amazon also exception as was Elizabeth at Machu Picchu. I cannot speak highly enough of them all.Written 30 November 2024

This trek is one and a million. Aldo, our guide, was knowledgable and our on the trail experiences were perfect. Our chef and porters were amazing- the food was better than any restaurant in Peru. Our tents were set up in the best campsite and the porters were a well oiled machine. The vistas were to die for and of course, Machu Picchu. We had great weather and even though the hike and altitude and challenging, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. We got a glimpse of the Quechuan culture and history and Aldo explained everything and gave us context for this trek. Our group was 6 wonderful people and that in and of itself was literally perfect. I feel like a better person because of this experience.
This five star review does not include the front office of Valencia. Their communication was awful. Well technically there was no communication so I guess I can’t comment. We received no information before the trail and were unprepared. We flew to Peru not knowing how we were going to get to the hotel, or even which hotel in Cusco we were staying. While in Cusco we were told not to come to their office to talk in person due to a number of excuses. At the end of 4 days they cancelled our hotel room which we paid for because we weren’t staying the night, even though we wanted to use the room and shower before our flight. I would give Vivian and Brigitte maybe one star together. I hope they can learn from this review. If I had to recommend them to a friend I would tell them to ask for everything in advance and be prepared for the horrible customer service.

I just completed the 4 day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Our guide, Rene Ferdinand was incredible! He took his time with the group to make sure everyone's needs were being met while also sharing the history of several stops along the way. The porters and chef were equally great and the food was amazing (including a full cake on the last day of the hike). I would recommend Rene and Valencia Travel to anyone who is interested in visiting an incredibly magical place.

The beauty of this place cannot be expressed in words, captured in photos, or contained in videos on YouTube. One has to experience this majestic part of the world in person.
Valencia Travel was exceptional and even assisted us with getting the required covid tests on a Saturday night for a Sunday flight back to the US. Everything they did was above and beyond! Vivian was helpful and responsive to all my questions during the entire couple of months leading up to my arrival. I couldn’t have been better prepared for this trip without her help.
As far the trek goes: it was greater than I expected. I’m not saying it was easy, it definitely challenged everyone but our exceptional guide, Rene, was tireless and attentive to each of our needs. He molded eight people from different locations into a family that relied upon and trusted his guidance and worked together and in the end expressed real concern towards other members well being. The food and the camp sites provided by the wonderful chefs and porter staff was welcoming, friendly, and became home to us each afternoon. Some aspects were very comfortable especially for campsite standards.
Rene fulfilled so many roles to us: guide, historian, friend, leader, and he completely earned and deserved of all of our admiration and respect. His generous and never waning energy and dedication to each of our needs impressed me to no end. I honestly don’t know when he slept, ate, or used the banos! He was constantly busy and would jump up if one of us had an empty glass and made sure it was refilled.
Thank you so much, my friend, for the perfect trek. I hope to see you next time I return to Peru.

My experience started at booking from the sales team to the actual adventure, everyone was outstanding
Cecilia in the booking part, was always available and every time answer our questions in a quick matter of time, our trip was delayed about 16 months because of COVID-19, but she always keep us updated.
Arriving was perfect, Miguel was excellent waiting for us and taking us to our hotel.
But the most important part of my experience was our team of 13 porters, one Chef “Wilfredo” and Nico❤️ I have no enough words to describe the excellent personal service that Nico had giving us,
he was not just a tour guide, he was a support system a Friend a brother and he will always be in my heart.
Chef and team went above and beyond my expectations, the quality of service and the delicious meals, no one will ever think that they are trekking alongside us.
I worked and the hospitality business myself and I know what great service service can be, this was beyond excellent service.
I want to thank again every single porter for such and amazing work, and I want to tell you that never went unnoticed,
Best service ever, best food, best views and encouragement,
Nico stayed with us all the way to the end never left us behind even when we got back to Cusco he took the time to take us to get out negative Covid test, what a terrific person.
I completely love my experience with Valencia travel.
I hope we can do this again, so this is not a good bye, this a see you later Nico, we love you.

I can’t say enough about how phenomenal the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and Valencia Travel are!! But here’s some short praise of my experience…..
I was originally booked to go in May of 2020, but obviously Covid changed the worlds’ plans. I just rebooked my April 2022 trip one month prior, and even with that short of planning, everything was smooth! (I did arrive to Cusco three hours later than planned because of Lima airport issues, but communicating with Brigitte via WhatsApp made it a seamless pickup once I did land.) Brigitte, the travel agent I worked with, was extremely helpful and prompt in replying to any questions I had. She set the tone for me feeling great about choosing Valencia Travel Cusco!
The day of arrival my friend and I just explored Cusco on our own. It is a colorful and beautiful city with sweet people and great food! Day 2 we did the Sacred Valley tour and I highly recommend it for the beauty you get to see and the history and culture you get to learn about!
Now for the 4 day hike along the Inca Trail, culminating at Machu Picchu. The hike itself has such beautiful views and numerous Inca terraces that it continually blew my mind! The efficiency and athleticism of the porters is another thing I won’t forget….they are amazing!! The food prepared by our head cook Wilfredo blew my expectations out of the water! As a vegetarian I was pretty much expecting rice and beans for every meal. But the variety of food and the flavors that were served up were delicious! And finally, our tour guide Hugo deserves HUGE praise for how amazing he is!! He made our group of 6 hikers (only one of whom was my friend I did this trip with) and our team of porters and cooks feel like a family for four days. He clearly loves the land and history he gets stare with his tour groups, and it translates into a beautiful experience! He answered about a bazillion questions I had and always made sure everyone felt safe along the trail. Hugo has such a kind and fun spirit and was an absolute pleasure to have guide our trip!!

The best experience I ever had dealing with a travel agency. Valencia Travel Cusco outdid it self. Had booked this trip before the pandemic to travel in March of 2020. Due to COVID had to cancel and we rescheduled for this Sept 2021.
Cecilia was our point of contact to reschedule and plan our trip. She was phenomenal always responding to all e mails and clarifying any questions we had. Specially with all COVID new restrictions and anxiety to travel abroad.
Since the day we arrived at the airport with Miguel picking us up till the day we left we were blown away with the service and hospitality everyone provided. Our guide in the trail was Nico what a jewel of an individual he made our trek an experience that we will never forget. We felt like him and his staff, porters and Chef Wilfredo and the rest of the hikers were all a big happy family.
It was sad to say goodbye to everyone when our trek was finished and everyone had to go back to their own real life. The moments that we all shared on this wonderful hike will remain with us forever. What an amazing team you have.
Thank you again and hope to use your agency again for our future travels.

I did the 4D/3N Inca Trail hike and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Our guide, Rene, was the kindest and most accommodating guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of touring with. He was knowledgeable, funny, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed.
Our Chef, Mario, blew us away with his 3-course meals. We couldn’t believe we were actually camping each time we sat down to eat! Not only was the food outstanding, but there was always more than enough.
As for the rest of the team, our porters exceeded every expectation we had. We literally couldn’t have done it without them.
I would very highly recommend Valencia to absolutely anybody interested in making the trek— especially if you are lucky enough to get Rene and Mario to lead your group. Thank you so much Rene, Mario, Wilfredo, Carmelo, Elloterio and the rest of the team for 4 of the best days of my life!

This was an exhausting, but fantastic experience! Aldo Sanchez was our tour guide, Gregorio was our chef, and we had 12 porters that carry tents and food, etc. Aldo was awesome! So knowledgeable and caring; you can tell he is very passionate about the culture and this work, and I would recommend Aldo if you have the option! It is definitely a trek, but there are lots of beautiful spots along the way that the guide takes you to. Expect cold showers and a lot of squatter toilets, but also delicious traditional Peruvian food along the way! It is a once in a lifetime experience, and I would highly recommend!

It was a tour delayed by three years but it turned out to be a surprisingly perfect life experience! I have to give Valencia Travel Cusco a big thumbs up! The sale team was great in communications over the three plus years, and they made everything as clear as possible at the circumstances (cancellation and credit due to covid etc). They provided seamlessless pickup and dropoff service from/to your hotel. No trouble if you don't speak Spanish as everyone in the sales team speak excellent English. And when they send a driver who doesn't speak English they actually also send another staff who speak English! Now the walk itself … cannot be better. First of all, there were only my wife and myself in our group and we really appreciate they didn't ask us to reschedule our tour due to low number in the tour group. Secondly, with two of us, they still sticked to the regulations and provided one guide, one chef and five porters for the whole tour duration. Yes this is a 7:2 ratio. The tour guide Nico was a legend. He speaks excellent English and has in depth local knowledge and we learned so much from him. He was very patient and let us and helped us take as much photos as we desired. When he learned that I love orchids he actively looked for wild orchids and explained to me in details. The chef was first class. He made three meals a day for four days and there wasn't any repeat! The food was delicious and it always had more than we could finish. Remember all ingredients he used were carried up by the porters from Cusco! The porters were of course amazing and wonderful. Each of them carried close to 30kg, which included food, kitchen stove and utensils, tents, chairs and a table! All in all, it was a life time unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.

Hey, jifux!
Thanks for those thumbs up :)
We thank you for the detail and the time dedicated to the review. We do Valencia Travel Cusco with a lot of love. We are extremely pleased that they have chosen us to visit Peru, especially after three years of thinking, dreaming and preparing for this experience. How nice that you found the orchids; we love our passengers who value nature and all the social aspects you mentioned; congratulations on that awareness of others and the appreciation of those details.
You will always be welcome on our land.
Have a beautiful week and year.

This is a mixed review - We had the most awesome guides (Oskar and Charlotte) and the most dedicated teams of cooks and porters. Our experience was really awesome.
Valencia travel on the other hand appears to be in a bit of disarray. The night before we were scheduled to fly to Cusco we got an email demanding full payment or else we wouldn't be able to continue with the trip. We had already flown to Lima and had confirmed our booking months before travelling. Our original booking had been paid in full 2 years before but had been postponed due to COVID. Valencia contacted us to let us know that we needed to redeem our existing booking credit before the end of the year. We then made our booking, got out flights and travelled to Peru only to be told that they hadn't received full payment once we had arrived in Lima and were already committed and in transit.
Thankfully one of our team is a Peruvian national and was able to argue with them for a few hours until they backed down. It felt like a "shake down" to us since we couldn't cancel at that late stage and it honestly felt like we were being extorted.
There were a few other "small print" issues too: we hired sleeping bags and mattresses only to be told that we had to pay an additional amount to get them carried (it would seem that if someone was renting equipment that it would include the transportation of that equipment). Other pricing also changed more than once.
In the end the trip was amazing, and I want to reiterate that Oskar, Scarlett and the rest of the team that looked after us were incredible. My only hope is that they received a fair portion of the fees we paid, since they really did most of the work and made our adventure unforgettable.
I just wish we could forget our experience with the admin/executive/financial staff at Valencia travel.

Dear JamesTheH,
Thank you for your review; it helps us learn from your perspective. We are sorry you had to be part of this bad experience.
As we explained to your group during your visit, your local travel agency still has an outstanding debt with Valencia for more than two years, and we couldn't continue to receive guests without any payment.
Yes, the payments you made were never received by Valencia Travel. We know this is a problem between your local agency and us, but we had no choice but to ask for payments directly for the company's sake as we continue to pay our dues.
We are sorry you felt this was a "shakedown," but the real shakedown was played on us, as we operate your local agency's groups without any payments.
Regarding the "small print" issues, the things we rent are for personal use, there is a weight limit that the porters can carry, and we are very serious about taking care of our staff. Carrying individual items is included in the fee, but if you surpass the weight limit, you need to hire an additional porter. This is why you had to pay an extra fee.
Oskar, Scarlett, and all our wonderful guides receive fair compensation for their services; we treat them well, and even if we don't receive payment from clients, we always pay them for the quality experience they offer.

Hello, wondering what size of a group we should expect for this tour?
Written 15 October 2019
With Valencia Travel Cusco there were 12 of us hiking.

Hi, me and my partner are looking to book for Jan 27th, I saw other packages that you offer. What is the difference between "group" and private tour?

Hi ! We are looking to book for 27.01.2020 for the 4 day, is there storage for our main bags whilst we go on the 4 day trip or do we take it with us?
Written 4 September 2019
Since we were returning to the same hotel for a night at the conclusion of our hike, we were allowed to store our suitcases there.
Written 4 September 2019
Hi I would like to know if we have those 4 days accommodation in tents and food because in the section what to expect it says that the accommodation and meals are not included I don't know what to believe. Thanks!

With Valencia Travel - they included all meals and snacks. It was amazing. The food was prepared fresh daily.

We are doing the 4 day hike, what time do you normally get back to Cusco after seeing Macchu Picchu? Trying to coordinate arrangements. Thanks!!
Written 24 June 2019
That depends what time you start the last hike to Macchu Picchu. Our group got up at 4am and hiked into the sunrise. We were arrived at Macchu Picchu in the morning and were on the bus into town by noon. We had an amazing lunch at one of the local restaurants. We beat the crowds, it was great! It was the best way to do it, we then traveled back to Cusco had dinner and had hotel arrangements for a night stay.

We are doing the 4 day hike, what size of back pack do you recommend?
Written 27 May 2019
Hi. Great question. I recommend 45L. You should be good with a 30-45L pack. Some of the backpacks come with a raincover. If yours does not I would highly recommend that you purchase the raincover to keep all your stuff nice and dry! Also, we did not pay the additional fee for our own porter; if you decide to go that route you might be able to get away with going slightly smaller.
Written 28 May 2019
For extra fee can you provide a sleeping bag and can we hire porters for our personal items? If so, what is the cost of these two add ons?
Written 17 May 2019
You can rent a sleeping bag from Valencia, and they are comfortable and clean. Pay extra for the personal porter to carry it along with some additional items. It is so worth it! The porters are amazing, so tip graciously. I don’t remember the exact price, but it is worth it. They will give you a large duffle to fit everything into, and if I remember correctly as mentioned by another post, it is up to 7kg.
