Enjoyable, combine with Amador walk
The museum is interactive—very modern displays, a movie that you see beneath your feet/above/on the side, excellent guides. But you don’t “see” much of actual artifacts. It’s more reading and pictures—as the title of the museum says, it’s a museum about biodiversity. The gardens are lovely. I would plan on 1-1 1/2 hours. After, you can walk the Amador Causeway-breathtaking views, some fun shops, right on the ocean. Doing only the museum is not enough for a full day outing.

Bite-Sized Look At The Amazing Bio-Diversity Of Panama
Feb 2020
The architecture its as interesting as the museum itself. Maybe more so. Frank Gehry, world renowned architect, designed a gem which conveys many images of plants and rainforest canopies. It's worth spending time just looking up as you tour the facility.

To be honest - I thought the exhibits inside were under-done. There's just not that much to see. Not sure why because this area is believed to be one of the most bio-diverse on the planet...so there's no shortage of scientific information to impart to visitors. The exhibits miss the mark in my view.

Nonetheless - I would recommend the museum as a worthwhile way to spend two hours.

Very unique museum designed by Architect Frank Gehry
Feb 2020
First off the architecture is very unique with it's vibrant color on the outside. This building stands out automatically and catches your eye and makes you want to find out what this is about. The museum is broken into many different facets. It tells the history of Panama, how animals came about to this country, the changing of the continents. There is a separate section which is the aquarium. Not large just one big room with different exhibits. The is another room with interactive exhibits which appeals to both young and old. At the end there is a gift shop with a store to buy coffee either freshly brewed or grounds to take. Very interesting and recommend you take the time to visit.

Perfect end of our trip to Panama
Mar 2020 • Couples
We started our 12 day trip to Panama in Panama City, continued on to Bocas Del Toro and Boquete with a two day stop in Panama City at the end. This museum was our last on the to fo list and a perfect summary of everything in Panama. It could be a first stop, middle or last stop on a visit in Panama. This museum is very well done. We are very interested in birding and the gardens here were an unexpected birding paradise in the city. We regretted not having our binoculars in our pack. Beautiful views of the city and an inexpensive Uber ride from our downtown hotel. Highly recommended and wonderful staff.

Colourful and educational
Feb 2020
The eye-catching exterior of this place, designed by internationally renowned architect Frank Gehry, sets the tone for the museum itself, which is a fun and colourful showcase of Panama's amazing biodiversity. It's a very family-friendly place, with interactive exhibits and a great central hall displaying the extraordinary animals that have called the region home over the millennia. Social, historical and geological context are also covered.

Texts are in Spanish and English throughout, and the helpful bilingual staff stationed throughout the museum welcome you to and explain each exhibit. The gardens surrounding the museum are also worth exploring - if you can withstand the blazing sun and heat in the summer months - and the museum café, while modest, is great for refreshments and giving your feet a rest.

The easiest way of getting to the museum from the downtown area or Casco Antiguo if you're not part of a tour group is by Uber, which will cost you a lot less than a taxi - taking the edge off the rather steep price of admission for non-residents. (It's for a good cause though, so I'm not complaining.)

Biomuseo is a must!
Feb 2020 • Family
This museum was awesome! My husband and I really enjoyed it, as did our kids (ages 11, 11, 14). It was so cool to learn all about the history of Panama and how it became an integral part in changing so much about our world - in particular the animals that navigated from South America to North America. The kids loved learning so much about the animals! We also loved walking along the causeway- a great day with the family!

It was a hot, humid day in Panama City and after doing a tour of the city, our group of travelers were bused to this museum.
It's the type of attraction where one could spend several days BUT not after a grueling day in the city.
Would love to return and to devote a full day to the exhibits.

Well designed, very well staffed!
The difference between this museum and every other museum we have attended (and international museums are our passion!) is that each area of the multi-faceted display areas was hosted by a different, welcoming, knowledgable and patient assistant. They guided us through the beginning of each theme, explained what we would be learning and then (only when we wanted) continued through that area with us answering questions and generally engaging with us. There is an outdoor display midway through the whole exhibition. It is open to all: paying and general public. Then paying patrons continue through to the third and fourth sections. The price of entry is higher than many museums but the quality and variety of the whole experience makes it good value for money. Very well designed, intriguing and educational.

The building is an icon itself! Standing out from anything else around. Inside, movies, storytelling, pictures and life-size reproductions help understand the evolution of this continent and the key role of Panama as a bridge. Very interesting

The building is better than the museum itself
Jan 2020
We enjoyed our visit but it didn't blow us away. We felt it was actually very expensive given how small the museum was. It was $18 per person and only took about an hour to go through the whole museum. The exhibits were good but not mind-blowing. It is nothing compared to a Smithsonean or Field Museum of Chicago, but a good way to spend a few hours.
