About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 416khristinem0 contributionsIt’s worth doing it for the experience! We had a very rare experience since it snowed on the day we went. It was still fun but it was cold! We didn’t see the different colors of Rainbow Mtn but it’s unique to have pictures of the snow covered terrain. Ours guides Luis and Alfredo were super nice!! The breakfast buffet was okay but lunch was great! The hike is not that hard as long as you pace yourself.Written 19 November 2024

- Aghia0070 contributionsRainbow Mountains - Honest ReviewHad a great day out in the Rainbow Mountains organized by Machu Pich Reservations. Even though it is not a long trek up to the top, being over 5000m high you will feel the effects of the lack of oxygen. As long as you take it nice and easy, drink plenty of water you will do it, you don’t even need trekking boots, just a decent pair of trainers will do At the top the weather can change suddenly as we found out, wind, then scattered shower followed by hailstones so make sure you have a warm fleece and waterproof jacket with you at all times. If you think you are going to struggle or have just come into Cusco and not had a chance to aclimatise then recommend that you let your guide get you a horse to take you up three quarters of the way, that way you still get to experience walking the last bit whilst safeguarding your health. Reason why I am saying is that because in our group, one couple were rushed to hospital in an ambulance due to the altitude and then whilst on the way down a young girl collapsed in the back of our van and we had to get her out and giver her oxygen, thanks Shep. Machu Pichu Reservations can you make sure that you remove used oxygen bottles as the first one we used was empty, second one nearly empty, luckly the third one was full.Written 6 November 2024
- adrenalinejunkie0070 contributionsRecommended!Took a tour with this company after reading other recommendations here, and do not regret it. We heard horror stories about other tour operators and feared the worst, but thankfully wasn't the case with this company. Both breakfast and lunch options were ample and delicious (though I'd be careful with eating too much for breakfast given the altitude and hike to follow). Both the driver and Anibal knew what they were doing and ensured we were taken care of at all times. I myself couldn't do the hike myself after messing up my knee in Macchu Picchu days before, and Anibal helped me secure a horseback ride to and from the mountain. (Side note--that was a great option if you can't do the full hike. They drop you off sufficiently far enough for you to brave the altitude and part of the hike so it's not "cheating".) We also got to the mountain early enough to beat crowds, which is helpful. Would definitely trust this experience with them again.Written 30 October 2024

- AnnabelleNYC0 contributionsMagnificentI am not sure if this was the same tour I took from Lllas Inn where I was stayed. Absolutely fantasitc tour, they will pick you up at the hotel provide a blanket and two meals. Okay I speak very little spanish but the main guide Christian ( I hope the name is right:):) He specially translated for me in English and always helped me especially I was almost given up few times :):) He gave me an encouragement to go on so I did. He even helped me by hands . He took my photo that is the thing when you travel alone nobody would help to take my photo but yes if you asked then they will .Very friendly comfortable tour. On top of that it is worth clibing up all the way up to see this BEAUTIFUL NATURE. You deserved to see a beautiful earth because of our earth has been changing due to dlimate changing so better go book this one day tour and make friends . I made many friends even I could not make communicates but with heart!! It's a beautiful thing. Thank you Christian Thank you Monica Thank you to all!!Written 28 September 2024

- Katy C0 contributionsRainbow Mountain - Worth the hike!Rainbow Mountain is a must see in Peru! Never experienced anything like it. The hike is not for the faint of heart, but the views at the top were breathtaking and so worth the trek up! Anibal was an excellent tour guide and made the trip that much better! Highly recommend!Written 26 September 2024

- CemItem0 contributionsNice views, less oxygen, horrible food, and a rough long rideWe booked this one a week before we took the trip. This was not an easy hike. The terrain was OK but the oxygen level got really low as you climbed higher. The temperature also significantly dropped at the top. It got really windy. When we started to hike, it was warm and sunny with a little breeze at the base. At the, it was light snow, hard winds and cold. You can take a horse up and down. It was our second day in Cusco and we had serious altitude sickness while coming down. Also, the road to Rainbow mountain was rough. It was a 3 hour drive from Cusco. The last 1 hour to the mountain is a dirt road with a lot of holes. The agencies stop at the same place for breakfast and lunch which were the most horrible food we had during our 20 day trip in Peru. I did not even touch it. So, if you are up to see some great scenery, don’t mind the horrible food, long rough drive, challenging hike, and have an extra day, go for it.Written 23 September 2024

The hike is amzing, We had to leave cusco very early with an small group, the breakfast and lunch are included but I would recommend to bring some snacks with you because there are not stores along the way.
The views are amazing and there are not a lot of groups along the way, is very shoking how the incas could select the places for their administrative centers!.
We reallly recommend to go to Waqrapukara and spacially with David! .
Thanks for the great experience!
