Great 5 day private tour around Transylvania
I would highly recommend Mihai for a tour in Romania. We worked together to customize a tour which worked for us. Mihai was an excellent guide and a very safe driver. We had a very enjoyable tour around Transylvania and saw many great sights including castles, Saxon villages, monasteries and Bears.

Enthusiastic, custom tour from a super friendly guide with great English and a fun personality
Absolutely beautiful tour of Romania with our new friend Mihai, who was always enthusiastic about sharing knowledge of his home country. If you're comparing tours, know that Mihai and his company provide a customizable experience, in a comfortable vehicle, and he is honestly the best driver I've experienced in visits to over 65 countries. Driving the transfagarasan on this tour was an absolute delight, seeing the beauty of the countryside, the "real" Dracula castle, and several adorable brown bears along the way. Definitely my go to guide for my next visit!

Really informative tour about a fascinating era of Romanian history
We did the tour of the city of Bucharest to learn all about the communist history of the country in general and the city in particular. The tour covered the period from WWI right up until the revolution in 1989. The guide (Andreea) was knowledgeable and told us all about the city's development and how the Ceaușescu regime impacted that. She covered a lot of information about how the people experienced life during that time. A real must for lovers of this period of history.

An Unforgettable and very special 14 day tour of Romania
We have just returned from a 14 day private tour of Romania organised by Mihai from I Travel In Romania. We had the most wonderful time. We saw and experienced so much and a lot of it was down to Mihai who is a fantastic tour guide. His passion for his homeland, amazing knowledge of its history and culture and his willingness to go the extra mile when he knew we were particularly interested in something really made the holiday. He is a fantastic ambassador for Romania and helped us make memories we will always cherish. Due to other commitments, he couldn't be our guide for the whole trip, but the 2 other people he lined up for us were also excellent. It's so hard to pick out highlights, but some favourites include the Maramures region where we met locals scything the grass and were invited to meet one old lady's pigs! We also loved watching another lady hand painting some eggs, which was so incredibly skillful and visiting a woollen mill where they made rugs still powered by a waterwheel. Romania is also famous for its painted monasteries and wooden churches which we really appreciated especially as Mihai arranged an off the cuff memorable private tour with a nun for one church and our guide for the wooden church in Breb burst into spontaneous song which brought tears to the eyes. I particularly liked the historical aspect of the trip and enjoyed following in the footsteps of the four generations of the royal family. Of course, we saw some spectacular scenery too and finished on a real high for us doing some bird spotting in the Danube delta which I highly recommend. Mihai was extremely efficient from the get go when I first initiated contact with him and tweaked the private tour to suit our interests and dates. He always responded to any queries very quickly and did his best to ensure that we were satisfied at all times. I can't recommend this tour or Mihai's Company, I Travel In Romania, enough.

          An Excellent Bucharest Overview
This whistle stop long day tour really does give a full insight to Bucharest and Romania as a whole. The Romanian village stop brings the rural Romania aspect to you, literally, and provides a little rushed but informative outlook on Romanian life. Leaving the city centre, you visit a monetary, impressive and historic. Then off to the car collection, was not really fussed about this element until we got there, really very impressive and worth the visit. Then it’s the palaces and the Parliament Palace tour, an essential visit re-enforcing the historic/communism aspects already covered by Mihai our guide during the tour. It is a full 8-9 hours so arrive fresh. Lunch in a local restaurant was perfect for atmosphere and quality of local food. Mici is a must try if you like sausage. You will need cash for all entrance fees and lunch in addition to tour price. Budget for around an on the day total of 200 Lei or £36 per person including lunch. A very worthwhile trip if visiting Romania for the first time. Our guide recommended 2 local restaurants for local food, we tried both of them, and both were excellent. Thank you Mihai. BeLu.

          Superb personal tour. Highly recommended!
Our tour with Mihai was fantastic!!! Not only did we see the sights and learn history along the way, but we also learned about life, culture, education, and society in Romania today. Mihai was generous in providing his personal story so that we could fully appreciate his country. In every way, his tourism expertise and services were superb. My husband and I highly recommend him.

          Good overview of Bucharest
Mihai is a very good tour guide. He was able to give the correct amount of information so that it was not overwhelming but still learned a lot. The places visited were as advertised, so you can expect to see all the places with a nice amount of time at each. He is a very safe driver. There is flexibility as it is private.

          Transylvania private tour
We did this 4 day private Transylvania tour along with another couple with Mihai from Bucharest prior to our river cruise and it was beyond our expectations. From our initial email to the last (and we sent many inquiring about the tour) Mihai's responses were always prompt and very helpful. You will feel like you are travelling with your best friend or a family member. He knows Romania in detail and provides extraordinary knowledge of his beautiful country. He is very flexible as we added a trip to Villa Vinea Winery which was wonderful and worth the side trip. He offers several choices for accommodations, all of which are unique in their own ways. After reflecting on our 21 day river cruise from Bucharest to Amsterdam, we have to say that this tour with Mihai to Transylvania was at the top of the list of our most memorable experiences ever. Mihai has a passion for sharing his country with visitors. If you want a relaxed and educational tour of Transylvania, Romania look no further than Mihai.

Ten days of catered fun and laughs with Mihai
My wife and I took a ten-day private tour with I Travel in Romania and Mihai was our guide. The trip was booked by my brother and highly recommended his company, and he did not disappoint. My brother worked with Mihai on planning everything and many surprises were lined up but one surprise my brother didn't know about was attending a traditional Romanian wedding. That experience was a once in a lifetime experience. That's not all We did but one of the many things that was planned that words can't express being part of. We visited castles, citadels, weavers, churches, a blacksmith, sheep farm, villages, Prince Charles' home, salt mine, train ride, communist prison museum followed by a visit to the Ukraine border and the list goes on. We ate dinner with the locals on a few occasions and the hotels were handpicked to our desires. Mihai found out We are lovers of handcrafted items and even catered things around that along with slowing the pace down for my wife that has some medical conditions. We had fun and felt safe the entire stay. It was also nice to see Mihais love for the cats and dogs as well as his fellow countrymen.

          Hanging out with Mihai
Mihai was wonderful. Not only did we have an awesome trip, but Mihai learned what we liked. We spent 10 days and every day was full of adventure. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He made us feel very comfortable in beautiful Romania. I felt cared for and catered to. By the end of the trip we were sad to say goodbye to Mihai. He went out of his way to show us things that you normally wouldn’t see. We enjoyed hanging out with the locals, meeting skilled craftsmen and women. We toured castles, we attended a beautiful traditional Romanian wedding, we visited weavers and coppersmiths as well as an iron smith. This is just the tip of the iceberg of everything we did. Mihai was also very accommodating because I have some medical issues there was something I was unable to do so he made sure I was comfortable and safe in an awesome cabin in maramures. It was like a wonderland. We ate at locals homes as well as top notch restaurants. Everything was perfect.

Mihai is an incredible guide with a great knowledge of his city, providing details of the Romanian History and with an awesome conversation. Me, as a Mexican, felt I was hanging even with a friend. There was no rush and very comfortable and secure his driving. Highly recommended if you wanna see the musts in a full day. Yeah!

We hired Mihai for 6 days for Bucharest and Transylvania. He was wonderful. We saw everything we wanted to see and some other things he suggested. His English is perfect. He was prompt for each pickup and he was even able to book some hotels for us. He rented a Mercedes minivan for us. We were two couples seeing Romania for vacation. He is extremely knowledgeable about the country. I would recommend him without reservation for anyone planning to visit Romania.

First and foremost, our guide Victor was excellent. Lots of information, helpful and always making sure we were pleased. The tour itself was okay. Bran's Castle/Fortress was lots of climbing, stairs and ramps, and not particularly interesting, IMHO. It was built as a fortress and so it is difficult to enter. Brasov was "just a town" It was a long drive (2:45) to the area, both directions. If not for Victor, it would have been a great poor tour.

Thank you William for booking the private tour with us and for your words of appreciation for my colleague Victor. All the details about the long driving are mentioned and we believe Brasov is a great city to get a good perspective of the Saxons' heritage in Transylvania. Also being Monday it was for Peles castle to be closed and that certainly is a must in Romania. Wishing you more interesting and safe travels!

Mihai is an excellent tour guide, very flexible and responsive to all our needs. He is well organized and has great insight into the areas and sites we visited. Mihai was very prompt and courteous and helped make our Romanian tour a very memorable holiday. His recommendations on places to visit and stay were memorable and inline with our expectations. We did some walking as part of our tour and the walks he helped us find were a bunch of fun and very pretty. A couple of the adhoc experiences we came across like the "singing tile maker, George" really gave us an insight into the everday life of rural Romanians. We would definitely recommend Mihai to others looking for a great experience.

It is hard to overstate what a great tour guide Mihai is. We went on a 7-Day tour of the countryside and visited many of the famous sites. Driver safety was followed at all times and we were never at risk. the best time we had was in small villages where we got to meet the local folks, mihai made fast friends with all of them and enabled us to feel comfortable with them. The food was universally excellent, and really unique. Mihai was always polite, prompt and professional, and I feel like he is a good friend now. Do not hesitate to make a reservation with him for any of his offerings!

Scott, Kim, I enjoyed all the experiences we have had in the villages as much as you did. Even I go there more often, it is the tourists like you and the locals in these villages that always make me happy to come back. I do hope some part of your family shall come to visit their "roots" like you did and I am sure they shall enjoy it as much as you did. Wish you all the best and happy travels!

Our guide, Florin, did an excellent job of showing us both the Castles and Brasov on the Saturday before Orthodox Easter. There were a large number of people who were out and touring and we were so glad to have Florin as our very personable, private guide and driver. We would never have had such a great experience with any other tour. So much to see and quite a long drive from Bucharest but absolutely worth every minute! Loved Peles Castle! Bran Castle had a number of extremely narrow, steep stairways so bear that in mind (they could use handrails). We had just arrived from the U. S. the day prior so chose to skip the monastery but really enjoyed Brasov as well. Had lunch there in the square with our guide and got to taste and share three popular dishes and a fabulous dessert. Many thanks to Florin to a great day!

Mihai was my tour guide for 2+ days from Bucharest into Transylvania at the end of March. He made me feel at ease and comfortable traveling alone for a couple of days. Mihai was very helpful beginning the day I contacted him to try to arrange an itinerary and continued to make recommendations and adjust the itinerary due to unexpected weather (snow) and my flight delays. He was polite, prompt and loved sharing information and knowledge about his country. His discussions on the history, culture and his experiences made for an interesting and rich experience in learning about Romania. I would definitely travel again with Mihai and wholeheartedly recommend his tours to other travelers.

Thank you Stacy for the review. Indeed it was a pretty challenging task to still have the tour on the such a snowy unexpected weather for late March. But I am glad you accepted to still go and discover part of Transylvania. Wish you all the best and happy travels!

We (myself, my husband and 3 kids (ages 9-15) had a wonderful time on our trip! Ionut was a wonderful guide and we were very comfortable with his driving and communication. He laid out our day for us and we had an amazing visit to Peles castle first. We had to go on a Saturday and it was busy but Ionut got us into the castle and through it smoothly--he gave us interesting facts about the rooms as we passed through and he got us around the larger groups to take great pictures! This place is gorgeous and not to be missed! Then we went to Brasov where we explored the town and then he introduced our kids to chimney cakes! They were so delighted this treat and I appreciated him making it fun for them. We finished off with a trip to Bran castle which we reached late in the afternoon after many of the tourists had left. This place is unique and beautiful and we loved meandering through the palace and reading all about the real history of the castle and Romania. We had great luck with traffic and didn't have any real slowdowns! It is a little bit of a drive from Bucharest but well worth it! Thanks for a wonderful trip Ionut!

Even you hoped for me to be your tour guide for the tour, I am glad you accepted to go in the tour with my good friend Ionut, who is a great tour guide as well. And I am glad your husband mentioned his interest in visiting the Black Church in Brasov which Ionut was able to fit in the schedule for you. Wish you and your family all the best and happy travels! And if you come back to Romania, I shall do my best to be your tour guide for that visit;)

Mihai was our tour guide for this day trip and he was excellent. He contacted me before the trip to give some suggestions. He picked us up early in the morning and got us out to peles castles early. He was well informed and the tour was worth the trip let alone the next castle we went to. Brans castles was nice but the food they sold outside the castle you have to try. The return trip from the castles we paid more attention the mountains and it is an impressive trip through them( Carpathian Mountains). I recommend this tour and ask for Mihai

Thank you Alvaro for the review and I am glad to know you both enjoyed the private tour. I just did my best to suggest you how we can avoid some traffic jams which are popular in the area for a Sunday evening.
