- okay19510 contributionsThe food was good, Monkey Island was fun and the night ride for animals and stars was a bonus! Our guide Evon was wonderful. He took us to Lake Sandoval and we enjoyed it very much. I am not sure why we got to go there and some others did a 5 mi trek thru the jungle seeing very little but we were thrilled that Evan was our guide. Excellent english, funny and very knowledgeable.Written 28 October 2024
- matiuk20150 contributionsKiwis in CuscoWe could not have asked for a better tour guide in Hugo. Believe it or not but this was his first tour. We honestly thought he was a seasoned pro and had been doing it for years. Hugo's knowledge was so informative and he even made allowance for us to go into the grounds of Saqsawayman (at our expense) even though this wasn't actually part of the tour. We got to experience things and places that you wouldn't walking or sitting on a bus tour, and we got some exercise. The fruit that Hugo got us from the SAN Padro market was amazing. Thank you so much for an amazing experience Hugo. Ka kite ano (see you again)Written 26 September 2024
- 735colinj0 contributionsCultural Immersion- Lives Up to the Name & More!We came across "Cultural Immersion" during our research for a planned trip to Peru in July 2024. We were lucky to do so, as the office team led by Natasja was there throughout the planning process, and answered the questions we had in a timely fashion-typically within a day. We decided upon the "Incan Wonders- Best Short Peru Visit," which included visits to Umasbamba, Maras, kayaking on Waypo Lake, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu, Cusco & Lima. Our guide Alvaro & driver Carlos where fantastic throughout the tour. Alvaro was an encyclopedia of knowledge, and was kind, flexible & made our trip truly memorable. Carlos was timely, considerate & efficient, everything a driver should be, especially in a different country/continent. The transfers between areas were well-timed & thought through, while the restaurant selections where awesome- truly reflecting the uniqueness of Peruvian cuisine. Overall, the experience of the trip was awesome, and we would highly recommend Cultural Immersion. Thank you to the team!Written 18 July 2024
- alangU8707GC0 contributionsA wonderful trip our family of 5 will remember our entire lives. Our family really enjoyed this tour. There was a lot of complexity since we were touring Lima for a day, going to the Amazon jungle, doing a day of biking in the countryside around Maras and seeing the amazing salt mines, hiking for 5-6 hours to Machu Picchu, touring Machu Picchu, and touring Cusco - all in 10 days! I was worried about the logistics but Cultural Immersion handled it all without a glitch. Between planes, trains, automobiles, boats, and transfers this was quite a feat. And we had wonderful guides the entire time who had great personalities and energy. I'd highly recommend the experience to anyone and I'd say it would be very hard to find a better tour company to do it with.Written 22 July 2023
- NaomiKnight160 contributionsThé Inka Trail - the most amazing trip ever!Viktor & the team of chefs & porters at Cultural Immersion were absolutely brilliant. We did a 4 day trek with 3 nights camping & it was one of the best experiences of my life. The campsites were basic but everything was ready when we arrived. The food was totally unexpected - Chefs Cristobal & Mario cooked amazing food for breakfast, lunch & dinner on a camp stove - covering myself as a vegetarian & my husband as almost the opposite. The walk is tough so be prepared but the views are constantly breathtaking. Viktor gave us really interesting information all the way through the trek & was a lot of fun to spend time with. He knew a lot of places for us to see that were not just the standard. I cannot recommend this company enough - they all have Inka heritage & spoke Quechua as well as English & Spanish - they were kind, helpful, friendly and super professional! Thank you all for an amazing trip ..Written 20 April 2023
- CourtCars0 contributions10/10 recommend : From The Amazon Jungle To Machu Picchu 10 Days (9 nights)We actually did the 10 days (9 nights) tour with cultural immersion! Willie was our driver and Alvaro was our guide. We had a great time on our vacation where we visited The Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco and finally the Amazon Jungle. lots of early mornings with a well balanced schedule. If you're looking for a peruvian experience but are short on time then I recommend the 10 day/9 night tour (available on their website). The whole process of booking and communicating was really easy for us - Alvaro (our guide) was also the person who handled our booking and whom I was planning with through email so that was lovely to put a face to the name!Written 16 August 2022
- udi20130 contributionswrong information about accommodation costWe booked a few days in one of the Amazonas lodges through them. After receiving a confirmation email from Cultural Immersion, and making full payment (!) , we received another email saying the lodge rejected our reservation, because they have no rooms left from the class we ordered and we have to pay more to upgrade to a different room class. When we arrived at the lodge we were assigned a room of the class we initially asked for. It’s very hard to believe that the lodge said they had no rooms of that class, when they clearly had at least one... we asked for a refund of the extra – but they wouldn’t give it back. the lodge, which is operated by a different company, was fine.Written 2 June 2022
- W3911ICdaniellew0 contributionsWonderful experience. This was one of the best coordinated vacations I’ve ever been on. There was little to no time waiting around to do things! You also got to see Peru and what it has to offer from a more personal perspective. As well, the staff are extremely friendly and understanding on the change in culture and environment! Strongly recommend!Written 2 June 2022
- Samantha R0 contributionsTrip of a Lifetime in South AmericaWe booked this tour due to reasonable pricing and the good reviews. We were beyond amazed with how smooth the trip went and how much we were able to see. The tour company takes care of everything-domestic flights, day tours, a private guide, etc. This makes it to where we did not have to worry about anything while on the trip-it was already taken care of. The hotels the company booked us for were wonderful-nice staff, clean, and a great location. We loved all of the tours/excursions we did. What truly made this tour great though was the staff. Our first driver Fernando was extremely nice, when we mentioned wanting to see the ocean (my mom had never seen it before) he offered to pick us up early and take us! Then, the tour guide we had for Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu (I feel terrible I can’t remember his name) was outstanding! He was polite and SO knowledgeable! He was very engaging when talking about the different sites we visited. Lastly, our rainforest stay was incredible. The hotel we stayed in was amazing, and our days were packed full of excursions. We were able to see so many animals, including monkeys, a python, an anaconda, caiman, and so much more! I would absolutely recommend this tour company to anyone who is interested in visiting Peru!Written 9 August 2021
- DebCress0 contributionsDay tour with Christian of Peru SightseeingThis was a great day out due to Christian being a really fun guy and very knowledgeable too. We made some great stops a long the way that divided this journey into interesting sections. Really learned a lot more and found a lot more out about Peruvian history than we had anticipated.!Written 6 July 2021
- Jzeliger510 contributionsOverall - great! We had 2 nights in the Amazon at Amazona Posadas. We packed in a lot to very little time. The lodge was beautiful and very comfortable, food was excellent. Our guide was very good but seemed a bit disinterested at times. Very knowledgeable. We then went to Cusco, had a walking tour and cooking class. Our new guide, Albero was excellent. Our cooking class with Jesus was fun, very accommodating. We then moved on to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Highly recommend the hike at MP Mountain. Our guide was very supportive and patient! Next we then went to the Rainbow Mountain. Unfortunately, though I requested we NOT go to Vinicunca, that is where we were taken. It was very beautiful, but very crowded. I did not understand why we did not go to Palcoyo. Was told later it was not accessible due to landslides. This may have been the case, but was unhappy about the lack of transparency prior to embarking. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and grateful to have completed it before the travel restrictions were set in place for the COVID pandemic.Written 5 April 2020
- jacquelineb6430 contributionsAmazing tourWe really had a great time. Our guide was really fantastic, he explained in English and Spanish. he knew that much about the jungle and we thought he really enjoyed his job. The lodge management and all the stuff working at that tour were really nice and helpful.Written 2 January 2020
- 394mariec0 contributionsAn unforgettable trip!We went to Lima, the Amazon jungle, Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. We had an absolutely phenomenal time. Everywhere we went the staff really couldn't do enough for us. Even when things didn't go exactly as planned, e.g. riots in central Lima! Grethel sorted out alternative transport and even met us in Cusco to check we were ok. There were some absolutely amazing guides including Luis at the lodge and Wilfredo Torres who was our guide in Cusco. Willow, as Wilfredo likes to be called was an absolute superstar of a guide with a burning passion for the history of the region. An absolute expert on Incas and their architecture he was also intimately familiar with the city and knew lots of trivia including about the local sites. I think however that his great familiarity with the guides and people was most evident in Machu Picchu where he lead us on a tour of the city, which timed it so perfectly that we almost felt it was just us, despite the absolute hordes of people rocketing around the place. If you're going to see Machu Picchu then I can think of no one better to take you around. If you're hesitating about which tour to take then I can without hesitation recommend this one.Written 26 December 2019

Jesus met us at the market and we did a tour - he was very thorough about the products and we enjoyed tasting the delicious chocolate! From there it was a short taxi ride to the cooking studio which was very modern and well laid out as a perfect teaching kitchen. We really enjoyed making our own pisco sours and the food was delicious (no spoiler alert)! The facility was clean, modern, expansive and well equipped. Highly recommend this to people who enjoy learning about food, cooking and local traditions. Great for singles (small groups, very social), couples and friends!!! PS…You will not need dinner afterwards!

I had so much fun doing this market tour and cooking class. Chef Jesus was super talented, kind, and knowledgeable, and made the experience so much fun for everyone. The market tour was super fun and we were able to try some local cheese and chocolate. We made multiple different dishes during the cooking that that were all delicious! Chef Jesus was able to make substitutions in dishes to fit everyone’s needs. 10/10 recommend!

We have yet to receive the recipes promised during class - instructor said "don't take time to write down the ingredients - I will email the recipes to you all after the class." That was 2 weeks ago. We really enjoyed the class and food was great - don't tell me this is your way of keeping the ingredients/recipes a secret?? for Pisco Sour, Ceviche, and beef dish!
Please forward! Diane and Jim

This was so much more than a cooking class—this was an experience! The tour of San Pedro Market was fascinating; Chef Jesus is very knowledgeable about Peruvian foods and their history within the culture. We had lots of questions, and he was able answer them all in detail. In the class, the foods and the drink we learned to make were all absolutely delicious. We had eaten dinner at a highly acclaimed restaurant the night before, and we all agreed the foods we prepared with Chef Jesus were better than what we had at that restaurant. This class was a highlight of our stay in Cusco, and I would not hesitate to recommend it!

Our session was lead by Ernesto. He provided a fantastic experience all the way through from the guided tour through San Pedro market, taste testing various items to all the deliciousness in the kitchen! We was great at double checking food restrictions and was attentive throughout! All the food was absolutely amazing! Would definitely recommend!

On return to Cusco from Machu Picchu my wife and I took this class with Jesus. We had a nice walk around the central Cusco and the food market. Jesus is very knowledgeable about his city as well as being a skillful chef. We learned a lot about the local cuisine, had fun during the class and enjoyed the delicious food jointly prepared.

This cooking class was perfect from start to finish. Jesus showed us around the market and we tried various foods along stands while shopping the groceries for the food we were going to cook. He was very knowledgeable about all the different fruits and vegetables that are unique to Peru and explained them in the context of Peruvian culture and cuisine.
The kitchen studio where the class took place was very beautiful, spacious (important! Not all classes are like this) and clean. Jesus was very patient, clear and easy to follow during the classes. He is a very funny and witty guy, and knows how to create a fun & collaborative atmosphere among the people attending the class.
The food itself was incredible tasty and Jesus took special care to explain how to recreate each dish at home even when certain ingredients are not available in your home country. He also sends the recipes to your email at the end of the class.
All in all, I highly recommend this class. There are many cooking class options in Cusco, but from what I read and my experience with Jesus this class is definitely the best option!

We loved this cooking couse from the first moment. The market tour was very informative, so many unknown fruits to try. The cooking was fun and relaxing, Dael is great. I recommend it for anyone who is in Cusco, to taste local ingredients and know about peruvian cooking habits.

Jesús began our experience with a very informative and interactive market tour. His manner is engaging and friendly and his knowledge and delivery is professional. He led us back to the professional cooking studio which was clean and beautifully presented. He explained each step of our experience, thoroughly, and provided an atmosphere of fun and celebration while also teaching us the history of the dishes we made and the ways the ingredients could be used in other Peruvian dishes. My husband and I chose to do this on our last day in Cusco after almost 2 weeks in the country for our honeymoon. We can’t wait to share our experiences with friends and family when we return to the USA by cooking an authentic Peruvian meal with Pisco Sours, of course.
