My friend and I did the hike to a waterfall at Nalsutale village, and then chose the option for Natadola Beach in the afternoon. Our driver was nice, but very hard to understand and didn't really give us much information. When we arrived at the village, we met our young guide who would take us to the waterfall. He was very quiet and didn't give us much information at all about plants, etc along way. Mostly he talked about a rugby tournament he was supposed to play in the next day and how he needed to buy new shoes. I felt like was trying to get us to buy shoes for him, which was a bit awkward. Overall the guide seemed like he had no interest in guiding us.

The hike the waterfall was very short, about 20 mins even though we were going slowly. I would have preferred a longer hike. The waterfall itself was ok, nothing too special. We went swimming which was nice.

Then back to the village for lunch. I thought we were supposed to get a tour of the village, learn about weaving, horseback ride, etc, but none of that happened. Instead we sat awkwardly on the porch (we didn't even go inside the house) waiting for the kava ceremony. When they did that, it was just us and guides, no other village members as I had experienced on other tours. Again, there were little explanation given and it was pretty awkward! Then lunch arrived. It was not bad, but nothing spectacular. At least it was plentiful!

Then our guide took us to Natadola beach, which was beautiful. However, there wasn't much time there. We ended up having the guide leave us at the beach and took a taxi to the bus stand later so we could stay longer.

Overall, this tour was just ok. The village visit and waterfall hike was pretty disappointing.

We choose this tour as we wanted our teenage children to experience Fijian culture, and see some of the beautiful hinterland scenery. We all really enjoyed this activity packed day. Our guides James & Lorraine were very knowledgeable and helpful.
As we were the only ones on tour we felt that it was very personalised, and that we were part of the village family for the day. What a privilege!
The waterfall hike was manageable, and the waters refreshing!
When we returned we participated in the traditional Kava ceremony, then a tasty Fijian lunch which had been lovingly prepared.
Afterwards we did the horse-riding / fishing option. These were relaxing activities that we were all able to participate in. Don't expect helmets or stirrups though. We were 'led' on the horse, rather than have control ourselves. Felt safe enough!
Late afternoon, we went to the mud springs and thermal pools. Because it was late in the day it wasn't crowded, so the experience felt special to us. Lots of fun!

I asked my girls what was the best part of the day and they replied 'all of it'!
