About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Maya P0 contributionsFood/Rakija tour with MeryWe did the Sarajevo gourmet food/rakija tour and our tour guide was Mery/Marium This tour has amazing food and rakija included, as well as a nice walk through the major areas of Sarajevo such as the old town. It was nice to have our tour guide give us a bit of history behind Sarajevo and Bosnia. The Burak was my favourite meal, I personally love the meat and spinach, and each meal felt homemade and authentic. At our last food stop I tried some Hurmasice (Bosnian dessert biscuit soaked in syrup) and it was really good, one of my fav desserts. And then before your tour ends you have some rakija! All in all I give a 4/5. Just some feedback for our tour guide; I feel we would have enjoyed more conversation and knowledge about Bosnian history, food, culture, etc. I just felt like the tour fell a bit flat when it came to actually learning about things and being immersed in the tour. More talking and interesting conversation would have made this tour a 5/5, but I am really happy with the locations we visited and the food was good! Mery is a nice lady that is a newer tour guide, and I feel as with more time and feedback she will become better prepared for future tours. thank you 🇧🇦Written 26 August 2024
- coolman114500 contributionsGreat tour with incredible guideOur food, drink, and history tour of Sarajevo was an amazing experience, largely thanks to our guide, Ilma. Her historical knowledge of the city, intertwined with her personal stories of her family, made the tour both educational and enjoyable. The food was excellent, we received great recommendations, and learned a little Bosnian too! Ilma's warm personality and storytelling brought Sarajevo’s culture to life, making this tour an absolute must for anyone visiting the city.Written 8 August 2024
- Sylke L0 contributionsExcellent thorough historical and gastronomical food tour in Sarajevo!I’m from Florida, my husband is from Bosnia, and we needed to kill time before our next flight. Our tour guide Enes blew us away with a lively walking historical and traditional food tour! Even my Bosnian husband learned a lot of new information. Enes taught us about Yugoslavia, Ottoman Empire, Tito, the 90s siege, and so much more! If you’re a curious history buff and open minded person, you should definitely take this tour. You will eat enough and walk enough to make all those calories worth it! Enes is so charismatic and high energy, 10/10 would recommend.Written 16 July 2024
- Luke S0 contributionsLovely combination of food and history!Had a great tour of Sarajevo with our guide Lana, who was full of interesting facts about the local history, cuisine & culture. Food was fantastic and we felt we had an authentic tour of the city, which we thoroughly enjoyed!Written 11 April 2024

- V3833OPstevek0 contributionsGreat first day in sarajevohad a great tour on our first full day in sarajevo. my wife and i were the only ones who booked a tour that day (saturday may 27). we had a younger guy who i believe said he was giving his first tour. he was very knowledgeable about sarajevo and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing. he took us to a couple places that i'm sure we would not have found on our own. as we finished up with a couple of drinks we chatted about the rest of our trip we had planned, some of his future plans and just overall what was going on around the world. it was a great way to spend our first full afternoon in bosnia.Written 10 June 2023
- LaurenH26760 contributionsReally great city and local food tour of Sarajevo!Amazing tour!! Super interesting if you want to try traditional Bosnian food and hear about local culture and history at the same time! Lana was a fab guide, very knowledgeable and friendly - as was her colleague. It was very enjoyable and a perfect way to spend the afternoon. Would highly recommend!Written 8 May 2023
- citrusflyer120 contributionsInformative and tasty! We had a great time on our tour. You could find all the places we went to on the map yourself, but the information the guide gives is priceless. They are able to show you exactly what is good and unique and tell you about it as well as answer your questions. Definitely worth the price!Written 15 April 2023
- O8078CUstephaniek0 contributionsThe best!Vedad, our tour guide, was lovely, and we learned so much from him - about traditional Bosnian foods and history. We then had a special session with the owner of Balkantina about local products, wine, liquors and more.I highly recommend this tour for anyone new to Sarajevo - it was a great in-depth introduction to the city and its culture.Written 14 September 2022

- Mty-37730 contributionsA great way to get close to SarajevoThis is a lovely way to get closer to Sarajevo and its people. I really enjoyed strolling around the city's less touristy places, taking in the culture through traditional food. A perfect activity!Written 4 August 2022
- halacdenis0 contributionsIntimate Food TourMy girlfriend and I were trying to find my old high school when we stumbled upon Balkantina. What caught my eye was were the four letters B E E R. We went inside to do what we thought would be window shopping and left booking a tour with Lana. The next day when we arrived, Lana was waiting for us and we began our walk. We were given a tour that gave us a sense of what it means to buy and eat food in Sarajevo — we went to an outdoor food market housed in an old Austria-Hungarian building, ate fresh made pita, and then finished it off at an restaurant where all the food was pre made, but tasted like a home cooked meal. Lana was a delight, as she gave us deep backgrounds of the foods, and what it means to live in Sarajevo today. Do yourself a favor and book a tour! Amanda and DenisWritten 28 July 2022
- Navigator571789862900 contributionsIf you have time for only one tour, do this one!I’ve done many food tours across Europe, and this was one of my favorites. Sarajevo is an unexpectedly wonderful city with a rich and complex history. My guide Lana was knowledgeable about both food and Sarajevo/Bosnia history, and spoke wonderful English. She was able to clearly articulate thoughtful answers to all of my questions, food related and otherwise. The food was also great…be sure to go hungry. I highly recommend!Written 12 July 2022
- Ana P0 contributionsFun and delicious way to learn about Sarajevo!I had a fantastic time on this tour! We walked to several different markets, restaurants and historical points in Sarajevo to learn more about the food culture and history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and welcoming; it felt like hanging out with a friend for the afternoon! We got to sample different types of Bosnian pie, stuffed vegetables and other delicious items. The portions were meal-sized so come hungry and you will leave full of food and knowledge!Written 25 June 2022
- Angela R0 contributionsGreat food tour!Lana was an excellent guide who gave us a good blend of food knowledge and history. The food was very flavoursome (and substantial) and it allowed us to get an accurate insight into what and how the locals eat. I would highly recommend this tour.Written 8 June 2022

A Good way to start your stay in Sarajevo. You will see the city and get to know the history, but you will also go to rakija bars and drink! It felt like really getting to know the city and it's people.
