Beautiful Sights, Excellent Tour Guide
Oct 2019 • Solo
The company provides pick up and drop off from the hotel you stayed in, which is a bonus.
The 2 sights have incredible history and the architectures of the buildings are just amazing, both inside and out.
The tour guide, Miss Alexandra is very knowledgeable and she cares to explain about the history of each sight in detail. I think for a tourist, it is rather important as one can appreciate the significance and importance it has in the history of Bulgaria.
The driver is very good in his driving skill, making the entire journey very pleasant and safe.

Thank you Both.

Fantastic day trip, extremely knowledgeable guide, great value!
Sep 2019
We had the good luck of being guided by one of the company owners, Georgi Bozhinov, who is the most knowledgeable and charimastic guide we have come across in a long time.
We visited the Rila Monastery in a comfortable van with a/c along with a Dutch couple, then lunch, then Boyana church on the way back to Sofia. Georgi was really helpful and informative, but once in location and after giving you a well-informed explanation, he then gives you just the right amount of time to wander off and explore on your own, without being pushy or hurry you up to meet deadlines.
Both the Rila Monastery and Boyana church are well worth the visit, and thanks to Georgi's knowledge, the staff at Boyana are happy to stand aside while he provides the most brilliant interpretation about the church's paintings. You only wish he could explain a bit more, but the staff were really glowering at him to hurry up and get us out, as these are 15-min timed visits.
Among the obvious trip highlights of having visited two UNESCO World Heritage Sites on a day and having lunch on a beautiful riverside restaurant, the conversation with Georgi was well worthed as we learned the origins of the Cyrilic alphabet and how and why it split from the latin.
If you come to Sofia for only two days, spend one sightseeing the city centre, but the next one definetively take this tour - it will really make a memorable experience!

Excellent guide for our excursion
We truly enjoyed our day visiting the stunning church of Boyana and the impressive Rila Monastery. The snow made the scenery look even more beautiful than what I had seen on photos before travelling to Bulgaria. Having said this, what made our day epic was our guide Maria. She was very knowledgeable and interesting, passionate about sharing her culture and showing us around, very energetic, funny and friendly.

In addition to this excursion, the previous evening we also did the Sofia by night tour with traditional dinner show with the same company and guide (Maria) and it was also a really good experience. We tried some of the traditional Bulgarian dishes and we even danced with the local dancers and other visitors who held hands and danced in a circle (the traditional way)

Great visit to these must-see sites
Mar 2018 • Business
Having read previous reviews, we reconfirmed the tour by e-mail after booking through Viator. We received a courteous and prompt reply from Zelanos confirming the time of our hotel pick-up. We were picked up at the appointed time and taken first to Boyana Church and then to Rila Monastery. Afterwards we had a simple but delicious lunch of soup, chicken and potatoes. Our guide Ekaterina (aka Chimi) was thoroughly professional and had encyclopaedic knowledge of many subjects including Bulgarian history and religious art. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she really went the extra mile to make sure that we had a good time. Warmly recommended.
