Absolutely epic
Sep 2021
Absolutely hands down best trip I've every taken. Our tour was phenomenal. Our guide, Evelyn and Samer were outstanding. We felt safe and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The hikes were challening and immensely rewarding. We ate like queens and kings and enjoyed our tour guides personal stories about resilience as we learned more about the history of Bosnia and Montenegro. Our lodging was very comfortable and the transportation was extremely reliable. Evelyn and Samer are extremely excellent guides. I would do this trip again in a heart beat.

Loved Via Dinarica Bosnia to Montenegro Hiking Tour
Sep 2021 • Friends
Having just completed the Via Dinarica Bosnia to Montenegro 8 days Hiking Tour, I feel words are inadequate to explain the beauty of the places and people I’ve experienced. Stunning wilderness and unforgettable mountains, forests, lakes, rivers. Humbling to be there. Warm, welcoming, resilient, generous, and authentic people. Deep gratitude to Evelin, Samer, Dragan, among others. May these places and people be well and cared for with love. Suggestion to guests - helps for one’s own enjoyment to be laid back, go with the flow, have a flexible diet. Helps to a hike a lot to train.

Epic!
Sep 2021 • Friends
We just completed the Via Dinarica trip from Sarajevo to Zabljak and it was truly epic. We are a well-traveled group of women and outdoor enthusiasts from Hawaii, Oregon, California, and Brazil and this trip was beyond impressive. Evelin was our guide and Samer was our driver for half of the trip. They were both incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating. We felt so safe with them! We are already talking about returning to do the the Croatia-Sarajevo Via Dinarica trip. Some of the hikes were certainly challenging and I recommend novice hikers prepare by hiking in your local area, 5-12 mile hikes.

Highlight of our honeymoon--Thank you Branko!
Aug 2019
Sutjeska National Park is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever hiked, and Branko and his team were the perfect guides. I was a little nervous beforehand about spending a whole day with strangers, but when I met Branko I realized it would be chill. He was the perfect amount of casual and friendly. I felt like my wife and I could spend some great time together in the mountains and that we got to hang out with cool new friends. I’ve done most of my hiking on the east coast of the US, and a little in Colorado and the southwest--but the beauty of Sutjeska was like nothing I’d ever experienced. I was really interested in the history of Yugoslavia and Bosnia too, and Bronco and Umhana generously shared their stories about growing up and getting by. Tasting the ajvar was another highlight--been craving that ever since.

Thank you very much for the time to write a review. And what a review! The key thing in everything is to love what you like. If that is the case, then the guests on our tours are treated not as guests, but as an old friend. I'm very glad you recognized that and hope that after this entire Covid19 situation is over we will see you back in Bosnia again. Take care and until some next time, All the best!

Th trip to Sutjeska National Park
Sep 2019
Did this tour in late September with Green Visions after booking online in advance. My overall experienced was very good and I enjoyed the trip. The disappointment was that I hardly saw any bears as I was hoping. This of course is not the fault of the tour organisers or the guide. My guide was Branco, a pleasant, chatty man who was obviously an expert hiker and aware of the impending weather changes which served us well. I had trouble finding him at the appointed place in the morning as he had not been able to put up the required 'Green Visions' sign. However he apologised profusely for this and made amends by picking me up from my hotel after I had given up hope of making the tour altogether. We got on very well and he proved to be a very responsible guide.

The last part of the drive was through rough road which did not bother me too much as I was expecting it. The trek to the lake is steep and is likely to test you a little and requires a moderate degree of physical fitness.

The lake is beautiful but a day trip does not allow sufficient time to enjoy it fully (no fault of the guide or Green Visions). I think in order to enjoy the lake to the full, an overnight stay may be better.

I would recommend this tour to those who are fond of the outdoors, do not mind a rough ride and are prepared to test their trekking skills a little. Experts at trekking and climbing will probably find it a piece of cake.

Branco is a great guide, a patient man. He looked after me very well.

Thank you for taking the time to review your trip to Sutjeska Park. It is not easy to come across the bears, but Branko is a true gem when it comes to telling stories about almost anything including the mountains and its people :) Have a great autumn and let us know when you plan to come back and will help you make the most out of your time here in Bosnia and Herzegovina. All the best!

Lovely scenery
Aug 2019 • Friends
The trip was very well organised - very punctual start, vehicle changes were seamless, planned stops plus the option to stop again if anyone requested to.

Our guide spoke excellent English and told us some facts about the park, as well as making us feel comfortable and having a great sense of humour. The guide also carried all the food throughout the hike including flasks of hot water for coffee and tea at lunch. He was very attentive, reminding everyone to drink plenty of water and apply suncream if needed.

While the route took us through beautiful and diverse scenery and was very well time, there were points at which we wish we could have spent longer, but did appreciate that the guide was sticking to a schedule. At the lake, we had one hour for lunch and swimming if we wished to, however by the time lunch was prepared and eaten we weren’t left with any time to swim. We would have preferred the tour to start a little earlier if it meant we could have spent 1.5-2 hours at the stunning Trnavacko lake.

Overall, we had a lovely day and would recommend the tour, just be aware that it is quite fast paced, but the guide does accommodate the group.

Unfortunately a disappointment
Jul 2019 • Solo
Unfortunately the tour didn’t meet the expectations. The group was not told practically anything neither about the flora and fauna of the area nor about the rich history. We did not visit the partisan monument and saw just a glimpse of the edge of the primeval forest. I regret to echo the review below on the route: it was not really a hike; we descended one path and took the same route up. Although the guide was really friendly and the driver did a good job, I would choose another tour company to go with to Sutjeska (or go without one) if I had another chance.

Dear Emmi, We're sorry that trip did not meet your expectations. Depending on the group pace we do visit (or not) main partisan monument at Tjentiste valley (which is not scheduled or mentioned in our trip description). The focus of this specific day tour from Sarajevo is the 10km long 4-hour hike to Trnovacko lake and back, enjoying an easy relaxing day in nature at National Park. All of our tours are created in a way to satisfy everybodies taste and maybe this tour was not the right choice or just simply "too easy" for you. Greeting from green Visions Team!

Great experience at Sutjeska National Park
Nov 2018 • Couples
Had a nice hike at Sutjeska National Park with Samer. November is offseason but after a few email correspondences, he agreed to take us up. We had a wonderful time. We saw the magnificent Zelengora, Maglic and the beautiful Trnovacko Lake. Scenery was beautiful. Samer was very thoughtful - he brought lunch for us (of assorted cheese, cured meat, dessert, etc) and carried it in his backpack all throughout the hike. Lunch by the lake sipping hot coffee in the cold weather while enriching ourselves with Samer’s knowledge of the lake, park and anecdotes of his experience during the war mid-way through the hike was absolutely enjoyable and enlightening. He was a very patient guide when some of us were a little slow. We managed to capture the beautiful scenery at two different settings - during the day and as the sun was setting. Credit to Samer for his driving skills as driving down the winding road from the mountaintop in the evening was super challenging. Would certainly recommend Samer and Green Visions to those who want to consider hiking as part of their holiday activity.

Dear Eileen, Thank you so much for your time to leave a review here at TripAdvisor. I'm more than glad you enjoyed the day to Sutjeska Park and Trnovacko lake. I know for sure, I did... :) Both of you have been lovely hiking companions and it was a real pleasure to hike together with you Sutjeska Park is one of the gems of our country and definitely place that should not be missed. Even in November, off season and when days are a bit shorter than in summer. However, this way we had opportunity to enjoy the Park in two different ways, as you mentioned. Hope we will see you back again and until some other time, All the best.

Not worth the money, did not see nor hear almost anything compared to other agencies in region.
Aug 2018 • Friends
I dont know even where to start... except, skip Green Visions and explore other options in the region. I have had other tours with much more skilled guides through other agencies. It was not worth 50e/person, I would have only give maybe 10e just to cover the expencies to the van drivers (they actually were the most skilled and really delivered it).

We did not basically hike at all - 5km in one-two hours through a basic path with 15 others is not considered a hike - we spent around 6 to 7 hours of the day in the van - most were without seat belts no matter how skilled the drivers were (also they knew the mountains as their own pockets, unlike the actual guides - the guide showed us one peak calling it Maglic (I knew it was not, and the driver corrected him that actually, that there is the Maglic...). They were not even aware about the fauna and flora in the area... I was a bit disappointed when I found out that I know so much more than they did... or were able to tell to other people on the trip.

We did not see Perucica primeval forest, nor the Skakavac waterwall. They did not explain or plan the route for us to see the lake from above and its symbolic shape of the heart nor did they mention anything related to it - No information about what-so-ever was given about abything... I basically tried to lit the spirit and explain what is so unique here to other people from abroad so that they know this would have been something totally amazing with other guides and other organization.. I also explained them a lot about the history, plants and other things related.

One of the oddest thigs was that we did not even visit the famous Sutjeska Memorial at Tjentiste (we stopped at the hotel next to it, and even though I asked if we could go to see it and hear ABOUT the one of the most important parts of the regions history connected to it, they said it is not possible to access it because of the rain? (I know it is, the land has slided above but we could have just walked in distance on the flat ground to see it fully - now it was just peeking behinf the trees).

Also the lunch was not a lunch, I have been used to have traditional bosnian mountain lunch with local specialities, be able to taste local cheeses, pitas, meats and discuss the food as well but this time, we all had to carry the food to all of us (the ones who discovered that a bag is needed on a hike) so we had a lot heavier bags than intended. Food break was super short, nothing was prepared on the site, it was all small pieces of white bread, some dried meat and sudzuk sausage, water and cream cheese and ajvar, a bit of chopped cucumber and peppers (I only got 3 pieces of cucumber and one pepper, one bread size of my palm and would have been reeeeally hungry without my own meal prepping.

Overall... Never again Green Visions. In their info they say no passport needed, but there in the middle of the forest they needed the passport numbers or local ID card numbers... not good. This felt like a light school trip with too big group, no one was talking, not even the guides. Some of us took a quick swim in the lake and that was the highlight in addition to the beautiful nature around us. Too bad it was not even close to what it could have been. If I would have been here without former experience about bosnian highlands... I would not come back again. I say it is a pitty, since the nature here is just umbelievable, history vivid, food so delivious and experiences worth having. Maybe for families who only seek something extra or people in hangower, this could be suitable - however, I believe that you could get so much more than this. I really dont feel it was worth the money or loosing that day in that van... not at all.

Dear Herminica, Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear the trip did not meet your expectations. We should have been more rigorous in making sure the trip was the right one for you and your friends. We've taken steps to minimize something like this happening in the future. We will reimburse you your 50EUR, and my colleague will be in touch with you shortly. Again we're sorry and hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Best, Thierry
