About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- RohiniG750 contributionsAmazing experience to Bulgaria with an amazing guide! We had a fantastic time on our tour to Bulgaria with Serban! His energy and enthusiasm were infectious, making the whole experience enjoyable and fun. He was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly kind and jolly, which created a warm atmosphere for everyone in the group. We hit some traffic and ended up running late, but Serban was so understanding and graciously waited for us without any hesitation. It truly made a difference in our day! Overall, Serban’s positivity and dedication made this tour unforgettable. Highly recommend him as a guide! Thank you, Serban!Written 4 December 2024
- H5264PUemmac0 contributions5 star 🌟 tourI cannot tell you how fabulous our tour was. Serban Riga was our guide and he was the most wonderful gentleman, he was punctual, funny and so knowledgeable, we had such a great time. We didn’t feel rushed and he did go over our time to allow us to enjoy our wine 🍷 highly recommend, wonderful experience.Written 4 December 2024
- Sheeetal0 contributionsBeautiful trip for my husband’s 50th birthdayWhat a lovely day! We started off at the agreed pick up point on time, joined the mini-bus and the rest of the group compiled itself. First stop was the service/fuel station, quick trip to the bathroom, a coffee/pastry or usual light snacks available. Then to Peles Castle (note, November 2024 scaffolding outside); absolutely amazing, the interior is even more spectacular. You will be thankful for your guide, Mathew who was very informative throughout. It should be noted that there can be absolute chaos actually getting into the the castle, we were in a queue waiting as we are programmed to do. So and slowly but surely, herds of people were by-passing us, soon it became apparent that there is major queue jumping going on and no order is preserved from the venue. This is a real shame as it is a major health and safety risk of crushing/crowd control. As you get closer to the entrance, it really feels as though it may just take a few crazy people to start pushing and can end dangerously! If you are travelling as a group, it seems as though your leader gets you to enter together as per group. Next stop, Bran Castle, you will get a chance to have lunch before entering. We had grabbed some market food as we wanted to look around for the hour beforehand. Note, stall holders will only take cash and ATMs are available. Then to the castle, there was a queue but more organised than Peles. The castle is smaller but still super amazing to admire and take in the history. Last stop was Brasov, beautiful town, would be nice to spend the day exploring if travelling on your own. We had approximately an hour or just over and managed to see the tower to the views and grab a hot chocolate from the main square. We felt as if it were enough for us as the day was quite a long one. Peter, our lovely driver, met us at a more convenient spot to save our legs from waking which was very much appreciated at this point. I have to mention that we met the most amazing group, I have never been on a trip with friendly, warm, funny and kind people. If I had to ever do a group trip again, I wouldn’t change anyone on this trip, they truly made it worthwhile for us! Positives: Speak for themselves, the people, the group leader Mathew and driver, Peter- they were lovely The sights, it’s an action packed day (don’t make dinner plans as it could get very late if you hit traffic) Small group Time efficient Negatives: The queue system or not, at Peles (although this is the fault of the Castle organisation) Maybe for some, it can become a long day, but it’s the only way to see as much in the short timeWritten 27 November 2024
- Cocoandfergustravels0 contributionsPoor planning and communicationMatel was very aloof with us. He didn't communicate clearly when the bathroom breaks or when meals would be available. The group struggled several times to understand when/where we were going and for how long. The day was a 16 hr day. This was not due to traffic but poor communication and planning.Written 16 November 2024
- chriistinash0 contributionsNice trip with minivan!Great trip with nice stops. A long day, but worth it. The only thing that we missed was that we had time to sit down and have proper lunch. We had maximum 1 hour stop, which is a bit short if you want to take some pictures and eat lunch.Written 14 November 2024
- troyd9850 contributionsTour of Peles Castle, Dracula’s Castle, and Brasov. Our tour was amazing!! Our driver and tour guide were prompt in picking us up at our hotel. We had about 3 more pickup points and then we were on our way. Our tour guide, Mathew, was very good! He described things we passed and gave us some very interesting Romanian history. We did stop at a gas station about 1.5 hours into the drive for coffee and refreshments. Our first stop was Peles Castle. Although it took about an hour to get in, well worth it. The castle is so beautiful. Mathew once again was an amazing tour guide, explaining everything. Next up was Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania. We had an hour to get lunch and visit shops before the tour. I loved this castle and its history. Lastly we went to the medieval town of Brasov. It was quite charming, lots of restaurants and bars. Excellent pastry shops. I highly recommended getting snacks and water at the gas station, or when In Transylvania. It’s a long ride back to Bucharest, about 3.5 hours. Use the bathroom before heading back also. We drove straight back. Lastly, PLEASE remember to TIP the driver and tour guide. Several people did not tip. Our driver drove through rain and snow. He was so careful, safe and professional. Our guide was so informative. He had so much to share . I highly recommend this tour.Written 11 November 2024
- KNS19920 contributionsVery interesting historical tourOur tour guide Matthew was very knowledgeable. The trip was longer than expected due to heavy traffic (Saturday). The castles were interesting. Would have loved a little more time in Brasov. Advice: Use the washrooms whenever you stop as there aren’t many along the way. Be prepared with snacks or grab quick meals to go as there is not much time for sit down eating.Written 26 October 2024
- marthai5030 contributionsFun day trip from Bucharest! This is a terrific tour of three beautiful places. The van was very comfortable and the guide was fantastic. It was a long day but well worth it.Written 24 October 2024
- benjaminbK1383OD0 contributionsFun experience! We had the opportunity to go take a day tour to Bulgaria with the best tour guide ever, Șerban. He was fun, engaging, and knowledgeable. He made the entire trip worthwhile, even the travel time in between (which can be hard to do). Seeing Bulgaria was a lot of fun as well. It was a well organized, efficient tour in which we actually got home earlier than expected. All credit goes to Șerban on that one! My wife and I are in our mid 20’s, we got to see everything we wanted to even with limited time at each location, and even got to sit for a lovely Bulgarian lunch. If we ever want to do another tour in or out of Bucharest, it will be with TravelMaker!Written 18 October 2024
- Zachary W0 contributionsJust book it!Tour guide (Romeo) was great, bus was nice and smooth. Total travel time for the day is about 6 hours, the ride there is broken up by castle stops. The ride back is kind of a long one, but still worth the money. I really enjoyed it. Brasov was stunning and my favorite part! Would highly recommend.Written 12 October 2024
- Peteymo0 contributionsBeautiful drive, Transylvania what's not to like?Peter was our excellent driver. Romeo our wonderful and extremely informative guide. We had a great day. Only issue was we were unable to enter Peles Castle. It was a disappointment. We went on a Tuesday and truly expected to be able to enter and weren't informed of the non entry until we arrived. There was scaffolding and tarping about most of the building and we heard that a pipe had burst inside, as well. One other note is that, we were sent an email of choice if pick up which was to be responded to by 1500. If no response they TOLD you were you were to meet. We were on a plane and unable to respond and the place we were expected to go and meet was inconvenient. We used the number for the guide early the next day and he was very accommodating. Great day and well worth the cost and small hassles. USA UtahWritten 8 October 2024
- Steviefull0 contributionsA Great TripWe met at the Hilton Garden Inn in Old Town for our 8.00am pick up and were met by our guide Nicoletta. We were in a minibus seating around 20 people, so a decent size for a tour. Nicoletta gave us some information about Bucharest on our two hour journey to our first destination Peles Castle, I wont lie I caught up on my sleep a little bit during this journey, which was welcome. Our first stop is Peles castle and the real highlight of the trip a beautiful castle inside and out with some great views out over the vast surrounding forests. If you are here and the weather conditions were as good as we had you will have some fantastic photo opportunities with a clear blue sky showing the castle in front of snow topped mountains. Inside it does get a bit crowded with it being a popular place for group tours but its well worth it with rooms laid out as they would have been during its 150 year history. Definitely a good place to visit on its own let alone on a tour like this. An hour down the road and we are at our second stop Brasov, we didn't do a lot here, we walked around the little Christmas market and looked around the Black Church, which is worth it for the name alone. Thirty minutes down the road and we are at Bran Castle, calling it Draculas Castle is a bit sketchy but there is a link. This over 600 year old castle has a fantastic look from the outside and the sweeping walk upto it also adds to the experience. Inside its a lot smaller than Peles castle but the rooms have character and are presented as best they can with props and some video presentations. We then had a three hour journey back to look at the scenery and of course have a little sleep. A great tour taking in the region of 10 hours for a cost of around £60 per person is a fantastic deal, if you are spending more than a couple of days in Bucharest this is a must do day trip.Written 26 September 2024
- anab850 contributionsA Delta To RememberBooked a tour via Viator to the Danube Delta. Our guide, Matei, who is with TravelMaker, took us on a 2 day tour seamlessly and made it fun. It was a fantastic tour. Since it was a nature tour, the lovely weather helped. The hotel stay was comfortable and the your itself was spectacular. Matei was knowledgable, helpful and fun. We had fun.Written 25 September 2024
- glendaw540 contributionsNot great! The sights were fabulous but the guide was not. The driver was wonderfully patient with all of the traffic during the long day. The guide did not connect with the group and I’ve had better audio commentary in a museum. It was like he was reading from his phone the whole time. Very monotone and uninteresting.Written 23 September 2024
- Curious653041380130 contributionsCar IdlersI took a day trip to Castles in Transilvania. The driver talked quite a bit about the climate change in Romania over his lifetime that for example it used to snow heavily in Bucharest and now it is only muddy in winter. At the same time everytime we stopped the driver kept the engine running unnecessarily (the aircon was off anyway and the day was not hot). So would they not want to do their bits to reduce the air pollution?Written 16 September 2024

First of all I would like to compliment Travelmaker, WOW! what a great company, once you are in their office everyone and everything welcomes you. Indeed they did a good job in organizing our tours and airport pickup.
Secondly, Matei Boerescu, our tour guide for the Medieval Tour, he was excellent by all means. He was very punctual, informative and had a great sense of humour. Overall, it was a great experience and would love to do the tour again, however, the next time would be to have more time and spend at least 6 days in this tour. Great Job!

My husband, college aged daughter, & I very much enjoyed our tour of Transylvania. The private tour allowed us to go at our own pace so we never felt rushed. Our tour guide, Serban Riga, was very knowledgeable and really made us feel comfortable and at ease.

Hello. I'm very interested in this tour, but I realize that the tickets for some places are not included on the tour's price. Is it possible to buy those tickets with you? If not could you recommend for me a website to buy those tickets?
