About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- dominykab9670 contributionsPerfect experience!Everything was well organised! The guide Francisco was very friendly and helpful:) We did have a lot of questions but the Tour Operator and the guide answered to all of our questionsWritten 19 December 2024
- Glen W0 contributionsUnforgettable 5 Day Patagonia W Trek: Exceptional Guide and Crew!My wife and I had an unforgettable experience on the Patagonia W Trek over 5 days! Our main guide, Francisco, was truly exceptional—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the region. He made sure we got the most out of every moment. The amazing team who cooked for us and set up our tents went above and beyond, providing delicious meals and making sure we were comfortable every night. This trek was the adventure of a lifetime, and we couldn't have asked for a better crew to make it happen. Highly recommend!Written 22 October 2024
- amirsF4085NC0 contributionsI’m lucky I found themMy first time in South America traveling alone, I was lost between all the different options for the tours online. I came on UnuRaymi’s website by accident and wrote to them on WhatsApp. They were incredibly responsive and took the time to structure the perfect tour for me. Starting at Lima, all the way to Cusco, the rainbow mountain, the amazon jungle and Machu Picchu, I felt very well taken care of and I would recommend them to anyone trying to travel to Peru !Written 9 October 2024
- UKglobal0 contributionsTerrible with organiser. He is a misogynist, and game being played.Unfortunately I have been subjected to asking for more money whilst on tour, then the last 5 days cancelled and a refusal to refund, hiding behind Ts & CS when they could not deliver as promised and asked me to cancel and suggested a refund. Then refused ANY refund. Strange behaviours, poor communications so guys on ground telling me different information to James in office, then gaslighting and criticising me in messages as a single woman travelling alone made it a stressful, expensive and unpleasant experience, which is sad. And an extremely expensive one per day. I could have enjoyed a luxury and pleasant experience instead, two nights were camping and freezing cold water which I had not signed up for, so it’s back to self organised travel for me. This was a very unpleasant and expensive lesson learnt.Written 9 September 2024
- P3037MZelizabetha0 contributionsDisappointing Communication and Customer ServiceI was excited to book my tour of Bolivia after reading Unu Raymi’s website and the positive reviews here. In retrospect, I wish I had heeded the warnings of those who mentioned poor communication. Leading up to my trip there was very little communication regarding the specifics for my trip, and less than 24 hours before my scheduled departure, I got a message saying that my departure would now be from a different city and on an overnight bus - resulting in an unused plane ticket and hotel room and a form of transportation that I did not feel comfortable taking as a solo female traveler. Once in Uyuni, I was placed with a Spanish-speaking tour guide and group instead of an English-speaking one. When I asked if I would have English-speaking guides at my next stops, I was told it was difficult to find English-speaking guides in Bolivia - which is why I hired a tour company in the first place. The second half of the tour improved. I ended up joining a tour group from G Adventures/Big Deal Tours in Potosi and had a lovely guide in Sucre - all in English as originally advertised. During the trip and when I returned home, I tried to communicate my frustrations and disappointment, but no one ever took ownership for the poor customer service. A simple apology would have gone long way, but instead I felt gaslit, and I was told that they “were dealing with several departures that week and unfortunately ran out of time to call [me] to confirm the details.” In the end, my overall experience did not align with what one would expect for the price point of this tour, and I cannot recommend their services for tours of Bolivia.Written 3 February 2024
- JoelM35470 contributionsTorres del Paine 'O' CircuitI booked the 8-day ‘O’ Circuit trek in Torres del Paine through Unu Raymi and completed the trek in late December 2023. The booking process prior to the trek was quite straightforward, and James was able to answer the various questions that I had. The trek itself was fantastic and I had an excellent team in Francisco (as my guide) and Teo (as the cook/porter) out on the trail. Francisco obviously knew the trail well, and in addition had very good knowledge about the plants we saw and was able to point out the names of the various mountains throughout the trek, as well as being very good at spotting the condors high above on several days. Teo did a superb job with the meals on the trek. He was able to accommodate my request for vegan food and I was amazed at the variety of the different meals he was able to prepare, including fresh vegetables at various times, and every meal tasted great. Overall it was a fantastic experience!Written 30 January 2024
- Ben_Connolly940 contributionsAn Unforgettable Peruvian Adventure with Unu Raymi ExpeditionsOur trip to Peru with Unu Raymi Expeditions was absolutely incredible. Everything was so well-organised by the team. Peru blew us away with its breathtaking and diverse landscapes, and we saw way more than we ever expected. There are too many excursions deserving of a special mention, but a highlight was spending Christmas with a local family on Amantani on Lake Titicaca. It was a unique and heartwarming experience that we'll always cherish. Machu Pichu, Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake etc., were all dreams come true, however, the team at Unu Raymi showed that there is so much more to see in Peru! Every day was an adventure. Each day, a local tour guide would pick us up and show us around. They were all amazing and we learned so much from them and about the country and its rich culture. A special mention must be made of Herbert, our guide for Machu Picchu. His expertise and passion for the site made our visit there all the more enjoyable. Behind the scenes the coordination was flawless. A huge thank you to James and Edwin for planning and organising everything. They really went above and beyond, especially considering my health issues before the trip and the fact that we were on our honeymoon! They made sure we got to see and do everything we wanted, and more. The whole team at Unu Raymi Expeditions made sure everything ran smoothly, from start to finish. They were always on time and made sure we didn't miss a thing. If you're into high-energy, action-packed adventures, we'd highly recommend Unu Raymi Expeditions. They made our trip to Peru the trip of our lives, and we will be choosing their services when we go and see the rest of South America in the years to come!Written 21 January 2024
- 64pjf0 contributionsPoor communication and planning, amazing staff that I will never forget.I want to make it perfectly clear that my low score is a reflection of the company, not the guide or staff (they were amazing, and more on them later). I specifically chose Unu Raymi because they stated an average of 8-10 miles of hiking per day, as opposed to other companies that stated 11-18-25 miles per day. We hiked 11 miles the second day, 11 miles the fourth day (the hardest day), followed by 18.6 miles after the hardest day. I expressed my concern to the guide at our first meeting and again during the trip, knowing that it was not his fault. I ended up doing a layover day (at 10 miles) at my own expense, renting a tent, sleeping bag, and buying meals, taking a boat and bus to rejoin my friend the following day so we could complete the last day hike to the towers together (total cost approximately $100). The guide did not condone my decision, but I am a very experienced traveler and backpacker, and felt completely comfortable doing this rather than end my trip because it was poorly planned. As a result of the long day, neither me or my friend had an opportunity to go up the French Valley; one of the most famous and spectacular parts of the trek. I was also told in emails that we would be in refugios in the front country, and three nights in tents in the back country where there are no refugios. Instead we only had two nights in refugios, and only the last two nights of the trip. The sleeping bags were terrible. My friend was warm, but every day she woke up covered in feathers because the bag was in such poor shape. I was given a poly-fill bag that was not warm at all; I had a silk bag liner, but it was not enough and I ended up using my friend's spare camping blanket. I would have brought my very nice down sleeping bag if I had known, and regret not thinking of it beforehand (and it would have been a much lighter carry for the porter!!). The staff are AMAZING. I thought we were joining a group, but it turned out we were a private trek! The guide was professional, highly qualified, incredibly helpful, and was hyper-focused on our safety and enjoyment the entire time. Our porter did not speak English, but was also overqualified (highly skilled climber) for this job, and great to be around. We even had a cook (what?!?!), which blew us away because we thought we were going to be eating in refugios (there is excellent food service even in the tent-only areas. His cooking spoiled us completely, and there was always more than enough to eat.Written 26 December 2023
- 748angelay0 contributionsGreat guides!Although the organisation is a bit messy, it was eventually a great experience in Patagonia. James has been helpful when there’re any unclarity or questions. The O trek and el chalten have so much to give. The guides are fantastic. They do all they can to make sure I’m safe but also they’re a lot of fun!Written 16 December 2023
- borisz1630 contributionsThe best place to clear your mind.As alway there are some options where to go and what to do. After a brief moment of thinking I made up my mind and with my spouse blessing booked the Ausangate Trekking Tour. I loved it. Whats not to love about it? The mountains peaks, the lakes and the waterfalls, the unusual flora and fauna… It is difficult I have to assure you to fight the altitude sickness, but it’s manageable and with the proper care it passes soon. Every step and angle is different and the entire place is a pure magic. I have met multiple good people on my way. The organizer Lider and my guide Javier are forever in my heart. Thank you, thank you, and once again thank you.Written 23 October 2023
- Meander462997882520 contributionsPeru Adventure with Unu RaymiUnu Raymi tours helped me to organize a three week holiday in Peru. This allowed me to visit many of the major sites of the country but with flexibility to add a few extra places to my itinerary. The planning was excellent in that all the tours, transfers and hotel arrangements were very smooth and the various contacts were very helpful, considerate and professional. Although moving round Peru and seeing all the fabulous sites made for a fast paced holiday, with a lot of travel, it was worth it as there is so much to see. The hotel, food and tour standards seemed very good value for money within the budget, and I received a lot of additional guidance with planning my own aspects of the trip, and support when an unexpected medical issue arose. The website has some interesting information and guidance which helped me to plan accordingly- I think this could be elaborated on, although James was very helpful in helping me to plan the holiday including travel and packing considerations. Overall it was a very memorable few weeks for me.Written 2 August 2023
- 891binishm0 contributionsSouth Peru: Backpacker Special - 18 DaysWe had an amazing time in Peru! We booked the 18 days backpacker special tour across South Peru, and the whole trip, from accommodation to transport, was incredibly well organised. Every location we visited was beautiful, had great food, and the tour guides were all very friendly and informative. The Ausangate trek was also well planned, and the horsemen and cook made a huge difference. James and Edwin would also check in with us on a regular basis and keep us updated on the itinerary. Definitely an incredible once in a lifetime experience!Written 13 July 2023
- samsamsambi0 contributionsWinter W trekI've just finished the winter W trek booked booked with unu raymi. The whole experience was so wonderful- amazing scenery lead by the best guide, Andres and porter, Victor. They were instrumental to the trip being a truly special once in a lifetime experience. From knowing all the best spots and suggestions to give us the best hiking journey, to cooking delicious meals and making sure we were well fed and looked after at all times, Andres went above and beyond in order to give us a special experience. Couldn't have asked for a better, more memorable trip. Highly highly recommend this tour and many thanks to Andres. :)Written 3 June 2023
- K5694PRwilliamm0 contributionsO-Trek at Torres del Paine with Unu RaymiA great trek in Chile through the beautiful Torres del Paine National Park over 8 days organized by Unu Raymi Expeditions. 5 new-to-each-other trekkers (US, AUS, CA) led by Guide Andres and supported by a great quartet of porters. Our group was blessed with beautiful weather and magnificent natural wonder of mountains glaciers and forests throughout the trek. Even the condors came out to watch us. Thanks to James for coordinating the trek and being very responsive during my preparations and a big thanks to Andres for his work in Puerto Natales and along the trail in Torres del Paine; keeping an eye on us all and making all the last minute items seem easy.Written 3 April 2023
- spencern5530 contributionsO Trek - Incredible!I had a fantastic eight day trek in the Torres del Paine national park. James through his contacts in Chilean Patagonia was able to get me on the coveted "O" Trek with only a months notice (other trekkers at the campsites had booked in August or earlier). I keep describing the Trek to friends and family as hard but incredible! The local guides and porters were all friendly and made the experience quite incredible. The trip was the reset that I needed at the end of 2022 and am thankful to Unu Raymi Expeditions for making it happen!Written 12 January 2023

This tour was one of the best adventures I had in my life. The guides Eduardo and Herman are kind, knowledgeable, and were always checking up on me since we were at 16,000+ altitude. They know the terrain very well and we’re giving me history and geography lessons on the trail. We shared many laughs and stories together. Our mountain cook Jaime cooked delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and was always offering me a hot beverage. Pedro our horseman always had my tent ready at the next camp! The sites on and around Ausangate are awe inspiring. There are way less trekkers on this trail than the others, so if you are looking for peace and calm, this is the trek to be on. We had to start very early some days and the. reward was seeing the crimson sky and sunrise. Overall this was a thrilling trek, one that tested my limits, and left me humbled and helped me define who I am. Totally recommend it to any adventure seekers!
