About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- MrVMalta0 contributionsExcellent guideI will be honest from the start, I really wasn’t a fan of Nis, but this tour was regardless really good. Our guide was professional, friendly, provided us with lots of information and interesting facts and he made a long drive to Nis very enjoyable. I will use Bultrips again in near future!Written 26 January 2025
- connorl3360 contributionsLong Day but very funOur driver from Sofia to Skopje was very professional and experienced. Told us plenty of facts and knowledge about both Bulgaria and North Macedonia. When we arrived in Skopje our local guide was very nice and very professional. The whole trip felt very safe. I would totally recommend this trip to anyone who is in Sofia for a few days and enjoys Long Road Trips.Written 11 January 2025
- kostak8810 contributionsGreat full day trip from Sofia!!! Highly recommended. Our driver (Ilyam) and guide Lena were just brilliant. Both very friendly and helpful. Lena gave us lots of information about Skopje and the history of the country. We saw the old part of Skopje, the bridges, the Triumph, the North Macedonian Square and we visited Mother Teresa's museum. We had adequate time to wander around and explore the area.Written 1 January 2025
- ChrissyG1430 contributionsVery Uncomfortable RideThe tour itself was fine. The ride was excruciating. The driver was nice and friendly. Pickup was late and the driver blamed it on other guests not showing up on time. He spent a bit too much time fidgeting with his phone while driving. This made me uncomfortable as texting and driving is very unsafe. I spent 7.5 hours packed into a cramped van with another guest and I trying, unsuccessfully, not to sit on one another. By the time I was dropped off, I had severe cramps in my legs and lower back. The company needs to invest in larger vehicles or take fewer passengers. I would not recommend this tour. The transportation conditions are not worth it. Find another vendor.Written 30 December 2024
- jezmits0 contributionsA really fun experience!Excellently planned trip from the tour providers. They were very enthusiastic about teaching us about North Macedonian history and we had a great time! It’s a shame daylight hours were so little and we did not get much F&E time. My only slight negative was the driver who took us was driving really fast (in a very confident and generally safe way, mind) and that made me a little bit anxious.Written 13 December 2024
- lafayette19750 contributionsGreat dayExcellent trip and guides in Bulgaria and North Macedonia were both excellent. We really enjoyed our day and recommend doing it.Written 29 November 2024
- jlY5649LK0 contributionsExcellent tour to Thracian tombs from SofiaIt's exciting to see the Thracian tombs and rose museum. The tour guide Krasi is soooooo nice! He made the whole trip done smoothly and provided plenty of information. It's the best tour I've ever had! Highly recommended!Written 27 November 2024
- Kate Y0 contributionsWell beyond expectationsThis is one of the best day tours we have ever done. Excellent value for money. Daniel is an outstanding guide. Picked us up at our AirBnb address no problem. Ride was comfortable. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable on the history of Sofia which is no tall order as the history is complicated and highly nuanced. We visited plenty of historical ruins and places of worship - with plenty of time for a relaxing lunch and walk through the main shopping and restaurant mall. If we could give more than 5 stars we would! Highly recommend this trip!! You won’t be disappointed!!Written 25 November 2024
- tussinis0 contributions3 day motorbikes friends Beklemato, Arch of Freedom, Plovid, Bansko, Rila monastery and SofiaI have to say that it was definitely a success to find Adrian/Daniel and their business. It has been totally a success and a pleasant surprise to find trips-bg.com and use their motorcycle rental service. We are 5 friends who have been traveling once a year for 11 years to a different country each time. All five of us agreed that this trip to Bulgaria has been one of the best and It was basically thanks for finding Adrian/Daniel and his business which was totally a luck and a success. it is true that, nlike official rentals, they do not have their own workshop or shop like other official sites, but the motorcycles were really in excellent and optimal condition. And, above all, everything was very, very easy to organize with them, with a very good flow of contact. Also, the route and the recommendations that they proposed were excellent. It was basically 3 days of motorcycle riding and around 1000 kms. If anyone needs more information or suggestions, they can write to me at: tussini69@googlemail.comWritten 19 November 2024
- honorat_hm7040 contributionsAmazing experience! This tour was very amazing and I really enjoyed it. Our driver was very professional, friendly and pleasant. Our guide, Lena, in Skopje did a wonderful job. She provided us with insightful information about the city. Please note it’s four-hour drive both ways, 2-hour classic walking tour in Skopje and 2 hours free time. So be prepared for this long trip. The border crossing experience between Bulgaria and Macedonia was really smooth. I would recommend this tour to anyone who would like to visit North Macedonia while staying in Sofia.Written 12 November 2024
- ronaldcS942YZ0 contributionsNice day trip to SkopjeAlthough it was a long ride, we had a great guide with perfect English that kept it interesting with history, etc. Glad we visited Skopje, nice architecture.Written 12 November 2024
- amymY9915AZ0 contributionsFantastic guide & tourThe guide was fantastic, so knowledgeable about all the sights. Our tour had 4 plus the guide, so a great group size. We went to the fortress first, then the monastery so it would be quieter. That also gave us the maximum amount of free time in Plovdiv. The monastery is the 2nd largest and is very beautiful. The fortress has amazing views. Plovdiv was great and the guide covered all the key areas before we spent some free time. A great day trip to explore these sightsWritten 7 November 2024
- O6422TCandrews0 contributionsMasterclass in Thracian history and access to sites you’re unlikely to visit otherwise. Well worth the effort. This one is for the history & archeology fans… The things you want to know: Pick up was on time at our location, travel was in a comfortable vehicle and stops for stretching legs, toilets and refreshments were planned in so absolutely no need to worry about any of that. It is a long day but it is worth it… Our Guide: Hugely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his subject. Time passed quicker on route simply because of all the information he was able to impart. Spoke very good English so easy to understand and equally happy to take plenty of questions. Good luck asking him something about Bulgarian history he can’t answer! The Trip: The first stop is just a teaser and then on to the museum. Having the guide is essential, the artefacts in the museum are brought to life through the knowledge of the guide. Stopped for a quick bite and then on to the other tombs. These tombs were all unique but all fascinating and amazing giving an incredible insight into Thracian culture. Should I go? Well, if history is your thing, when else are you ever going to see and enter burial tombs from the 4th century BC? Or spend time with an expert in the history of Bulgaria or Thrace in particular? Book it now.Written 23 October 2024
- 624bcburton0 contributionsGreat day out in PlovdivThe guide arrived promptly at 8:30, we travelled in a small, but comfortable mini van as there was only one other person on the tour. The drive took a little over two hours with a short stop on the way to get snacks, stretch our legs. We went on a great walking tour around Plovdiv, with stops the see the stadium, theatre and one of the houses in the old town. We then had time to have lunch and wander on our own before heading to the fortress and monastery. Both were fascinating in different ways. The guide was friendly and professional and very knowledgeable.Written 23 October 2024
- 19kerryng0 contributionsWorth seeingDaniel the tour guide was great, making really interesting conversation providing up close stories of the politics and culture at play overtime. Definitely worth seeing the monument if you are interested in architecture, engineering or communism especially because it might not survive too much longer. It is a long drive though.Written 20 October 2024

What an amazing value tour, ÂŁ67.00 per adult for a days travel and site seeing. We were collected from our hotel by Maria, including her there were 7 of us in total in the minivan, a good number for a small tour.
First Maria flexed her local knowledge and we went to the Krushuna Waterfalls and timed it perfectly to miss the queues, we stayed here 30 or so minutes, which was more than enough time to enjoy and get some great photos.
The next stop was the massive Devetaki cave, again a short ish stop but plenty of time to explore and take in the sights.
From there we went to the covered bridge and a little look around Lovech, followed by stopping off for food (which like most things in Bulgaria is insanely cheap) and a walk up to the Fortress, where we had the company of a dog, took some photos and did some local dancing (me with the timing of a broken clock).
The tour complete we were dropped off back at our hotel, a fantastic day had by all, a great guide, chatty fellow travellers, fantastic sights and even the weather was on our side.
If you have a spare day this tour should be very high on your list of things to do, ridiculous value for money, go for it

Visited both, the caves are inhabited by bats and you can smell, acrid smell that does not distract from the magic of the place, four holes in the ceiling that let the light filter through. They were used to shoot Mission Impossible with Stallone. Inside there are installations of small balanced stones and large circles on the ground, perhaps in the past there were mines. The falls require an uphill walk in a beautiful forest, molto.suggestive and definitely worth visiting

A really unique look at Bulgaria’s countryside with a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. We learned so much, not just about the places that we visited, but about Bulgarian history as a whole. Nothing was too much for our guide (Rosen) and he was able to share so many interesting facts with us - from the way wine and cheese is produced in Bulgaria to the ancient history of how the country began. The trip was beautifully organised - we had confirmation of timings the day before and were picked up on time. A really lovely way to spend a day to get away from the city and enjoy the countryside.

This was not worth the price. The tour ended up being €135 per person, which is nearly twice what was advised as the base price for this trip. I can’t imagine why this tour was so expensive - combined admission fees were barely €5 per person.
The “guide” Angel barely spoke to us and rushed us along all day. Instead of the advertised 10 hour trip, ours was only 7 hours (despite driving so slowly that I saw that we were going at 50 in a 70 zone, explaining why other cars were passing us all day). We spent the majority of the day in the car and, at most, only spent an hour and a half outside of the car. The lunch stop was about 30 minutes as Angel wanted us to leave immediately, even though it was our last stop of the day and we were 3 HOURS ahead of schedule.
I saw other reviewers mention that their guides were kind enough to made other stops. Although we had an extra 3 hours and someone suggesting it, the guide declined.
I 100% feel cheated by the price and the experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Hello,
I will start with the price- YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CHEATED! Everything is described when you are booking the tour. You have chosen to book it and pay for it anyway. The price that you have seen is the price that is shown on the tour, and it is the price for 2 travelers. This is the marketing policy of the wholesaler. There is nothing hidden or any of that sort. The tour is described as a small-group tour and a shared one, not a private one. Your calculations of our expenses are totally irrelevant and wrong.
Regarding the trip- We've contacted other travelers as well as our guide Angel.
According to the other travelers and to the guide nothing went as described by you.
By the way, Angel is one of the most loved guides.
He spoke to the travelers as always. On the way back all of them slept and this is the time when he stopped speaking.
They had lunch for 30 minutes as the clients finished their lunch for 30 minutes.
He told them several times that they would have brakes as often as they wanted.
Regarding the sites - the clients stayed as long as they wanted. They did not even want to visit the Fortress but our guide told them that it would be good to see it and when they were in it, they said that they wanted to leave almost immediately.
The guide drove according to the speed limits and there was no problem with the vehicle. He just added washing fluid - an ordinary procedure I think. I have never believed that driving safely (we are transportation people, not carrots) will provoke a bad review. The rest of your comments are a total lie and I believe that they are provoked by our rejection of your refund request.

I visited Lovech, devetaki cave and Krushuna waterfalls with BulTrips, and it was absolutely worth the price! Our driver, Viso, was fantastic. He shared the rich history of all the places we visited and even shared some delicious cherries with us. His sense of humor kept us entertained throughout the trip. I highly recommend this tour, especially with Viso as the driver!

Well…wow! 10/10
Detailed instructions to make collection and planning simple, prompt pick up in a spacious and clean vehicle with a wonderful and extremely knowledgeable guide!
Beautiful scenery, breathtaking and our guide was a mine of knowledge about the watefall, caves and fortress in addition to all things Bulgarian and Balkan - we discussed nature, history, religion and everything inbetween and there wasn’t a question she hesitated on!
Lunch was great and all the recommended dishes were authentic and delicious, just the right amount of rest in between the tours.
I had picked up a running injury prior to arriving in Sofia and I was worried I would slow the group or struggle on some terraine but I was very well looked after and didn’t struggle at all, mainly because of our guides kindness and not making me feel like I was slowing down the tour!
Will always be grateful for your knowledge and kindness, thank you!

The car (large for 6people plus driver) was very comfy. There was flexibility on breaks. On a way to first spot which was cave the view was amazing as we passed through road between mountains. There was no rush and few optional tracks for those interested so it was nice. The guide/driver provides information about local history which was very interesting. Restaurant on Lovech was amazing, I would recommend this trip to anyone who likes walk around nature.

Meto was our guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Lovech and the Devatashka cave. He brings connects the past to the present with stories and humor. He crafts his tales with excellent timing with the landscape. The Krushuna Falls are breathtaking and a refreshing walk through the park.

We really enjoyed this trip. Our guide, Maria was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Her English is excellent and she really gave us a taste of the true Bulgaria. Her enthusiasm for, and love of, her country was infectious.
The tour itself was extremely well organised with pick up and drop off from our apartment. The trip to Lovech was 2.5 hrs with a midway break for drinks and a comfort stop. The trip was exactly as described and Maria was flexible and allowed us to guide how long we spent in each place. We would highly recommend the trip.

Our guide was knowledgeable and kind; he went with our pace whenever we needed breaks from walking. We liked the experience overall, despite the waterfall not having a lot of water. The best time to go is in the spring or after heavy rainfall.

Hi there
Regarding this trip and the current situation of everyone losing their mind over the coronavirus, will this trip be effected in any way in the coming months if I were to make a reservation for later in April? (assuming everyone calms down and we return to business as usual soon)
Thanks
Written 15 March 2020
Hi. I don't know for sure. You can always book it, write to the tour company and ask them what's up. Will there be any tours in April, then if they say yes you got it made. If they say no you can always get a refund. It's a win win.
Written 17 March 2020
Yes - they will pick you up from either a hotel or apartment, or a convenient location. Cars couldn’t get to our apartment so we got picked up a little further down the road near the statue of Sofia
