          A good day out
This was a really well organised trip and we saw a lot. It is a very long day though as the journey to and from the lake is long, however it was worth it. The lady who was our guide was very informative and interesting. Recommended.

          A big adventure
This tour was everything my family and I hoped for. First was a treacherous bus ride, no way around it but the bus was comfy and it was worth the trip. Take meds if you’re queasy. Then at Lago Atitlan, we ate breakfast, then boated to and from 3 additional villages. There was a guide for each family (Elena and Kevin stayed with us). They were kind, considerate, and so knowledgeable. They are locals and showed us their home in that way. We learned so much about Mayan culture and had plenty of time to show and explore. We stopped in for a textile lesson, chocolate making lesson, and then tuktuks around the fourth village. I would highly recommend the Tuktuk option in the fourth town. There was food options for even the pickiest of eaters, and we all enjoyed (ages 4-60, family of 8). This is a full day adventure! But Kevin made it so enjoyable for us and we will talk about forever.

Perfect Way to Visit Lake Atitlán from Antigua in a Short Trip!
This day trip to Lake Atitlán was the ideal way to experience the beauty of the lake and its surroundings in a short amount of time. We visited the main points of interest around the lake, which allowed us to soak in the charm and culture of several towns in one day. My favorite part was the breathtaking views throughout the trip—they were truly unforgettable. Despite the packed itinerary, the tour was well-organized, making it easy to enjoy the highlights without feeling rushed. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone short on time but eager to see as much as possible. It’s an efficient and rewarding way to experience the magic of Lake Atitlan.

Second time doing this tour and still a 10/10 experience.
Last year I did this tour by myself and I was blown away. I decided to come back to Guatemala again with my girlfriend and I kept telling her how I wanted to take her on this tour as it was one of my favorite parts of my trip. Although this was my second time doing the tour, it was equally as fun as last time and ended up being my girlfriend's favorite part of our trip. Elena is truly an amazing person and guide, and makes everyone feel welcome and like a friend. She is knowledgeable and takes you to many different places to learn different things and is constantly smiling while doing so. All of the places she takes you to has people who are also very knowledgeable and friendly. I can't recommend this tour enough. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my money and time. Any person I know that is taking a trip to Guatemala I will tell them that this tour is a must. Thank you for everything Elena.

          A great day!
Our family group of 3 joined with 4 others for an incredible day with Elena, our tour guide. The boat trip to 3 different cities was unique. Climbing the hills was a bit of a challenge...but I'm OLD! Elena brought us to restaurants for breakfast and lunch. Both were good. The demonstrations at the shops were well-done and interesting, and the merchandise featured good, even though I forgot to barter! It was an amazing, educational, and fun day. ( Our driver to/from Antigua was great, too!)

          Fantastic - highly recommend!
What a fun tour! Our bus driver was fantastic, and our tour guide was friendly, helpful and very informative. My husband, mom, and I took the tour with 4 other people. We would highly recommend (and if you get car sick or sea sick, don’t forget your Dramamine!)

Exploring the Beauty and Culture of Lake Atitlan
As someone with limited time, this small-group tour from Antigua was perfect for hitting all the highlights while diving deeper into the vibrant local culture. I really enjoyed the trip—it was packed with insightful information about the lake, the communities, and the Mayan culture that thrives there today. The tour guides were fantastic, sharing their knowledge and passion for the region. The water taxis were a bit rough at times, but the experience was definitely worth it. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the beauty of Lake Atitlan and its rich cultural heritage!

Great experience but wouldn’t do it again
It was okay….We would have loved to stay longer at Pachequel and San Pedro. It was very time-restricted so we couldn’t do a lot of the things we wanted to do. Also we did not like the restaurant they recommended for breakfast. Food was cold and took very long at Pachequel. If that was the case we would have rather tour and walked around or simply ate somewhere else. However we did enjoy the bus shuttle there and back and the boat ride was a great experience over looking the volcanoes and towns.

Nice view of the volcanoes and lake.
Our tour guide Elena was great. She was knowledgeable and fully bilingual. The bus will pick you up from your hotel and take you to a restaurant that’s already been decided by them, not necessary the best food but a gorgeous view of the lake. It’s worth your money given that you visit four towns, you experience knitting and chocolate making plus the sense of feeling safe. I totally recommend.

          Ride to remember
The tour of the lake and villages escorted by an amazing guide was a great experience. The bus ride there and back however was not fun.The driver sped all of the way including tailgating and overpassing , braking hard on corners and just dangerous ,putting passengers at risk .None of the passengers were in a rush , we are on vacation after all !! The return trip to Antigua was the same dangerous driving to start off with however it progressively got worse with heavy rain and treacherous road conditions . This did not slow down the driver at all and he continued driving for 30 minutes at speed with the windscreen completely fogged over until a passenger came to his assistance and wiped down the screen.Either the bus did not have a demisting system or the driver did not know how to use it .We also then got clipped by another bus as we were over into their lane …. So glad to finally get off that ride 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Worth it Despite the Bumpy Ride
The Lake Atitlan One Day Tour was one of the best experiences of my life. Please note that if you have ANY motion sickness, I highly suggest taking a motion sickness medicine before you go or reconsider going at all. Even after taking the medicine, the roads to get to Lake Atitlan were brutal and the turbulence while on the boat was not fun. Despite those things, I had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was able to multitask by giving the tour to those who speak Spanish while also giving a tour to those who speak English. She was very knowledgeable of the area, as she is a local of a surrounding city. While you can definitely tell that the tour is a means to get you to spend money and support the local businesses, I never felt pressured to spend any money if I did not want to. We explored so many different areas and truly got to see what these peoples lives are like every single day. Lake Atitlan is a beautiful place with an amazing history and culture. I recommend taking this tour.

Driver picked up on time but was quiet the whole way. This is not an informative tour the guide is with you but doesn’t speak much. When you ask about the volcano he shows video but doesn’t explain much nor talks about any of the history . When we arrived to the park the horse riders rush to your van. They opened the door and shoved the horses head in the van for you to choose. The app say they charge $100 Q but in May 2023 they were charging $200Q each way . They follow you up the trail yelling taxi and tell you that you won’t be able to make it up it’s to steep and air gets thin. The price goes up the further up your are. I understand the hustle but it was a little to aggressive for me . The walk itself is not for the lite hearted . It’s a hike up . The rocks are slippery there’s horse sh!$ everywhere but doable . The pizza is delicious ! Expensive but I ate delicious pizza made out of lava rocks . Overall good expensive but I would recommend getting the tour with ATV or horses already included .

This isn't an easy hike. Anyone who's saying it is must be in great shape and hike frequently. If you're a beginner hiker, this will be a difficult hike. Our tour guide went up FAST power-walking up the trail and didn't wait for people. Since I was at the end of the group and would have been slower, I was worried about getting left behind and felt like I had no choice but to pay for the horse ride. That's ok because it was cool riding the horse, but would have liked to try going up at a slower pace. 1 other person in our group paid for the horse as well and a few others considered it. I paid Q100 for the horse to bring me about 75% of the way up. No one in our group bought a walking stick and it seemed like no one needed it. I bought a flashlight for this hike since the instructions said you needed it for the afternoon tour, but I never used it because it was still mostly light out when we finished. I was picked up a little before 2 and we got back into Antigua around 7pm - 5 hours in total.

This tour was even better than I expected. They communicated well with me via email to schedule it. The van arrived at my hotel on time. A nice surprise was that they stopped for a coffee/pastry/potty break on the way. The van ride was about an hour or so, but it gave us all time to get to know each other. There were people on the tour from all over the world - young and old, male and female. They did a great job explaining about the horses and walking sticks available at Pacaya (I recommend the walking stick). Our tour guide up the volcano was really informative. I was worried about how hard it would be, especially with the altitude, but they stopped quite a bit along the way for people to catch their breath and that was really nice. They had a snack bar along the way up the trail, one at the top, and even a lava rock gift shop with really pretty items. Roasting the marshmallows was really fun. Take layers - beanie, windbreaker, and warm jacket. I suggest water, a hat and sunscreen too. Great experience!

We did the half-day tour from Antigua and we had a great time! My partner and I are moderate hikers and did not find the hike to be particularly challenging but very pretty and a great was to see a volcano. There are some parts of the trail that are steep but then it levels out. The trail has amazing views of Fuego Volcano, and Acatenango Volcano as well as Guatemala City and Antigua. The tour company was good and our tour guide for the trail, Carina, was awesome and very knowledgeable.

It was a large group, so unless you rode a horse and the guide spoke English, you couldn’t learn anything along the way. I don’t think this was a simple hike. It took 21/2 hours and once you were on the lava rock your balance was very difficult. Even my 17 year old fell, catching herself with hands caused lots of blood! Even so, getting close to the peak of the volcano where it was hot enough to roast marshmallows was pretty freakin awesome! Do it!

Overall, this was a great experience and my friends and I are very happy to have booked it. I would book this hike again! The hike itself is amazing and the views are gorgeous. Wear good shoes! Bring a friend.

I was feeling very confident reading so many reviews saying the hike isn’t difficult, but I ended up needing a horse. The hike is a bit difficult and the path is very steep. I would say this is a medium difficulty hike. I think the beginning is the hardest part. I am a fat woman who is comfortable hiking, going on long walks, and doing many physical activities. I am used to going on hikes, but it was still a bit difficult for me because the terrain is quite rough. The walk up is about 45 mins to an hour, and 30 to 45 on the way down.

The driver Carlos was excellent at handling the tight streets in Antigua and the winding roads up in the mountain. The guide Ervin was very nice and always made time to stop and catch our breath.

When you first start the hike, the horse guides crowd the group and follow you for the first 10 mins. It’s quite uncomfortable to be walking in the middle of horses while they poo and fart. The horse guides are also bumping into the group. I understand that working in tourism is a hustle, but this was uncomfortable - yet it worked to get me to pay for a horse. I ended up getting a horse and it was very nice, although there are no helmets and the horses walk very close to the edge of the cliff.

It would be much more comfortable if the horse guides walked a bit behind to avoid crowding the path and stepping on horse poo.

It seems like the horse guides choose the price on the spot. It was 300 Q for going up and down, and 200 for just one way. I didn’t have any cash on me, so the driver stopped at an ATM on the way back so I could pay the horse guide.

I have to say that the actual volcano hike was good, it is pretty intense but worth it. The issue we had was being crammed into a bus at full capacity, no seat belts and our driver was driving super fast. It took almost 2 hours to get there because we kept stopping for more and more people. The driver didn’t know where he had picked people up from and when we got out to let other people get off the bus, he drove away and we had to chase the bus! I feel like they need to have better communication with what the transportation entails because I would’ve thought twice before paying for this. The tour was good but it was still in Spanish even though we requested English of twine in our group, but the tour guides were really nice. They gave us as many marshmallows to toast as we wanted and even held everyone’s trash for us. They have a small store and a guy selling pizza. The small pizza is 250 quetzales and a large is 350. Overall I recommend the hike but beware of the transportation.

As others have mentioned: the park entrance fee is likely not included in your 'booked excursion', so check closely and bring quetzales. I like to hike at a brisk walking pace, which is what our guide was doing. I could keep up with him, but I was definitely huffing and puffing a bit (not sure if altitude and/or we were on second day of trip and my legs felt a bit tired). So it took me about an hour, but a so-so conditioned person can do it in 80 minutes, with short rests here and there. It's actually quite vigorous, I recommend bringing a minimum of 24 ozs of water and wear short sleeves. I wore hiking type pants and hiking shoes. Shorts would have been ok. Sneakers would work, although they'd likely get really dirty. There is definitely quite a bit of rocky/rooty terrain.

(Our excursion included then going to 'hot springs' that were really some heated pools at a hotel, but they did feel good, it was not too over-crowded and it was an enjoyable post-hike relaxation activity)

I enjoyed this hike so much! Not only did I hike an active volcano but I enjoyed getting to know the other people in our group and the information (facts) that our guide gave us. Her dog Terry was great entertainment as well and led us along with her. Reaching the top was an amazing feat and roasting marshmallows was fun.

The hike was a little intense, but it's definitely a once in a lifetime experience. We took many breaks along the way and there were some great photos ops. I recommend getting a walking stick because it can be slippery. Transportation was communicated very well and pickup was on time.
