Best tour for first time in El Salvador
I did a 4 day tour with my family and I would highly recommend it! Our tour guide, Lisbeth, was so informative, kind, and really knowledgeable about all things El Salvador. Our tour was personalized and accommodated my family in every way possible, offering both English and Spanish explanations and alternatives for the hike for those who didn’t want to hike. We were completely taken care of between the comfortable and safe hotel, driver, and guide. All we had to do was show up and have fun!

          Gerson crushes it!
Gerson was amazing. He was very flexible and personable. He also gave me good tips. After the tour, I traveled to Apaneca and had Sopa de Gallina at a restaurant he recommended. Gerson also showed me how to eat papusas. It was so much fun. I highly recommend this tour especially if you want a little introduction to the city.

Custom day with Gerson and William from EC Tours
We were checking out from our hotel in El Zonte and needed to go to Ataco. We didn't want to drive ourselves, so we hired EC Tours to bring us on a Ruta de las Flores tour for that journey! We had a great day with Gerson (guide) and William (driver). Neither my friend nor I drinks coffee, so we asked to go to the Santa Teresa hot springs instead of the coffee tasting. It was no problem to make that change. While we were on the tour, Gerson was able to call the hot springs to make us massage appointments. We stopped at a few cute towns and learned their history (and ate their food)! I have been studying Spanish for four years, so I asked Gerson to do the tour in Spanish. He spoke slowly for us and switched to English whenever we didn't know a word. His English is fantastic by the way. Gerson's helpfulness didn't end after our tour though. The day after the tour it was SO RAINY, so we decided to go back to Santa Teresa for more massages/spa treatments. Gerson once again helped us make reservations even though he was no longer our guide. We had a great time and learned a lot. Thank you Gerson and William!

          Wonderful Private Tour
EC Tours did wonderful, they accommodated my trip on short notice and adjusted to any suggestions I had! I met a few of their guides and even the owner. Everyone was very kind, answered plenty of questions, and shared so much information about El Salvador. I would absolutely recommend! First day was San Salvador walking tour and airport transfer. Second day was Santa Ana Volcano and lake day with hotel transfer. Third day was Ruta de las Flores. Final day was San Salvador Volcano and airport transfer.

The best tour company in El Salvador! We had a beautiful experience
I am so happy we booked a 4 day tour with ECTours. They made our experience so easy, fun and memorable. I would highly recommend booking a tour! We learned history, current events and culture visiting San Salvador, la Ruta de las Flores and archeological sites. We also experienced the beautiful nature of El Salvador visiting the country’s volcanoes. Our tour guide Lisbeth was the best! She was so sweet and made the tour so special for our family. My mom is Salvadoran and Lisbeth taught us so much. Her informative guide was an amazing gift that we will never forget! She also took us to great restaurants to have iconic Salvadoran dishes. Manuel was our driver and he was so kind and funny - we loved EC tours!

          Off the beaten path
I went on a walking tour with the Jefe, the Boss himself towards Sunset Park. I wanted to experience the local side as well as the new pier (Legends at the Pier). We started at a beach between El Tunco and La Libertad, quiet place mostly locals and had lunch. We then walked through the back streets headed towards the pier, stopping along the way for a cold beverage here and there. Ended up at Sunset Park where the Navy band was playing, nice new restaurants and bars where we hung out and enjoyed a nice evening with live music. Have to go back and stay a little longer....

          Stunning views from Suchitoto
Suchitoto has incredible views and gorgeous gardens. It’s a really charming little town. Ilopango lake is beautiful (a little commercial) but great for swimming, taking a boat trip or just chilling by the lake.

Great tour to explore El Salvador
Great site to see 2 Mayan sites, Cerro Verde (park with hike with beautiful views) and lunch overlooking the lake (absolutely stunning). Was a great tour to explore some of the beautiful sights of El Salvador. Gerson was a fantastic bilingual tour guide. I’d recommend bringing snacks or grabbing some yuca frita outside one of the ruins because if you do the Cerro Verde hike lunch will be quite late (around 3pm).

Highly recommend this tour. There are some really beautiful places including the (very reasonable priced) lunch restaurant & easy mini hike around the plantation & gardens. Gerson was a fantastic bilingual tour guide as well.

We were picked up on time in a very comfortable van. It was just another tourist with us so small and intimate group. Gerson is so knowledgeable about the history and culture of El Salvador. He was very nice and filled with positive energy. Strongly recommend this tour and Gerson!

          Great experience with Gerson
Gerson was an outstanding guide for this tour. He was very knowledgeable about the country's history as well as the significance of the sights seen on this day. Also provided good advice for other things to do within San Salvador and the beach areas. Overall, it was a good tour to see Rutas de las Flores!

          Must do in El Salvador
I am a world traveler and took this tour when I was in San Salvador. First of all EC tours communicated very well on WhatsApp to book this tour. Our guide was Gerson. He was very informative and interactive. He is a teacher by profession and it shows in his delivering the information. His choice of restaurant for lunch and other recommendations were very helpful. I would definitely recommend Gerson as a guide and EC Tours in El Salvador. It takes you in rural mountainous part of El Salvador away from the city.

We had a such a wonderful city tour with an excellent guide LizBeth. She sent me a WhatsApp message a day before about the tour’s schedule and what to bring, etc., so it was very good communication. She speaks perfect English and her explanation was very clear. She shared a lot of information about the history, background and people which were all great education to us. We didn’t know it was a private tour as we thought it was a group tour, so it was a good to have all her attention to us. She showed us the all key important spots and they are actually hard to find all by ourselves, so it was great that she took us there efficiently with great knowledge shared. She has a great energy with passion and positiveness. At the end, we went to a local restaurant to try the national food Pupusas. We really enjoyed our time to get to know the city of San Salvador and we highly recommend this tour with a guide LizBeth! Thank you!

Amazing Experience in the Historic District of San Salvador**

Visiting the historic district of San Salvador has been an incredible and enlightening experience. The vibrant energy and the warmth of the people are truly heartwarming. It's inspiring to see how life has blossomed in this area, especially knowing the challenges the community faced in the past. After the dark and difficult days following the civil war, it's uplifting to witness how the city has transformed into a space of peace and renewal. The colorful streets, rich culture, and resilience of the locals make this district a must-visit. It's a testament to the strength and hope of the people, and a reminder of the beauty that comes after hardship.

I highly recommend spending time here if you want to truly connect with the heart of El Salvador.

Did this tour with guide Lisbeth and driver Alessandro. From the start of the booking exp and airport pickup to the day trip was seamless. This is a very professional company that kept me in the loop as to when things would happen. Lisbeth is an excellent guide. Very personable and knowledgeable. We walked around the center of San Salvador and that was a fantastic experience. Was accommodating when I wanted to walk around the local market area. If you want to explore this country EC is the way to go. Lisbeth is the best!

        Hello fellow travelers-
Resubmitting my previous review with further details to better clarify my stance.
My opinion still stands: The cost of the tour is NOT worth the cost (especially for a solo traveler). The owner claims that I didn’t experience the full tour. Well, to be fair that is true, but not just because I fell ill during the tour. EC tours already knew that I had a flight, and so the tour would be slightly shortened. I still stopped and saw many of the major sites, and did the pupusa tasting. So sorry that is not worth $165!! That is a lot of pupusas friend!! Lol. Plus, it is untrue that EC tours ever offered me a discount given that the tour was shortened, and more so when I fell sick during the tour, NOT prior. I really did appreciate the guide moving at a slower pace when I became ill during the tour. Owner falsely claimed I started the tour when sick (untrue) and they were NOT there.

Also the site to pay for the additional airport transport was NOT user friendly!! My original payment didn’t go through, and I was informed of this when I was dropped off at the airport. I told them I would ensure they were paid when I landed as I was attempting to make my flight. It was really UNkind to get multiple text messages from multiple staff members URGENTLY requesting payment via whatsapp while I was on a flight with an unexpected illness….thinking I was going to run away and not pay them $30?!! It was borderline harassment. Truly. Not appropriate at all. Someone I just feel this would not be case if my skin was a different color. Would not use EC tours again because the human factor was missing for me in areas of how they dealt with me before, after, and during the tour. It was disappointing because it is already challenging traveling as black woman in this world in general due to racism that is covert and overt.

Dear Friends, !!! It is obvious that this person is doing everything possible to affect our business by leaving an unfair comment and trying to take advantage of the situation, but what she does not think is that it affects the people who work for the company. I do apologize that we don´t think the same like her. I already told her that if you make the reservation with a third party or a different website, you always pay a high additional extra fee, if you are an experienced traveler and you want to save money you have to make a better re-search. If you pay more to others to book us, it is your decision not ours. I also told her, if you were sick and couldn't do the tour, we recommend cancelling the trip and ask for a refund, but not a month in a half later. GOD BLESS YOU!!!! BTW we are Latinos, and we love working with Afro-Americans, Caribbeans, Jamaicans, Africans, Asians, Europeans, Americans, LGTBI and others. We don't concern about the color of your skin, gender, or race, we believe in a good experience. If you think that because the color of your skin, we did not give you credit, you are wrong, in the tourism industry you always pay before the service, not after you go home, (the guide needs to report everything at the end of the day). Thanks so much for this experience, we are leaning that always we will find people that complain about everything.

This was our second activity with EC Tours and we got Lisbeth again as our guide as well as the same driver, Walter. It was another hit! They picked us up at our airbnb in Escalon and we it was just us, so very personal. Lisbeth was amazing again, taking us to several of the incredible churches in the city, sharing history and a lot of conversation about the country, culture and background that really gave a fuller picture of everything for us first-timers in El Salvador. We also checked out the brand new modern library - amazing - and walked around the city center quite a bit seeing the markets and other significant buildings. We then went up to El Boqueron and saw the crater and then stopped for a wonderful meal and view while up there. I enthusiastically recommend!

After having such a great experience with Melissa on the full day Ruta de las Flores tour, we decided to do another tour. I was hesitant to explore the city center area on my own with my two kids, so I thought it’d be helpful to be led through the area with a guide.

We started the tour by visiting the church with the incredible stained glass. It also has a very unique modern expression of the stations of the cross. We visited another cathedral, the main square, and the new library. It was a great overview of the important places in the city center. Ricardo also gave us a lot of context with the history of the space.

We then drove out to El Boquerón National Park. It’s an easy walk up steps to the lookout points. We wrapped up the tour with a stop at a great pupusa place with an incredible view of the city. We tried a few other dishes besides the pupusas that Ricardo helped explain.

This tour was a perfect combo of the city and nature that doesn’t require the whole day. Highly recommend. Thank you Ricardo for a lovely day!

I had the absolute pleasure of exploring El Salvador with my guide, Michelle Lara, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of remarkable. From our very first interaction, I could sense her professionalism and commitment to providing an unforgettable tour.

Michelle's timely and cordial communications set the stage for what would become a fantastic adventure in El Salvador. Despite a potential hiccup with my scheduling conflict, she went above and beyond to accommodate my needs while still considering the schedules of other tourists. Her adaptability and understanding were very much appreciated, and it only solidified my positive impression of her as a professional tour guide.

Her warm personality and knowledge of El Salvador truly brought the country's history, culture, and landscapes to life. Michelle not only guided me through various sights, but she also helped me to sense the soul of El Salvador. Even after the tour, she remained attentive and caring, checking in on my departure from the airport and sharing our adorable tour photos. This not only reflected her commitment to a personalized service but also her warmth and charm as a person.

Michelle, thank you for the unforgettable journey, the fun, and the warmth. My heart now carries a piece of El Salvador with it, and I certainly look forward to revisiting and catching up with you someday.

This was an AMAZING tour! Melissa was our guide and if sunshine were a person it would be her. She was super informative and is quite the historian. We did a tour of downtown San Salvador with a pupusa tasting (so good!). We also visited Bourqueron National Park and saw breathtaking views. It was an action packed day and we also slid down the rainbow slide (great views of the city!) This was my first tour in El Salvador. I had so much fun that I booked them for two more tours. It's worth noting that I was on my own for the other tours and as a solo female traveler, I can attest that EC Tours goes above and beyond to ensure that you have a fun experience while also meeting every need and ensuring your safety. As a side note, unless you are taking a tour on the weekend, be prepared for lots of traffic.

I had a wonderful tour mostly due to my wonderful guide and driver, Wendy and Walter. They made me feel comfortable and were great to talk with. You can tell Salvador is new to tourism in the city but it was great to experience it and learn how people have been living the past few years. The beautiful churches and the new library were some of the highlights of the city. The volcano was an easy hike with a beautiful view of the crater within the crater. Now the pupusas… AMAZING!! Need to try them all. If you are lucky to have Walter as your driver.. ask him to sing the pupusa song 😊

We booked three tours with EC Tours. Communication by email to book the tours with Jenniffer was great and she responded promptly to our questions. David, our tour guide, arrived on time every day to pick us up. The value for these private tours is well worth the money. We felt safe and David provided a great experience every time. Highly recommend this tour company to see the many sites around El Salvador. We plan to do a few more tours on our next visit.
