Samoa was an exceptional guide and very knowledgeable of both Croation food and culture and history. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour and would highly recommend it to fellow travellers.
This tour consists of breaking the walk with three tastings on our way through the historical center of Zagreb, mixing two popular ways of discovery : the food and the culture tours. My first Zagreb Food Tour started in 2015 and since then many travelers have been mixing it with a culture and history tour Zagreb. On our way throught the historical part of the Croatian capital we will visit the Kaptol – with the Dolac farmer's market (next to the cathedral), the Tkalciceva Street and the Upper Town with the Stone Gate, St. Mark's Square, the Lotrscak Tower, the walking alley with the view (during the day) of the modern city.
The Zagreb Culture and Food Tour starts from the Ban Jelacic Square. The itinerary will lead us to Kaptol, the religious center of Croatia. The Dolac famer’s market is near the cathedral. This market is the symbol of Zagerb’s traditional cuisine and gastronomy, but in the sense that our traditional way of eating is very simple, healthy and seasonal. Depending of the season and the day of the week the Dolac famer’s market changes its colours and offer. The visit of Dolac market is possible only until 1 pm. The farmer’s market is closed on Croatian public Holidays.
We will then walk through the Tkalciceva St. – the colorful and animated place where you can peek into the favorite activity of the citizens of Zagreb – coffee (drinking &chatting) culture.
In the Upper Town we will see the Stone Gate, the St. Mark’s square with the Croatian Parliament and the Government building and the St. Mark Church, and also the south part of the Upper Town – with the Lotrscak Tower looking at the modern city towards the Sava river.
We will end the tour around the Flower Square.
