What is Travellers’ Choice?
Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
The day starts with a visit of the world’s largest, heaviest and most expensive administrative building, the Palace of Parliament. Next, we will attend a visit to the former residence of Ceausescu family, the last communist leader of the Socialist Republic of Romania. After these two communist landmarks, we will stop at the Revolution Square to talk about what happened in the last days before the revolution. Before our last stop we can have a break at a restaurant and at an old fashion sweet shop. In contradistinction with the Ceausescu former residence we will have an incursion back in time, in the communist time, where you will have the opportunity to experience life in the 80’s with the help of authentic decor and furniture, working appliances and household accessories, local drinks and homemade snacks and historical and archive footage. From here, you can go back to the city center by metro, to feel the lifestyle of Bucharest or with the car. Is your choice.

Transylvanian Escape 4 Day Tour ~ Outstanding
My mom and I had an amazing time during our short but fun tour around Transylvania. Our tour guide, Irena was very informative about the areas we visited and the history. What really stood out to me about Holiday to Romania is their customer service, always answered questions within 24 hours and really enjoyed the email about the temperatures in the areas to visit.

          A fantastic experience!!
A fantastic experience…. Our driver was lovely and told us a bit about the sanctuary before we got there…. It’s a long bumpy road leading up to the sanctuary - but once there, we had an opportunity to look around the small gift shop and use the restroom before heading off with the guide. We saw a number of bears…. all rescued from harsh backgrounds and given a new lease of life…. A brilliant trip and highly recommended 🥰

          Highly recommend !
An amazing place .... they have rescued 130 ex circus & display bears ... who are now living the best life ! Unless you have a hire car, you do need to go with a tour company, as there is no public transport there, and it is a long dirt road, which apparently Uber / Bolt wont do ! Once at the Bear Sanctuary, you join a group tour.

          Loved it!
This was the highlight of our visit to Romania. It was heartbreaking to hear the stories of abuse these bears endured, but so heartwarming to see them so well cared for and finally safe to live out their lives. We saw many bears, juveniles and cubs as well as a pair of rescued wolves. The tour guide was informative and incredibly patient with the group (as with any group, some people are rude and disrespectful). One thing of note, this is a walking tour and you do go up a decent size hill. Appropriate footwear and some level of fitness is required. One woman had to quit the tour due to her limitations.

Romania and Bulgaria - untapped potential for travellers
Amazing 23 days in these two countries on our tour arranged by Florin from Secret Romania tours - we had a one day walking tour with Alex Dimitrov in Sophia which was excellent, he was knowledgeable friendly and led a well paced tour. The rest of the tour was with Alin Pocris around the two countries- nothing was two much trouble for Alin, he was a careful and safe driver, thoughtful and he taught us a lot about the two countries with his wide knowledge of the two countries. There is so much history to see and explore and I would urge other travellers to go further out in these countries to explore beyond the day trips from the capitals.

          Yummy home cooked dinner
The food was so yummy and I loved the homey feeling of dinner. Was also nice to get out of the city and visit a village I wouldn't otherwise have seen

Great dinner in the fresh air of the mountains of Transylvania
This was a really good experience. It combined a drive through a beautiful part of Romania with a dinner served outdoors in a lovely setting. The dinner was hosted by a local woman who has lived in the village for years. She spoke no English, but fortunately our guide translated. The food was delicious and it was fun to hear about the recipes and how the food is prepared. Our guide/translator was outstanding, during the drive to the village he related a lot of information on the history and culture of Romania. Rather expensive, but I thought it was worth it. Highly recommended.

          Beautiful Bears finally at peace
Wonderful peaceful place and I was really moved by the Bears stories. So happy they have now found peace in this beautiful place. Please make sure though that you respect the place as a visitor and adhere to the rules so as we can all enjoy for the future as well as the Bears which is and should be the primary focus.

          great guide, wonderful tour
Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about Romanian history (including fortified churches), and was kind with a good sense of humour. The sites themselves are also spectacular, two of the best fortified churches in romania. I definitely recommend this tour!

          Great company to deal with
Having decided to visit Transylvania in Romania, we then had to find a company to arrange this for us! We couldn’t have chosen better. Vlad put together an itinerary encompassing what we wanted to see, together with recommendations by him. He couldn’t have been more accommodating in amending our itinerary to our wishes. Our guide, Irena, had fantastic English, was very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. The whole trip was very well organised and we had no hitches. Can’t recommend this company too highly.

Fascinating well organised Transylvanian tour including cultural and wildlife experiences
4 of us went on a bespoke tour of Transylvania organised by Holiday to Romania and Vlad Cernaianu. We had an excellent, well informed, guide who drove us around in a spacious comfortable people carrier. Our trip was a mix of what we knew we wanted to do and what Vlad wisely recommended which proved the perfect mix. We found Romania to be the most lovely country with extensive forests and wildlife areas and charming cities - especially Sibiu and Sighisoara - and were seriously impressed by the renovation of older buildings and associated attention to detail. The cities were clean and well maintained with plenty of outdoor entertainment as well as some 'folk' events. The local wine was excellent and the food fine but nothing special. We thoroughly recommend Transylvania and Holiday to Romania as company to organise this for you. Vlad replied very promptly to our enquiries and communicated well to ensure we had the holiday we had hoped for.

          Energising rafting experience
It was all very well organised and balanced as an activity for someone joining for the first time. Adventurous but not scary. I highly recommend you try it out!

Wonderful experience on the Dracula's Trail tour by Holiday to Romania
This tour was an amazing blend of history from decades to centuries ago. We explored several sights related to Dracula and his inspiration, Vlad the Impaler. We saw breathtaking views, beautiful churches and amazing castles. I would highly recommend touring Romania with a guide and using Holiday to Romania as much would be missed otherwise.

          Incredible Bucovina and Maramures tour
We are incredibly grateful to our wonderful guide, Dan Cernaianu and his company Holiday to Romania, for the wide-ranging, vibrant travel program we experienced in Bucovina and Maramures. His vast knowledge enabled him to answer all our questions, and the itinerary was crafted in a way that allowed us to gain a comprehensive understanding of both the nation's cultural and historic sites, as well as its current events and lifestyle. We were able to appreciate the gorgeous autumn views of the Carpathians up close as we took a ride on a logging train with a steam locomotive. During our few days spent with a Romanian family, we were welcomed warmly and gained a firsthand experience of the everyday life of Romanians, the traditional food, and the melodic music. We rate this trip and guide a solid five stars.

Every detail was taken care of for our custom tour of western Romania. We can’t recommend Holiday to Romania enough! Our itinerary was well organized and curated to our specific interests. We requested a very authentic tour to experience how real Romanians live. We could not be happier.
