My daughter and I booked this Rainbow Mountain tour just yesterday, and everything went exactly as planned. From start to finish, the communication was excellent, both before and during the tour. Our guide, Alex, was truly exceptional—knowledgeable, patient, and always ready to assist. We had mixed expectations based on some of the reviews we read beforehand, but I can confidently say that Rainbow Mountain did not disappoint! The hike is no joke at this altitude, and while it was definitely a challenge, the views at the top were absolutely breathtaking and made every step worth it. I think we got really lucky with the weather (its rainy season). Since I’ve been battling a head cold, we decided to rent horses for most of the ascent—a great option if you’re concerned about the altitude. However, you do still have to hike the last 1,000 feet of elevation, and at 16,500 feet, the oxygen is scarce! Alex was incredibly helpful during this final stretch and even guided us in staging some amazing photos to capture this once-in-a-lifetime experience with my daughter. Our tour included pickup at our Airbnb, round-trip transportation, breakfast, lunch, and horse rental for the way up (we opted to hike down). The overall cost was very reasonable, and the experience was well-organized from start to finish. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering Rainbow Mountain, and if you can, ask for Alex! His guidance made the experience even more memorable. ✅ Tips for Future Travelers: • Altitude is real! Take your time, hydrate, and consider coca tea or altitude medication. • Dress in layers. Mornings are freezing, but you’ll warm up while hiking. • Horse rental is worth it if you’re not feeling 100% or have concerns with mobility. • The last section is tough, but don’t give up—the views are worth it! This was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

Everything was great! Well organized, on time, good transportation, good food on the way. And the Lagoon is awesome. And especially great guidance by “Heber Forever”! Fun, knowlegeable and great photographer! Highly recommended.

An unforgettable experience! The views from 5000 meters were simply stunning, even Seven Colors Mountain was covered in snow it was magical. Edwin, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. A small tip: don’t forget to bring sunglasses – I didn’t, and ended up with severe eye pain the next day.

Our friend booked this tour the day we arrived in Cusco. It was fantastic value and we saw much more than the much more expensive tour we were offered by our holiday company. Christian our guide was excellent. We were picked up in the Plaza de Armas and there were six people in total on our tour. We visited an interesting weaving centre, four of the major archaeological Inca and pre Inca sites plus a salt mine. We had lunch included. It was a long day (12 hours), fairly short distances on a comfortable mini bus between the sites. Would give this tour 5 star plus thanks to Christian.

Long but very full day out in the sacred valley. We visited four archeological sites, the salt mines and learnt about spinning / weaving alpaca wool. Christian is a great guide, allowing us plenty of time at each stop and providing loads of local knowledge. Recommended, but expect to be tired at the end.

My adventure to the Rainbow Mountain in Vinicunca was incredible. Our guide, Ever, was excellent; his energy and enthusiasm made the experience even more special. I loved that the van was very clean and that the information about our arrival and departure times was always clear. We were provided with blankets for the journey from Cusco to Vinicunca, which was a very thoughtful touch. Both breakfast and lunch were very good, with a clean and well-organized environment. The mountain was spectacular, and we were lucky to have excellent weather. An unforgettable experience!

Splendid views, great thanks to the tour guide Kris, he is very knowledgeable and friendly. Though a little rainy, the attractions are still stunning.

I had the best experience ever, if I never had Edwin who was there to help me and encourage me I don't think I would have made it quite honestly. I think that Edwin is the best tour guide I have ever had and I have been travelling for over 20 yrs... thank you to Edwin for being so amazing and the best damn guide ever in the world!

Our guide Pablo was amazing he helped my family and I. I wasn’t able to make it all the way up the mountain because of the altitude but Pablo was amazing every step of the way. I highly recommend going just know the altitude is rough. I recommend taking a horse.

Even tho the weather didn’t cooperate this day trip to rainbow mountain was a lot of fun. It was well organized and Alex was a great guide. He stayed back with the slower hikers to help out but encouraged those of us who wanted to get to the top to go for it. But he also gave good instructions and warnings about the altitude. I appreciated the information but even more so the freedom to go at my own pace. I have taken two hikes with this company and would choose to go with them again. Even the info day before was helpful.

As I was on my first solo trip to Peru, doing this excursion was at the top of my list! For all the accommodations and transportation the price is a great deal. Our tour guide (Super Wally) was responsive, helpful and overall wonderful. He communicated with us the whole time about our itinerary and the history of Rainbow mountain. He made sure no one was left behind on the trek and checked in numerous times to ensure I and others were okay. The views were breathtaking both literally and figuratively if you're not used to high altitudes but absolutely worth it!! I would recommend both Wally and Chullos Travel Peru if you plan on visiting Peru! 😁

Super Wally is a great no nonsense guide. Helps you with the essentials and makes sure you can enjoy the experience to the fullest. Highly recommend visiting both rainbow mountain and red valley. Rainbow mountain was a bit misty with us, but red valley made more than up for it
