First stop on tour will be a short walk on the edge of Perućica forest. Perućica is one of the last primeval forests in Europe, at the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage. We will walk to a viewpoint overlooking the forest and admire the views on Skakavac waterfall as well as the rocky peaks of Maglić, Volujak and Zelengora high above. The hike itself follows the Postmans' route. This is the easiest trail that takes 34h to reach the peak, but it is not for those afraid of the heights. You need to be strong on your feet, and able to walk on hard terrain for prolonged period of time. The first part is very easy, slowly ascending through the forest on the trail that was used by partisans during the WWII to avoid the Nazi troops. Once we leave the forest, the mighty northern face of Maglić appears. We will enjoy the view while we walk on easy trail to the foot of the mountain. Stunning views on mountains in central Bosnia and Montenegro will make all our effort worthwhile.

        An unforgettable experience with Kenan!
Kenan is an outstanding guide with a big heart and a genuine passion for his country. From the very first moment, he immerses you in the unique charm of Bosnia, with its breathtaking landscapes and fascinating history (especially the snake one). The Lukomir Highland Village Hike was a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and nature. Kenan’s deep knowledge and warm personality made the experience even more enriching. The traditional Bosnian lunch was absolutely delicious, and the hike itself offered some of the most stunning views I’ve ever seen. Don’t hesitate—choose Kenan for your hike and no one else! He will make your trip unforgettable.

Best Hiking experience in my entire life
The tour was incredible and the different landscapes were absolutely breathtaking, thanks to the different spots where Kenan, our great guide brought us. Not only, he showed to us amazing sights throughout the way to the village but he also explained to us passionately the different things to know about nature, Bosnian culture and many others things. I highly recommend him if you want to have an amazing and interesting trip to Lukomir

Wonderful and exciting tour above the the canyon to Lukomir
We had a wonderful and exciting tour above the the canyon to Lukomir and back. Thanks to our great and passionate guide, Kenan, we were able to learn a lot about the history of the places, about Bosnian music and the flora and fauna of the place. We will never forget this tour! We will of course recommend the tour and our unforgettable guide to others.

        Great experience
We have had an absolutely delightful experience on the hike! Despite the rainy weather, we have had the chance to experience the breathtaking views and get to know about the history of the area as well as Bosnia and Sarajevo from our guide Kenan, who could not have done a better job!

Wonderful first time experience on via ferrata with one of the best guides!
Wonderful and fun experience! Having had 0 prior experience of outdoor climbing or via ferrata we opted to just do the Trebevic route. Huge thanks and shoutout to our great guide Kenan, the only Bosnian we met who actually laughed. As another reviewer mentioned, he struck the perfect balance of being both professional and humorous. At the beginning he made sure we were well-briefed and equipped before the climb. During the climb itself, he was patient with us complete noobs and gave advice about which holds to use, how to navigate certain tricky spots, etc. He constantly kept an eye on the whole group, so we didn't feel unsafe at any point even though we were pretty high up. He also showed us some native plants and explained their uses, and even picked up litter along the return trail -- bonus points for sustainable actions! Not to mention he made the logistics extremely convenient by arranging pickup and even adjusting the meeting time to accommodate our schedule (we had another tour in the afternoon). While the climb had some tricky spots and can be a little tiring, the Trebevic route is totally doable for beginners even if you're not too athletic -- you just need to be in decent physical shape and tackle the route slowly. However, good shoes or hiking books are a must. All worth it for the amazing experience (the sick views are a plus too)! We thoroughly enjoyed this activity and should we ever return to Sarajevo, we'd be open to trying the other routes too.

        Nature, culture and History. Perfection!
This was an amazing day from start to finish. Our guide Kenan could not have been better. He was informative and helpful throughout. He spoke so passionately about the nature, culture and history of this wonderful country that he clearly loves so much. The lunch in the village was lovely and they went above and beyond to help us as we were soaked to the skin when we arrived due to a sudden storm. View stunning and fascinating conversation.

Breathtaking sights on a trek to a very unique place
Really great hike through the mountains with gorgeous sights of many mountain peaks, rolling meadows, and breathtaking mountain valleys. We did the hike there and back, it was more challenging than we thought but our group of 6 with various hiking fitness levels got through with everyone enjoying it. The village was great to see and had delicious food. Kenan, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the region, the surrounding nature, and he paced the hike well for such a heterogenous hike.

        Amazing!!
It was an really good experience. Sometimes a little difficult but for doing Via Ferata for the first time, it was amazing. Me and my wife are very happy that we’ve done this tour and we would highly recommend it to anyone! Make sure you bring good climbing shoes and enough water.

        Incredible, unique experience
This was one of the most fantastic trips of my life. The hike itself was beautiful, with fabulous views over the varied landscape which surrounds you throughout. We even got lucky enough to see a murmuration of alpine chough at the peak. Kenan was an outstanding guide. Throughout the drive and hike I learned so much about local and national Bosnian culture and history thanks to his wealth of knowledge. He also kept us well informed about the various mountains and other trails around that we could see during the hike, and pointed out lots of edible (and some inedible) plants for us to try, like thyme, blueberries and wild apples to name a few. Visiting Lukomir itself was a very special experience. The locals were very pleasant, and the good mood by them all was infectious, no translation needed! The good they made for us was something I will dream of for years to come, it was simple but divine. I can't recommend this highly enough. Kenan put together an amazing trip for us, and I would urge anyone who wants to go on a beautiful hike with an incredibly knowledgeable and kind local guide to join this tour.

I went in Bosnia and Herzegovina between June and July 2024 with my friends, our guide Kenan was amazing, he told us about so many things about the country, the history, the people, religion, it was perfect. Stunning views at the end of the world
First of all hats off to Kenan. He's very knowledgeable about nature, history of Bosnia and mountaineering. His approach has a bit of interaction with the group which makes a bit more interesting as well because you're not always passive in the interactions. The views are stunning! So was the lunch at Lukomir village where we made a longer stop to eat and rest. If you're in Sarajevo don't hesitate to contact Kenan and see which tours are available, you won't regret it!

      It was an amazing experience.

Our guide Kenan was fantastic. He picked us up from Mostar at an affordable cost and was very kind throughout the trip.

The pacing was great, and we had plenty of time for breaks and to take pictures. Kenan is very knowledgeable about the terrain and the history of the land.

Kenan provided lunch for us and a goodie bag with all sorts of chocolates and energy bars.

We strongly recommend him for all your hiking needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This was the last of a series of hiking trips I did with Highlander Adventures. All of them were outstanding and memorable - Bosnia is a truly stunning country and you couldn’t have a better guide than Kenan. Not only does he have a native-speaker level of English, but he also possesses a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for both mountaineering and his country. He doesn’t rush the hikes, so I never felt exhausted (I have a tendency to hike at speed and my biggest takeaway from these trips is that you can accomplish far more by maintaining a steady pace). Kenan also has a talent for storytelling, which adds another element to the hikes - I came away having learned a lot about local history and folklore.

The Maglić hike was definitely a highlight - it’s a long day, but the hike isn’t overly demanding and you are rewarded with breath-taking views from the summit (it’s worth the trip just for the view down to the beautiful heart-shaped lake below). Although it isn’t a technical hike, I’m glad to have gone with an experienced guide - not only was it helpful for transport and navigation, but conditions can quickly change and the area is remote, so it is reassuring to be with someone trained in mountain rescue.

I couldn’t recommend these guys enough! If you’re interested in a multi-day trip, Prenj (where Kenan is part of the local mountaineering club) is another unmissable area!
