About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Zachary W0 contributionsJust book it!Tour guide (Romeo) was great, bus was nice and smooth. Total travel time for the day is about 6 hours, the ride there is broken up by castle stops. The ride back is kind of a long one, but still worth the money. I really enjoyed it. Brasov was stunning and my favorite part! Would highly recommend.Written 12 October 2024
- Peteymo0 contributionsBeautiful drive, Transylvania what's not to like?Peter was our excellent driver. Romeo our wonderful and extremely informative guide. We had a great day. Only issue was we were unable to enter Peles Castle. It was a disappointment. We went on a Tuesday and truly expected to be able to enter and weren't informed of the non entry until we arrived. There was scaffolding and tarping about most of the building and we heard that a pipe had burst inside, as well. One other note is that, we were sent an email of choice if pick up which was to be responded to by 1500. If no response they TOLD you were you were to meet. We were on a plane and unable to respond and the place we were expected to go and meet was inconvenient. We used the number for the guide early the next day and he was very accommodating. Great day and well worth the cost and small hassles. USA UtahWritten 8 October 2024
- Steviefull0 contributionsA Great TripWe met at the Hilton Garden Inn in Old Town for our 8.00am pick up and were met by our guide Nicoletta. We were in a minibus seating around 20 people, so a decent size for a tour. Nicoletta gave us some information about Bucharest on our two hour journey to our first destination Peles Castle, I wont lie I caught up on my sleep a little bit during this journey, which was welcome. Our first stop is Peles castle and the real highlight of the trip a beautiful castle inside and out with some great views out over the vast surrounding forests. If you are here and the weather conditions were as good as we had you will have some fantastic photo opportunities with a clear blue sky showing the castle in front of snow topped mountains. Inside it does get a bit crowded with it being a popular place for group tours but its well worth it with rooms laid out as they would have been during its 150 year history. Definitely a good place to visit on its own let alone on a tour like this. An hour down the road and we are at our second stop Brasov, we didn't do a lot here, we walked around the little Christmas market and looked around the Black Church, which is worth it for the name alone. Thirty minutes down the road and we are at Bran Castle, calling it Draculas Castle is a bit sketchy but there is a link. This over 600 year old castle has a fantastic look from the outside and the sweeping walk upto it also adds to the experience. Inside its a lot smaller than Peles castle but the rooms have character and are presented as best they can with props and some video presentations. We then had a three hour journey back to look at the scenery and of course have a little sleep. A great tour taking in the region of 10 hours for a cost of around £60 per person is a fantastic deal, if you are spending more than a couple of days in Bucharest this is a must do day trip.Written 26 September 2024
- anab850 contributionsA Delta To RememberBooked a tour via Viator to the Danube Delta. Our guide, Matei, who is with TravelMaker, took us on a 2 day tour seamlessly and made it fun. It was a fantastic tour. Since it was a nature tour, the lovely weather helped. The hotel stay was comfortable and the your itself was spectacular. Matei was knowledgable, helpful and fun. We had fun.Written 25 September 2024
- glendaw540 contributionsNot great! The sights were fabulous but the guide was not. The driver was wonderfully patient with all of the traffic during the long day. The guide did not connect with the group and I’ve had better audio commentary in a museum. It was like he was reading from his phone the whole time. Very monotone and uninteresting.Written 23 September 2024
- Curious653041380130 contributionsCar IdlersI took a day trip to Castles in Transilvania. The driver talked quite a bit about the climate change in Romania over his lifetime that for example it used to snow heavily in Bucharest and now it is only muddy in winter. At the same time everytime we stopped the driver kept the engine running unnecessarily (the aircon was off anyway and the day was not hot). So would they not want to do their bits to reduce the air pollution?Written 16 September 2024
- Roving052908519930 contributionsBeautiful RomaniaI recently had the pleasure of touring Romania with Serban Riga Fereu, and I wanted to share my appreciation. The trip was fantastic, and Serban's knowledge of the country was impressive. He shared many interesting facts that made the experience very enriching. His sense of humor also added a lot of fun to the tour. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend Serban as a guide. Thank you for making our trip so memorable! - 855maip0 contributionsInteresting placesThis ended up being a private tour with Serban as our guide. Serban is a very proud Romanian with a wealth of knowledge who along with his humour made this tour very enjoyable. We were lucky to have both places virtually to ourselves. Would highly recommend. Thank you Serban 😊Written 28 August 2024
- ellenw8980 contributions3 day tour of RomaniaBe sure to add an extra few days when visiting Bucharest to visit the countryside. The 3 day tour includes the Bram and Peles Castles which people often take in a one day tour. The extra days driving over the Carpathian Mts. and stopping in 3 lovely towns, 2 overnights had us all chanting, "we love Romania!"! This country is very rich in history. Seeing the bears by the side of the road was amazing too though people shouldn't be feeding them. We had a delightful tour with our guide, Serben, from TravelMaker. He was funny and had a lot of historical knowledge. He was able to anticipate crowds and adjust our schedule so we could avoid the worst tourist bottlenecks. The website had all the info about bringing a certain amount of local currency which we needed for tickets to the Peles Castle, suggested tip, tipping in general etc. My only suggestion is to understand the acommodations better. Maybe a link to the hotels could be sent beforehand. The last hotel was in a fabulous location right at the town square, but no elevator. Serben was great carrying bags up stairs and the next morning the hotel had staff to help. We were a group of 9 older travelers. The driver, Floin, for the van was very professional oal and managed the mountain switchbacks and crowded areas with skill.Written 24 August 2024
- graciam1990 contributionsguide horror, choose another agencyAs soon as we started, the guide named Serban informed us that it was necessary to bring cash when in the end the tickets could be obtained online. After this the day began with the worst guide I have had throughout many years of travel. His misogynistic comments about the time women need to go to the bathroom, his lack of knowledge repeating and giving very little historical information. In Brasov he gave us a ten-minute guided walk without even telling us what to see. But the disastrous end was yet to come. Although Serban had been saying all day how well he was doing, I imagine it was so that he could be tipped, which was later confirmed. All day they were taking secondary roads supposedly to save time. On the way back they took us through some mountain roads with so many curves and at such high speed that we were all dizzy when the time saved according to Google Maps was two minutes. Honestly do not recommend that rude guide, who only wants to charge a tip and have good comments left. Well there goes mine. The castles and the city are worth it but with a different agency.Written 24 August 2024
- GreggBoston0 contributionsNot an enjoyable experience.I wish I could say this was great, but I came back from this trip very tense and anxious. The sites were very crowded and no accommodations were made for groups. While we waited, people constantly cut in line in front of us. We couldn’t see anything in the castles because of the crowds. There were three men from South America who came on the trip sick. The guide allowed them on the bus even though one was wet with fever and coughing. The others had terrible mucus cough and I am sure we will all end up with COVID on our vacation. We were rushed the entire time. When we arrived at Bresov after a day of not eating, we were told to find a place that would serve us within 20 minutes. No recommendations. While the guide had gone on about the wonderful Romanian food, we had bar food because that’s all that could be prepared in the allotted time. The bus stairs were poorly marked and I injured my knee leaving the bus. We are experienced travelers and have take day trips throughout Europe and South America. While each had their challenges, the experience was good. This was the worst. It was a total waste of money and time. All I came away with was an injury and illness. The guide was very nice, but somewhat defensive about her country. It’s a beautiful place. Nothing to be defensive about.Written 22 August 2024
- cristycriss0 contributionsUnforgettable day Trip!I had an exceptional tour guide who was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about his work. He provided fascinating insights into the country's history, making the experience informative and enjoyable. - luismT5653NB0 contributionsWorthwhile tourGreat small group tour. Excellent guide (Ioana). She really knows how to be a tour guide. The mini-bus was comfortable. The castles were too busy (probably the pick of the holiday period), but nevertheless the tour was worthwhile.Written 16 August 2024

My daughter and I enjoyed a great two-hour tour of the most famous and historic places in Bucharest with the Trip Maker Tour Company. Our tour guide Riga had a great knowledge of the past and the more recent history of his homeland, particularly the events surrounding the fall of communism in the late 1980s which he lived through (ask him to repeat the 'banana' story and the story of the execution of the dictator on Christmas day!). His great sense of humour and quick wit made the tour all the more enjoyable. I can highly recommend this night tour which we did on our first night in the city, and which gave us a far greater sense of place and historical context as we got up to other adventures in the days that followed. Thank you Trip Maker. Thank you Mr Riga!
