- Dream578977345210 contributions🦈 Totally Jawsome! 🦈I had been so looking forward to this tour and it did not disappoint. Delores was so helpful and I was able to get on the last tour of the season. Everything ran like clockwork and both Jeff (aka the dead Alex Kintner) & David our driver were the most fantastic guides. A totally authentic tour with plenty of inside information from two people who were actually there 50 years ago when this iconic movie was being made. Started the day as strangers but felt like life long friends by the end of the day. A MUST DO TOUR for any Jaws fans. A++++++++Written 23 October 2024
- Climber465040162370 contributionsDisappointedBooked with Homegrown tour for Martha’s Vineyard at 10:30 on September 25th, 2024. I called Homegrown tour and said that our Ferry would arrive at Oak Bluffs at 10:15 so it would be close on time and she said there would be no problem. Most of the clients are on that ferry a as well. Took the ferry from Woods hole to Martha’s Vineyard (Oak Bluffs) up to the street and watched the homegrown bus drive away. I tried to call the phone number of homegrown tours but her voicemail was full and couldn’t leave any message. Very disappointed to say the least. I wouldn’t recommend Homegrown tours to family or friends.Written 10 October 2024

- 650wandaj0 contributionsrefuses refund/unprofessional/nasty dispositionOn September 19,2024, I toured with homegrown tour, LLC. I paid 130.00 (65.00 for myself and my friend Chris). Dee dee canceled the tour because of inclement weather but on the 19th, she changed her plans and decided to accept 14 people on a short bus. I attended but my friend Chris did not due to the limited number of people allowed. Dee dee said that I stated Chris was on the bus but that is not true. I never stated such. She refuses to reimburse 65.00 ( amount of one ticket) She could easily solve the problem by reviewing the list of people on the bus and amount of money she collected in total for that trip. and if she included Chris as present, the count would exceed her limited number of 14. It is impossible to reason with Dee dee as evidence by the unprofessional and aggressive tone text messages she sent to me. I finally had to block her angry replies. As a senior citizen, I cannot recall ever corresponding with anyone as rude and unprofessional as she is, particularly as a business owner serving the community. I am currently disrupting the charge with the credit card company. My suggestion is wait to pay maybe the day of departure for tour and never pay her in cash because you certainly will lose your money dealing with this shady lady…. unbelievable.Written 25 September 2024
- G1832XMbrianm0 contributionsJawesome tour with JeffWent on a great Jaws bus tour! Our tour guide was Jeffrey Voorhees aka Alex Kintner from the film!! Our driver David was very personable, and knowledgeable as well. All had a wonderful time! Learned a lot, and the sights were beautiful. I give this tour a 10 out of 10!!Written 13 September 2024
- RebeccaWCarmel0 contributionsMust do for Jaws Fans!My husband and I are Jaws fanatics and for us this tour was on our bucket list. Dolores was so friendly and helpful with our booking and navigating getting to the island from Boston. She was always available to answer my questions. The tour was led by Jeff Vorhees, aka Alex Kitner, and he was fantastic. We were able to see all the locations, get out and take pictures and play trivia on the bus! The bus was cool and comfortable. If you love the movie like I do you must put this tour on your travel to do list.Written 2 September 2024
- Shawnda W0 contributionsJawsome for all!We had an absolutely amazing time on the JAWS tour in Martha's Vineyard! My 12-year-old son and the entire family loved every minute. Our tour guide, DeeDee, was fantastic—she not only provided great advice about accommodations and transportation on the island but also made sure we had a memorable experience. The highlight was meeting Jeff Voorhees, who played Alex Kintner, the second victim in the movie. His insights and behind-the-scenes stories about JAWS added a special touch to the tour as he guided us around the island. Highly recommend this tour for any JAWS fan!Written 1 September 2024
- rosejanes7350 contributionsBest Jaws Tour EverOur family's experience with HomeGrown Tours was exceptional and so memorable. At the very last minute I decided to see if there were any Jaws tours available for our day trip to Martha'sVineyard. After a couple of futile calls, I had the good luck of speaking to DeeDee at HomeGrown. She immediately went WAY out of her way to help me. Her personal kindness and efforts were above and beyond. She set up a tour with Jeff Vorhees who was the boy on the raft in Jaws. Two hours after i spoke with DeeDee, Jeff (Alex K in Jaws) met us at the ferry and gave my grandson, daughter snd me an amazing tour of Jaws sites on the island. We were all fascinated with his stories of the filming, about Spielberg,Dreyfuss and others in the cast. He is a wealth of knowledge and the nicest, most affable person. We all enjoyed him so much. My grandson will never forget this day and neither will we. DeeDee and Jeff, Thank you so much!!Written 23 August 2024
- tedbA357TE0 contributionsDidn’t live up to its potentialWe have been on dozens of guided tours across the country. North, south, east, and west by land, sea and Air. I’ve never heard so much silence on a tour before. Most Guides talk non stop Pointing out a former police station and telling us of a wealthy Woman whose house he entered to pick up the garbage is weak material The bus has a TV monitor that could have been utilized like other tour operators do to enhance the experience The driver didnt wear his sealbelt which in addition to being against the law jeopardizes the passengers safety Dee in the office was wonderfulWritten 7 August 2024

- lambert4250 contributionsUnreliableCanceled our tour 2 hours before it was suppose to start. She stated that we were the only ones that were signed up for it but I had checked the day before and it showed that it wasn't available which usually means the tour is full. Also she called us the day before our tour and wanted to know where we were, she had the days confused and thought we were suppose to be there the day before our tour was scheduled. We only had one day to take the tour so by her not knowing what was going one with the reservations she caused us to not see the island of Martha's Vineyard. Also, I had to call to get our money back. I specifically asked her when she canceled our tour about our credit and she stated she would process it, she didn't. I had to call two weeks later to get our money back.Written 8 November 2023
- johnsV4912BG0 contributionsBeware if taking the word of this company ownerIn October 2023 my ten-year-old son and I went on a special tour of Jaws filming locations on Martha's Vineyard, traveling to get to the island from our home in the Washington, D.C. area. There were two tours that day. The bus used for the tour participants belonged to Homegrown Tours owned by Dolores Borza. I had two purposes for going then. One was to see how the tour was conducted and also to meet with Dolores Borza who I'd talked to on the phone a few weeks before. I had learned from being on the Jaws at 50 Facebook site that she was looking for tour guides who would be independent contractors to work next summer conducting tours of Jaws locations and of the history of the island. We spoke on the phone for about an hour in September. I told her I'd been to the island several times over the years, was already familiar with a number of the filming locations, and was first there at two months with my parents when we stayed in a cottage by the Gay Head Lighthouse which appeared in an early scene in Jaws. She asked about my coming on the October Jaws tour and then finding a time to talk afterwards about next summer. I told her I would be on the tour and said my son would come with me as I hoped he'd be able to accompany me next summer if I was able to do the tour work. I also sent her a photo of me with the actress who played the first shark victim in Jaws taken at a celebrity convention near Baltimore in September. She sent me the information I'd need to learn about the island's history to be able to lead that tour. That was the last communication I received from Dolores before coming for the October tour. I emailed her that I'd definitely be there and could we please confirm a time to talk afterwards. She was scheduled to be the driver on both tours and had said before we could find a time to talk between the two tours that day. I had told her finding housing was a key factor in being able to be a tour guide. She had also said we could look into some possibilities. My son and I came up the day before and stayed with a family member who lives near Cape Cod and took the 7am ferry that day to the island to arrive in time for the morning tour. When we got on the tour bus, someone else, not Dolores, was the driver. I subsequently learned she had some other meeting to attend and could not be there. But she didn't bother to let me know she would not be there when that was my only time to meet with her while on the island. That evening when we were back at my relative's I sent her an email telling her how dismayed I was at simply being blown off by her without any word. She wrote back saying how hateful and ugly and short I was, and that she didn't want anything further to do with me in being a tour guide because I'd be all wrong for it. She also claimed, quite falsely, that I hadn't responded to her and she had been waiting to hear from me. The opposite had happened and I resent her all my past emails to show I'd attempted to contact her without response. She also inexplicably said I should have already arranged housing by this time. Maybe this opportunity wouldn't have worked out for logistical reasons. But that doesn't change her absence of professionalism and dishonesty through her blatant lying in dealing with me. I read in some of the other reviews of her company here that her word was not always reliable for people who signed up to go on her summer tours. It was better to learn this now about how she operates instead of later. I would caution anyone who relies on her word to proceed very cautiously and have something else for back up. You may well need it.Written 5 November 2023

This was my first visit to Martha’s Vineyard and Dee Dee, the tour guide, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. She has a lot of history of the island to share. Being a local herself, she was very entertaining and told some good stories about the area. It was a beautiful day and we saw many breathtaking sights. Very pleased with our All Island Bus Tour and highly recommend it!

Our group of 3 had so much fun listening to our bus tour guide who grew up on the island. She and her classmates were all given $10 to film the beach scene in Jaws by running into and out of the icy water in April to film the 4th of July scene. The film had to be done by Memorial Day in time for the islands short tourist season. She told us so many other cute stories about growing up on the island as well as facts about the island. She drove a blue van so I hope I am reviewing the right Island bus tour, there seems to be many!?

For my Milestone birthday trip, I booked an all island tour for 13. Dee Dee was aware it was my birthday and arrived with a shuttle decorated with balloons, signs, and a little birthday surprise that made the group smile! Being a third generation islander, she had great stories and customized the tour to what we wanted to see, giving the highlights and a good sense of the entire island.
I highly recommend traveling around with Homegrown Tours. Well worth the $50! Thank you Dee Dee, for making my birthday, so very special.

Booked a tour in August, rescheduled to 9/25 due to hurricane, arrived on date of tour and was never picked up. Apparently driver had Covid exposure. I appreciated them taking precautions. However, By the time someone called to tell me, it was too late. And they stated they emailed me the night prior- they hadn’t, I’d been checking. After apologizing they said they’d refund me the cost and recommended a different tour to take. So we spent $80 day of for another tour. Now they’ve all but ghosted me. Never answer phone, didn’t reply to my emails (direct or via their website) so I expect as it’s 2 months later there is no refund coming. (I have provided PayPal as requested). Very depressing as the women I’d been working with was very pleasant and responsive initially. Good tour? I’ll never know.

Our tour was supposed to begin at 10:30am. My husband and I were stain Hyannid so we woke up at 5:30am to take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard for the day. We arrived at 9:15am. However, I received an email at 7:25am stating the tour has been moved to 11am. We had lunch reservations at an upscale restaurant which had to be canceled (they had no later times). At 9:33am, I receive a text from Dee Dee, the tour operator asking if anyone is allergic to dogs as she wants to bring her 18lb rescue dog on the tour. I called her and told her ok and asked her for recommendations for breakfast since the restaurants were all busy at breakfast. My husband and I ended up going to the supermarket for danishes. She told me in the phone that we will.meet at the Steamship Ferry ticket office NOT in front of the Homegrown tours office. We arrived to the office at 10:45am. At 11am nobody was there. At 11:01am, I go outside and see the purple van parked. I run inside of the ticket office to get my husband. When we get outside we see the van turning the corner leaving st 11:02am. Obviously Dee Dee could have called me since we spoke earlier. I called her multiple times and her phone was off. I'm sure she was in a rush as to not be late for her afternoon tour! Our morning on MV turned out to be very stressful and our tourguide left us and we had no lunch reservations for my husband Birthday. I recommend avoiding this tour agency at all costs. Disorganized and unprofessional!!

There was 6 people waiting with ticket in hand and the bus never came. Four of us booked through u and the other couple booked through their hotel. We called the All Island Bus Tour and they said they are not running until Aug 1st because of Covic-19 virus. We then tried to book there with another tour group and they didn’t answer the phone. Nightmare!! My husband and I went there to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Very disappointed. Please make sure our account is credited.

I reserved a tour with All Island Bus Tour which is conducted by Home Grown Tour on Martha’s Vineyard. The tour was cancelled byHome Grown and they passed the reservation to another company leaving 1/2 hour earlier than the original reservation. This was on a Sunday morning and I was not available to see 6:30AM and subsequent attempts to inform me of the cancellation. So I never received the tour. I recommend you try Homegrown Tours only if you feel lucky.

Not what I expected. Our original tour was cancelled die to the driver coming in contact with some one who tested positive for corona virus. We were booked on another tour before we arrived and was a van that fit about 17 people. Very hot, tight and not enough stops. The driver also could not get the microphone to work. So he yelled for the 3 hours of the tour. We Couldn't really see good out of the van either. It was an ok tour. The operator did his best "sharky" .

I don’t often feel compelled to write reviews, but this experience calls for an exception. The All Island Bus Tour I took had no resemblance to the description on the website. I’ve never been on a tour where a guide (Stan) spent a large portion of narrative complaining about traffic, rather than seizing on the opportunity of extra time to expand on history or answer questions. Instead, we received only minimal history of the island, and the guide was totally unprepared to answer even the most basic of questions. Instead, we heard tales of where the guide went fishing as a child or a past job as a garbage truck driver. We were not offered water, as stated on the website, nor were images or historic photos used on the bus TV screen. The guide asked several times if anyone needed to catch the ferry back to the mainland, as if for an excuse to speed up our pace and make up for lost time in traffic, thereby skipping some of the stops listed on the tour. I would suggest intensive training for the guide. Bottom line, just because someone is home grown, doesn’t necessarily make them a tour guide.

Your description of covid accomodations includes social distancing. With that in mind, how many people will be on the bus and how many people is the bus designed to hold? I'm hoping that masks will be required while on the bus, is that a good assumption?
Written 25 August 2021
The guidelines with masks are always changing. With that in mind , I believe masks will be required while on the bus. Going outside to the different locations, I'm really not sure. You would have to check with All Island Bus Tours to see how many people will be allowed on the tour bus.
