Tierras Vivas helped turn a very unfortunate situation into a great one. My girlfriend and I planned to do the 4 day Inca trail tour, and we paid 50% up front, but then upon landing in Peru, my girlfriend was deported back to the US because her passport expires in 5 months, rather than the required 6. Rafael at Tierras Vivas was great, and very patient with me, giving me refund options or alternate itineraries that would work for me as a now unfortunately solo traveler. We ended up deciding the 2-day Inca trail would be best. It was also funny, Tierras Vivas sent Gatorade in my guide and my snackpacks because I had asked if I could run part of the Inca Trail (I'm training for an Ironman). I was paired with a guide named Wilian who was AWESOME! Such a nice and knowledgable guy. While I very much missed my girlfriend, he was great company as he and I did the 2 day Inca Trail together. He knew SO much about Incan history (including dates, names, major events, cultural myths, stories, etc) as well as Peruvian fauna and flora, and taught me a lot about all of this. He spoke fluent English (and other languages) but since I was trying to learn Spanish, he would speak whichever language I wanted to speak at the time. When we arrived at Machu Picchu from the Inca trail, even though our ticket was for the next morning, Wilian thought the weather might not be good, so he snuck me in for a picture and early tour! We got incredible pictures of Machu Picchu, and he gave me an awesome tour. I am so grateful for this because he was right about the weather - when we came back the next morning, there was so much mist, we literally couldn't see Machu Picchu at all, and I wouldn't have gotten a picture if he hadn't snuck me in the day before. In other words, Wilian the THE BEST Inca Trail/Machu Picchu guide out there. I met some other tourists on the trail (with other guides) who didn't end up getting a picture themselves at Machu Picchu for this reason. Wilian was a lot of fun - his parents are coca farmers so he gave me a bunch of fresh coca leaves and taught me how to chew them properly. Great guy, would recommend him to other travelers! This guy deserves a raise @Tierras Vivas!

My friend and I did the 2 day Inca Trail and it was a beautiful experience. The agency (Rafael) made he answered all of our questions and even arranged for us to meet our tour guide Bernabe the night before to go over all the logistics.

Bernabe, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all the history and he made sure we felt so comfortable during the entire journey. It felt like hiking with a friend. He even suggested ideal places for pictures and was very patient with us.

The agency took care of all the train tickets, entrance, permits etc. and they adjusted things based on our asks. I was pleasantly surprised by their flexibility!

We booked the short Inca Trail (2 days/1 night) with Tierras Vivas and luckily found the right one for us among the many providers. We were assigned Efraín as our guide, and we could not have been happier about him.
The night before, quite spontaneously because of our travel plans, he gave us a professional briefing.
The hike on the Inca Trail was an absolute highlight for us thanks to Efraín. He impressed us with his incredible knowledge not only about the Inca culture, but also about animals and plants. He really was able to answer every single question we had. What made the experience even more authentic for us was that he himself is of quechua origin and could therefore bring the spirit to life for us. He was keen for us to enjoy the trail, understand the culture and history, and adapted to us in his rhythm so we did not have to hurry. He even shared a ritual with us that touched us deeply. His warm nature made the two days very enjoyable for us.
We were lucky that Efraín was so well structured and networked, because due to a strike we really needed his help with transport. This he organised for us with above and beyond dedication, time and a sense of responsibility.
We are very grateful for Efraín's effort and this unique experience, which we will never forget. We can recommend Tierras Vivas and Efraín 100%.

If you’re going to Machu Picchu and can handle some hiking, I definitely recommend doing an Inca Trail tour! The 2-day tour is shortened, less strenuous, and still provides a good experience with the Inca Trail. The mountains are absolutely breathtaking.

Our guide Efrain was super knowledgeable about all of the Inca and Machu Picchu history, and it was awesome learning about it as we passed by all the sites. The first day hike starts from around 8am and ends around 4:30pm (depends how fast you go of course), but the actual hike doesn’t take that long. A lot of the time was spent learning history and taking photos.

Overall, we are really impressed by the kindness and attentiveness by the tour guide, porters, and cooks! The meals were delicious and we felt very taken care of. Don’t forget to tip! :)

The entire excursion was wonderful. Pickup coordination was clearly explained, with all tickets handled for us at every step of the journey. The trail was incredible. We had amazing weather for some truly breathtaking views, and our tour guide Daniel was 100% pure quality. Super knowledgeable about the trail and about Macchu Picchu, able to answer every question we had.

Would totally recommend for folks who want to go slightly beyond the basic Macchu Picchu experience, as the ruins you see on the first day's hike are just as breathtaking.

My partner and I had an amazing experience with Tierras Vivas. Their website have a lot of relevant information related to the different tour options. Before deciding on the tour, we got in touch with them by e-mail and whatsapp. Edwin was the one who was in touch with us. He always answered our messages promptly. The pick-up at the airport in Cuzco went smoothly and the driver was really nice telling us a bit about the city along the way. One day before our tour, our tour guide Elvis met with us to explain the details of the trek, schedule, and further preparations. On the first day of our tour, Edgar the driver came to pick us up with Elvis. The ride went well and we got to the train station way before our departure which allowed us time to drink something warm. During the hiking, Elvis was really patient with us and allowed us time to rest along the way. He has great knowledge about the area and told us a lot about the local history and his experiences. The local hotel that we stayed in was comfortable and clean. We had a great rest in Machu Picchu Pueblo. The visit to Machu Picchu was spectacular. Elvis guided us throughout the visit and was very attentive to our questions. We were really happy with their services and appreciate their work. As a final note, we really recommend their tours. We will definitely be back for more adventures with them.

Tierras Vivas created the most amazing, memorable, and life-changing experience to help us celebrate our final trip with our teenage son before he leaves the home!! We loved meeting with Tierras Vivas briefly a day prior to the trip to get the details about what we would and wouldn't need on the trip and what special rules there were on the trail and at Machu Picchu!

Our tour guide, Alibeths, was fabulous! She has a super positive attitude and really knows her Incan history! All of this came in handy on our 1st day: the scenic Inca Trail hike! The bus ride was uneventful. The train ride was so beautiful through the mountains. On our hike, the views and the altitude were absolutely breathtaking! It was very helpful to have a tour guide who was truly focused on our experience. We were able to travel at our pace and have as structured of an experience as we wanted.

Alibeths chose a perfect place for dinner in the quaint and charming Aguas Calientes, where we also stayed overnight. The meal and the hotel were included in the price which we absolutely loved. That way we only had to worry about picking a good tour company, and they handled the rest!!

We stayed at a beautiful, clean hotel which had breakfast included. The hotel had beautiful views along the river and tucked in the mountains!

Our second day was spent at Machu Picchu! What else is there to say?? Having Alibeths as a guide really helped us a lot, because there are so many rules and potential dangers that we didn't even have to worry about. We were able to focus fully on Machu Picchu and the unique history behind one of the 7 wonders of the world!

We fully, whole-heartedly recommend Tierras Vivas for this amazing tour. We also recommend Alibeths as a guide. The guide element is super important, because your guide can really set the tone for your entire trip. Alibeths is smart, knowledgable, truly loves the outdoors, and really set the tone for our amazing trip!!

We met with Alibeths before the trip to get all the details which worked great. On the morning of the start we met on time and made our way by train to the start of the 2 day Inca trail. We got a nice bag of snacks and lunch for the trail. The trail was beautiful, hard, and rewarding all in one! We got very lucky in rainy season to have beautiful weather for the trail and Machu Picchu. It was nice to have TV handle all our tickets and arrangements. We arrived late enough on the first day to MP that there were no crowds and then early enough the next day to avoid crowds also. Worked great. Alibeth was informative, fun, and went at a great pace. Highly recommend this company and 2 day trip!

Efrain was a very patient and knowledgeable guide who can read the group well. Intermittently cloudy as expected during rainy season, but managed to get great views and close up to llamas without significant crowds. Hike is overall very manageable - only intermittently strenuous at some steep staircases

We had an amazing experience booking with Tierras Vivas and were lucky enough to get our tour guide, Efraim, all to ourselves. Efrain was fantastic! Prior to our 2 day trek, he met us at the hotel and gave us the details for our hike, went over what to bring, etc. Efrain was very good about keeping everything on schedule but also gave us plenty of time to rest during the hike if he saw that we needed it. We were impressed with Efrain’s positive attitude, love for what he does and knowledge of history, landscapes and Machu Picchu itself.
