About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Laura M0 contributionsGood Shuttle OptionGood option to get to/from the airpot. No frills, but have no complaints. Was satisfied with the service! Easy to reach the operator if you have any questions or concerns.Written 3 December 2024
- sarak9010 contributionsEasy to book & great value shuttle! We booked this shuttle a few days before we needed a ride from Antigua to Panajachel. This was super affordable, easy to coordinate, and the shuttle picked us up right on time. It was a safe & easy ride to Lake Atitlan.Written 25 November 2024
- Lisamb10 contributionsGreat company to use for shuttles, walking tour!We used Due South to book shared shuttles to and from Lake Atitlán and Antigua. We also used them for a walking tour in Antigua. They were awesome! Affordable, reliable, good guides/drivers. On time. Also, we had a shuttle and walking tour during the festival of flowers in Antigua- initially did not know this was happening and they were able to change the walking tour to an earlier time for us and we had to change location of pick up for the shuttle and they were so great at communicating with us through WhatsApp!! And, it made it so easy and stress free! So, if any questions, do not hesitate to contact them with questions via WhatsApp! Oh, and our walking tour guide Luis, was great too!! He had the challenge of doing this during the festival of flowers and was so great! If we go back we will definitely use Due South again!Written 23 November 2024
- Odin D0 contributionsTerrible seatingsWaited an hour for the bus. Then needed to change to the actual bus. As those busses have foldedable middle seats we were unfortunate the one who needed to seat on those without any back seat. No fillings anymore in the seat cushions. Terrible !! If you let people pay a couple of euros extra you don’t even have to fill those seats … and everyone has a better journey .. fully packed with Dutch legs this is a nightmareWritten 18 November 2024
- Ian A0 contributionsEasy and good ride for the price. There was a festival so the streets were busy. They came and found us and paid the tuk tuk to take us to the small bus. They do fill the bus so don’t expect much elbow room. If you don’t like bumping elbows take a private car. But we met and spoke with some cool fellow travelers and enjoyed the ride. Felt pretty safe as rides go here. Dropped us where we indicated. Overall a good experience as catching a ride goes.Written 16 November 2024
- Alexa B0 contributionsDo not book with this company.1/5. Between them threatening to leave us at our hotel 10 minutes before our pickup time, yelling profanity at us, and making us walk blocks to find them, this was an extremely stressful experience.Written 14 November 2024
- 362miaz0 contributionsGo To for Excellent Tours in GuatemalaI booked a number of tours with Due South in Guatemala, including Tikal, Antigua Market, Iximche, Guatemala City tour, and it would definitely do it again next time I'm there. Everything was on time, professional, well organized, and corresponding with Due South for any needed changes was very easy. Thank you Valerie and your team for everything!Written 10 November 2024
- shannonr2530 contributionsPeruvian AdventureI have been on many tours with Valerie and Due South in Guatemala, and have never had anything but exceptional service. This high standard continued on Due South’s first international tour to Peru. It was absolutely magnificent. Valerie used her extensive contacts to get a local operator planning us all the best activities with the best guides. Seriously, our guide at Machu Picchu has published a book on the ruins - you can’t get much more expertise than that! Every day was full of fun cultural activities viewing the sights as well as more hands-on activities like cooking classes and horseback riding. We had fun and we learned all kinds of interesting information without it ever feeling like learning. Highlights (aside from the Main Attraction - I’ve been looking forward to Machu Picchu for 30 years and it was still absolutely magical) included: walking tours in Lima and Cusco, visiting a women’s cooperative to learn about traditional weaving and dying methods (and to buy their wares), visiting the strangest salt mine I’ve ever seen, snuggling with baby alpacas, visiting an organic farm to learn about ancient farming practices still in use, and the train to Machu Picchu which was an experience all by itself! Valerie and her partner Matt also saved me from near disaster when I left my passport on said train, and by pooling their resources and contacts to get my passport back to me the next day (when I was in too much of a panic to be of much use). I am forever grateful and can’t recommend Due South enough. Valerie lives for what she does and it’s clear in every travel experience I go on with her. I can’t recommend enough.Written 9 October 2024

I felt comfortable riding in the van and everyone was nice. The driver got my luggage out the back. Great experience no complaintsWritten 2 July 2024
- alliemurphyyyy0 contributionsInformative and Interesting! Highly recommend.I really enjoyed this trip! I am a woman travelling alone so safety is always a concern. But I felt very safe during both my trip to and from Antigua alone with my driver, Jimmy, and throughout the tour. Upon arrival, my group consisted of the guide and a Spanish speaker tourist. Our guide was incredible. He explained everything slowly in Spanish first (Spanish is my second language), and then would clear up any questions I had in English immediately after. He was very knowledgeable about all parts of the ruins, and I loved that he is of Mayan descent so gave a more personal side to the information. The small group size was ideal and allowed for us to get all of our questions answered and go at a comfortable pace. I highly recommend this tour for those who love history and want a chill activity to do.Written 14 June 2024

Loved visiting Antigua with the warm and friendly people and rich history this walking tour was a great overview of what the city has to offer. Cristina showed up and gave me a private tour since for some reason some other people couldn’t make it. She was very informative with the history, and she helped me find an ATM and was very patient. This is a great tour to see the beautiful city and learn about its history.

Due South is a well-run tour company that made things easy for travelers from other countries looking for day activities. They’re responsive to advance questions, and the guides were prompt and friendly. A special shout-out to Luis who was a fantastic Antigua tour guide. He had a great personality and was fun to hang out with. For our Pacaya hike, a driver picked us up, and we met with a guide at the volcano entrance, and our driver waited for us to take us home after the hike, which was really convenient.

Cristina was kind and informative. I literally got to my hotel from the airport and went directly onto the tour. I felt comfortable navigating the streets on my own by the time we finished (with a better understanding and stronger appreciation for this adorable little Colonial town and it's history). Thank you Elizabeth for calling me on Whatsapp when I didn't show up at the tour's scheduled time. My flight was late and I figured you all had left without me. That one call changed my entire day for the better!

Extremely disappointed with our experience booking a private walking tour of Antigua. Despite arriving promptly at the agreed meeting time, the guide was nowhere to be found. After multiple attempts to contact the agency, we were informed that the tour was cancelled due to unforeseen issues with the guide. Not only was this last-minute cancellation unacceptable, but the lack of communication and warning beforehand wasted valuable time during our visit. Cancelling 25 minutes after the scheduled departure time is simply unacceptable. While we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, better communication and accountability from the agency would have been appreciated. Would not recommend booking with them.

Hi Yannick,
We're sorry for the lack of advanced communication - the guide was in an accident and we didn't get any notification. In any case, we do understand how disappointed this left you, and although we provided a full refund, of course we couldn't bring back your wasted time. Sometimes unfortunate events happen that are out of our control and we're sorry you were affected by that. We hope the rest of your trip went well.

Tons of variety in this walking tour. Get local recommendations for restaurants or experiences during your stay in Antigua as well as learning some history and language as well. Pacing is leisurely and inclusive for the group, and the guide, Luis, was kind and knowledgeable. Would recommend.

Excellent walking tour with knowledgeable, friendly and considerate guide, Luis. Totally enjoyed this two-hour tour; learned a lot about the history of this beautiful area, its people and culture. Luis speaks several languages, but he's also gracious and patient enough to let you practice your Spanish (if that's not your native language.)

I had a lovely morning with Christina as the only person on the tour. I learned quite a bit about Antigua and it’s history. She told me about several churches. I did the combined historical and market tour so then we went to the markets. Food was not included in the price, but we enjoyed papusas and then had a typical Guatemalan meal at a comedore for just Q20 each. It was a lovely introduction to the area. Christina is also a Spanish teacher so she taught me a few things, and spoke slowly in Spanish at lunch so I could test my limited Spanish. All in all a great way to spend the morning.

This tour was the perfect touch to visiting the lovely city of Antigua. I had the pleasure of having Luis as my trusty tour guide. He was super friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. He provided a thorough history lesson on the city and how it came to be. We visited churches, plazas, statues and ruins and learned interesting facts about each location. I was lucky enough to be the only one taking the tour and Luis gave me the opportunity to ask as many questions as I wanted, without rushing me :) He even indulged me and took me to a local ice cream shop to satisfy my cravings. This tour is a great way to learn all about Antigua’s rich history and culture. Definitely recommend!

Such a great review for Luis, and we'll be sure to pass it on! We certainly always recommend people come and learn some history while here, as Antigua is ripe with beauty, culture, architecture, and little gems like the ice cream shop! We appreciate your business and hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip.
